Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

I personally dont see all that much difference between this and the LVG era

Really worrying how open we were today and a total lack of team structure or shape.. eek

He hasn't even had a full month ffs! All the cancelled trainings, missed games due Covid etc. Calm down Doomers.

You can only hope that he comes out and calls it for what it is. At least that will be an upgrade over Ole but the performance wasn’t.

I think people are vastly underestimating the job any manager will have trying to get something out of that squad of players , there is very little character there , very little work ethic and very little composure under any bit of pressing or pressure. No formation suits them because they just not good enough for where a club like us should be at.

Surprised we're not destroying teams with a new manager. Afterall, Solskjaer left us in a much better place and built an incredible team.

One of my greatest fears is that he is just a smooth talking LVG.

Seriously though, I feel that ultimately his downfall will be his inability to get a tune out of Bruno.

It’s only 3 games but I’m starting to suspect this guy isn’t the footballing rain-man he is purported to be.

He never was, despite the media fawning over him. Letting Conte go to spurs was a monumental feck up by the club. But then again, we should be used to our club fecking up on a regular basis.

Buckle up united fans, we're the liverpool of the 90's and 2000's now. Its going to be a long fecking ride!!

Does anyone actually believe that though? He's been a middling manager his entire career

Him not having managed any team to any great standard and being sporadically out of managerial work was probably our best clue. As interims go he may be ok but he’s not the answer long term and that should’ve been obvious when he was hired.

Thought him leaving McT alone in CM in that second half left us way too exposed even if we looked a bit more threatening. I thought Bruno would move into CM but he still played high up the pitch.

We gave up on the season when we didn't sack Ole after Liverpool, then watched Conte go to Spurs. We'll be playing Europa next season
Glass half full: maybe it means Mr CL pops off. Will solve a massive tactical headache.

I heard today that he is the Godfather of German football.

Seriously though he will guide us to 4th then we can build from there.

We are dark horses for the CL too.

Early days, and overall good results thus far.

I am pretty sure that was the plan but Bruno has no tactical discipline whatsoever.

At one point will people stop blaming Ole for how shit we are?

We’ve heard plenty of times about how decent managers would whip this team into shape in no time, now we’re already hearing excuses for him.

It’s fecking Newcastle and Norwich and we’ve looked absolutely clueless. Nothing to get excited about at all as far as I can see.

Ragnick cannot polish turd.

Turd cannot be polished by ragnick.

We have lots of turds.

Spot bloody on.

Pretty obvious we are carrying more than a few players in the first 11 that tactically have no clue what they are doing. We seriously need to bring a couple in that have tactical know how even if they aren’t top quality in key areas.

Seriously we are drifting through games we should dominate in because the core of our team don’t really understand how football works.

If Ralf decides to stick with the Ronaldo-Bruno combo like Ole he'll suffer the same fate.

Well he is the interim manager - and I absolutely hope that remains the case and we get in ten Hag or someone else not named Rodgers or Pochettino in the summer - but I did/do expect him to do more common sense stuff; I.e.
A. Play a formation that suits your players; and
B. Bench massively underperforming players (Rashford / Bruno / Ronaldo)

If he’s The Godfather of German football then I hope some cnut finds a horse’s head in their bed tomorrow morning - it can literally be anyone - I just want to see results.

I feel we got the wrong guy again.

Under Carrick we actually played alright for 3 games.

Since the Arsenal game we have been shit.

I expected it would be more of the same with the same players that have let us down for years. But we're not seeing any positives whatsoever so far.

Let's get it right it's been 4 absolutely shocking performances under him, there's been no bounce. Even Ole at the end pulled out the Spurs game, Carrick had 3 rather good in the circumstances performances, this guy though has been a shitshow

Cop yourselves on. We all know the state of the team he took on. He’s been here 2 minutes and had a COVID outbreak in between. Did you honestly expect him to flick a switch and for the team to miraculously start performing?

We looked better than that in Carrick’s games against much better teams. At least it looked like the players knew what they were supposed to be doing.

I’m really struggling to see how the 4222 is going to work when it fully exposes the weakest part of our team. Then to change it at half time he makes that part even weaker

I don't think Ralf understands how brutal and difficult the EPL is even if a team is fighting relegation. Leaving McT by himself was insane, Emptying the midfield was suicide.

The system doesn't work. It's a stupid system. Schmidt at PSV uses it too, which has been pretty much a failure. It leaves you vulnerable and gives great difficulties breaking low blocks.

If you have not had many training sessions, then maybe stick to what works and the players are used to. Playing with no midfield, throwing all players bar the CBs high up when one of them is slow as piss and then lumping the ball up is not quite the coaching that was being hyped up.

State of the posts in here

It's his 3rd game.

That's what makes it worse, we should be in the middle of a new manager bounce right about now, but the effort levels match those earlier this season under Ole.

Our new manager bounce lasted half an hour against Palace.

We look exactly the same in terms of work rate and tactics that we did with Ole here.

We lumber around the pitch looking lost while resorting to hoofball against a Newcastle side struggling against relegation. Meanwhile they cut us apart time after time.

DDG is the sole reason we walked away with a single point.

Shambolic.

Disappointing. Genuinely thought he'd at least get us out playing the likes of Norwich and Newcastle.
