Ralf needs players who will run as much or more than the opposition. Our squad isn't fit enough to play at this tempo for 90 minutes, under Ole we ran less than any top team. And while they're trying to adopt this new style, they're reverting to their old ways fairly often on offense.
Ralf seems to be an expert scout, and of course he must have great people in his scouting network. If he can find those players like Mane and Kimmich for us we'll be flying high in 3 years.
Running is the future of football, it's not going away, we need to get with the times, whether it's under Ralf or someone else. Much of our squad lack the attributes to excel in this style; Matic, Martial, Maguire, Mata (all the M's basically), Shaw and AWB will need to adapt or move on. AWB has the engine, so there's hope for him. Ralf isn't asking for fancy triangles, there's hope that AWB can become good enough with the ball with the right training.
I'm especially interested in the the eye tracking exercises Ralf uses. It seems to me that you need to break things down into small pieces to train players properly, so you can exactly show a player what to look for and when. Breaking the game down into small piece and training one element 100 times in 10 minutes will be much more effective than scrimmaging. Just like a fighter works on different sections of their technique at different times and doesn't just spar.
