Ralf Rangnick | ex-interim manager | does anyone rate him?

I don't know what is wrong with these players heads honestly. They always seem happy to let the opposition play and have so much time on the ball. We get 2 seconds on the ball before we get swarmed by 3 players. This happens again annd again and there is no response from our players.

Where's our competitive edge? It's like watching a boxer getting punched again and again and he's just standing there wanting the fight to end.

This. Blatant oppo WUM imo.

Surprised he wasn’t banned during his Ole wind ups.

I haven't even criticized Ragnicks performance. It'd be fantastic if your opinion was based on understanding what's being written.

I'm sorry if me commenting here is a bannable offense to you, but maybe you should use the ignore button. Let me know if you need directions in how to use it, I know it can be challenging.

There's still posters who believe Moyes didn't get enough time, and picked up a criminally weak team.

So give it a few years and there will definitely be some revisionism dotting around.
That entirely depends on how far successful this club would be in a few years time. Moyesy's fanboys come out of the woodwork because the team is not doing well, hence they have some ground to stand on. Same as Ole. We got lucky this game, but when a bad result hits, Ole fans will be all over Rangnick.

The Ole inners need to pipe down and stop pretending that the current situation is in any way comparable to the previous mess we were in. We are actually working towards something now, it's no longer operation let's try (and fail) to grind out results to keep our failing manager in a job.

Was disappointed Ralph didn't get the defence pushed higher, quicker. Against Palace the defence followed quickly behind as we played forward. Today we took forever to get to the halfway line.

Needs a leader at the back.

As long as Ralf gets results, he gets time. Its as simple as.

If he doesn't get results, he might not even be allowed to consult. Who knows.

Its the post Fergie, modern Manchester United way.

It doesn't sound too different from Ole's pashun and 50-50's.

"Wasn't the case on all positions"

I hope that means some ruthless changes.
Difference is he will put coaches to work, maybe his psychological coach in this instance to train their brains on body language and intensity. Ole was just "show me you want it"

I think some of you are overselling Ralf a little bit. He's done very good things from a underdog position in terms of results and squad building but he's never shown to be "the guy" that can take a team to the top of anything. He's won a couple cups and placed well in the Bundesliga a couple times. His career highlight by far is the Semi finals of the Champions League with Schalke 04 in 2011.

Ralfs biggest qualification is the glowing recommendation from other managers who have been inspired by his principles, but who (apparently) execute them better.

I'd be pretty stoked to have this guy in the backoffice, but as a manager he's never won a top flight league title, nor does it seem like its the clubs position that he will be permanent manager, although recent comments indicate he might not "mind" if he's asked.

Sensible post. This is a guy who was managing in the russian league and the team he managed had started the season quite poorly as well. People are going way overboard about this guy.

We'll fail to control the ball and keep possession with that partnership+Bruno, only one of them should play against Brentford.
Not my words. I just said what he seemed to say.

The obvious fix to me should be that we should be up our tempo for defensive game then be a bit more patient with build up after we win the ball.

He wasn't manager.

Oh I have no doubts he works differently from Ole. I just felt it necessary to point out Ole was heavily criticized for not discussing tactics in depth during pressers. Fans are eating out of Ralf's hand when he's speaking the exact same gibberish.

No he didnt. Our most important players missed pre season.

Maybe now people see that is about the players and being out of form? There is absolutely no reason going in on the manager now. Absolutely none. Not even on his subs. We need to play players back in form.
The previous failed manager was awful after 3 years in charge. Give it a rest with this dumb logic.

I can believe people are already criticising Ralf Rangnick. I appealed for time when he was appointed and three games doesn’t count as time. Norwich played like he wants us to play. Lethargy set in with the players, again. We still do not have an on-field motivator to kick arses and I still think we rely too much on CR7.

Do people seriously expect performances to switch on like a light switch?

Wasn't great and it will take time.

Ole needed to go. But it sounds like a few fellas are scared he wasn’t the Ole Ole Ole I love you you thought him to be? Here is an idea! How about we start looking at what goes on in games and at our players?
Ole was very bad at communicating and I hated his lectures and positive statements after terrible performances. Ralf is honest and straightforward but needs time. Oles laissez faire style put us so far behind, fitness being just one thing

How can anyone take you seriously if you get such basic facts so drastically wrong?

It was shite today, but it was never ever going to be an overnight improvement. I feel like that first 30 minutes against Palace raised peoples hopes a bit too high that we'd see a really instant turnaround.

No matter what Ralf or even the next manager does, it won't change the ultimate fact Ole is a godawful manager and an atrocious coach.

No he's not. If you take a cumulative viewing of Rangnick in his few United interviews, he talks more about tactics than Ole did in at least a year or two.

I think the bar was set up high, at least for me since we were impressed by what we saw in the first time against Palace. We expected to build on from that but we regressed massively.

If. I didn't. I was specifically talking about the posted clip and the lack of certain OTT responses Ole would've gotten for it.

It's typical irrelevant "I don't want to say anything substantive" managerial bla bla. Let's not pretend Ralf shits gold here.

Hou called it gibberish which is hilariously daft. He wasnt just taking gibberish today.
No one is saying he shat gold in that interview specifically so stop taking it as such.

You took general views of how Rangnick conducts himself and used one interview as a representative.

The back was the least of our problems today. Ralf recognized this too. We did feck all up front against the ball. Rashford was a shambles. Ronaldo looked old too. Bruno was oll over the pitch
Can't have the defence push forward if your forwards to feck all against the ball

He said a lot in his interview and yes he cannot change their attitude in three days but I hope he lights up a rocket up their arse. He certainly knows what he wants his teams to do and our forwards were terrible and he said so without naming them. They all know who they are and all our forwards.
I have already said when he was appointed that the moment he fails to win a match the Ole fanboys would be out. They are already out. He did not even lose the match but The usual suspects are here already.

People have to stop thinking this will be an easy fix and rangnick will start having us play like Liverpool in a week's time. It will take time. Right now 3 points matters the most. The fact that he is emphasizing on the defense shows he knows what he is doing. We have to be patient. I would take boring 1-0 in the next 5 Pl games for all I care.

Implementing an attacking system takes longer than the rest especially we didn't seem to have one in the first place.

It won't be smooth for now. What RR should do imo is to win the ball quick with all the quick pressing then build up a bit slower with the attack. Then, speed it up once attackers get the idea of what he wants them to do. Will take time.

He must be fuming with that. Having the ideas and systems is one thing but transferring them from your mind into reality is not so easy, especially with players who’ve not been coached at a high level consistently plus the reality of a good number or them just simply not being good enough. This is going to take time, the results might not even be seen in his interim tenure.

Two criticisms, though one may not be by design. Firstly, why keep hooking Sancho when he's the best of 4 attackers? Unless there's fitness issues, it beggars belief. He's looked Rolls Royce on the ball and barely gave it away.

Secondly, why have we gone so deep again? That's why we conceded so many chances today, second to everything and just stood off their attackers allowing runs all over the place. Maguire is fecking useless too.

Yeah I had a feeling it would be Jadon that would get hooked rather than Marcus. Hopefully he will make changes quicker in future games.

The sooner he brings in his own assistants the better it will be.
