don't forget he left QPR. To me, he joined pool for the money (security) and because he probably knew he was good enough to get into pools team quicker. Who knows if United are interested? However, I know that if this keeps dragging on? Pool fans won't give a shit if they sell him to United. Some will find it funny because he's painting himself out to be a twat. He's now at a stage where, he can pick clubs (if they can afford him). United have a number of England players. He's a supporter of the club. He probably imagines long term Giggs will be manager. We're spending big showing ambition. And I don't think he will worry about the players in front of him. I think he would be confident of games.

If he was going Manchester? It wouldn't be to City. Could be wrong of course but Uniteds finances mean it would be risky of City to haggle if that's what they've been doing

Sterling will not be sold to United, it's that simple really.

1. Liverpool would undeniably be pissed off if they had to pay Sterling's wages for two years while he rotted away in the reserves. That is the worst-case scenario for everyone involved.
2. Correct, you'd lose out on more than £40m as you'd not only be missing out on a huge transfer fee but be spending 40k a week for two years on a player to not play.

The matter is already as good as concluded. Sterling will be sold this summer, all that remains to be seen is who to and how much for.

You missed the Euros bit and the Suarez World Cup comparison scenario. He will play and play well to be selected for England. It's a good thing our want away twats get their international timings all fcked up.

We'll still spank him on non match days though. ;)

Yeah, he will play well to be selected for England, but he's not going to be doing it in a Liverpool shirt anymore. It's basically going to be a case of who blinks first out of City and Liverpool, but you can rest assured one of them will do so before the window shuts. That's not even accounting for other clubs like Arsenal or Chelsea getting involved.

Sterling is a ridiculous gobshite. Every time he opens his mouth, his story changes. If I ran the club, he could go for 44M as soon as he puts in a transfer request. Otherwise he could enjoy training with the reserves.

Berahinho has left Aidy Ward. He's not a twat any longer now he's seen the light.

It was ridiculous when Rooney (and Stretford) did it, but Sterling and Ward have taken it to new heights. Absolutely ridiculous.

Good on Berahino for dropping Ward. I understand players can benefit from having someone looking after their interests, but surely, as the footballer, at some point you have to stop and think about the fact that it is your own name that you are dragging through the mud by listening to this person?

The situation has disintegrated so much that I can't help but feel we should put a bid in ourselves. Worst case scenario, things get even more ugly at Liverpool and City end up paying more than they want. Best case scenario, we get one of the best young players in the world. Very unlikely we sign him but he'd be pretty much perfect for us.

Agreed, can't see the harm, I think he's a top talent.

It would be hilarious if Liverpool were forced to sell him cheap when his contract is getting run down. Their owners are too greedy to let his contract run down and not play him and showing some steel in the process. They'll never do that.

The little twerp has missing training again today apparently.

I reckon City paying more is worse for United because they can afford it. For Liverpool, an extra £10 million could mean the difference between buying Benteke or not. I'd rather be facing Balotelli or Ings for Liverpool next season, put it that way.

TBH I do want City to sign him. Firstly he's not that good and stuggles to kick a ball properly and City aren't going to be massive improved. Secondly they'll use a good proportion of their budget on him (if they even have one). Thirdly it really isn't the club to develop a player. I mean how many have pushed on there and how many have gone backwards?

Bid. Bid. Bid. Bid.

Who gives a shit if they won't accept, the drama would be hilarious.

They wouldn't but the accompanying soap opera would be a joy to watch. Imagine if Sterling decided to go on strike to force a move to United.

IMO the circus that would surround that transfer, especially since we play Liverpool so early in the season, would be a detriment to us. Best off enjoying this one from afar.

If he gets his move to city. No one will remember after 3 months. Do you remember Berbabtov's strike?

The anger and rage from Liverpool fans if we somehow agreed a deal to bring him here would be hilarious, unfortunately it's never going to happen though. It would be fun if we declared our interest and made a move for him but they would never accept so obvious he's off to City, the only other club who would never sell to us either so probably best not to waste our time even though he would likely jump at the chance. So funny though that he's called in sick for training twice, Brendan must be furious.

Yes, I do. I certainly see your point though, but perhaps we have different values. Not a huge fan of burning bridges myself.

Pack your bags, Sterling! Liverpool tell unsettled star he must go on tour.

What exactly happens to a player who refuses to co-operate. Once you've fined him all his wages, is that it? Or can they fine him some more? Sue him for breach of contract? Football clubs would never dare go to a proper court of law, for fear of what would happen when proper lawyers got their hands on the transfer system.

Liverpool aren't going to win this one.

Until he decides to go in strike a couple of years from now.

While it is hilarious to see City spending more, on the other side that would mean that Liverpool will get more money. The winner would be Southampton, of course.

I think if anyone signs him it should be on the condition he gets a better agent.
The whole saga has been a farce, i wouldn't sign him even if we could tbh. Just too much drama.

I sympathise for Liverpool. Sterling is always going only downward from this imo. He will be extremely scrutinised in city and as far as I have seen him he doesn't do particularly well when under pressure.

I can't imagine what people here would have said as people having a go at de gea when he hasn't done anything that is worth abusing him like not train or publicly announce his interest to leave or give interviews.

He's really badly advised. There are ways to force a move without looking like a complete arsehole.

This is only going to toughen Liverpool's stance on selling him.

Just paid a little more attention to this 'saga':D and it seems to me that the media and Liverpool FC are manipulating the narrative here. Sterling hasn't conducted himself well but I actually thought there was a ring of truth in that 'Mirror' article explaining why he doesn't trust Brendan Rogers, as for example, private conversations they've had tend to end up in the public domain. I find myself being very slightly sympathetic to Sterling here. He's young and doesn't have a good agent, so doesn't handle this situation very well. Should never have said anything in public in the first place i.e. his 'interview'. In any case, having seen Brendan throw some of his players under the bus, I'm pretty certain that Sterling has a case here. Unfortunately for him, the media love Liverpool and Brendan (for some unknown reason:rolleyes:) and will not present a balanced view of the situation. So basically, he's more than likely fecked.
