I think he should stay tbh ... he needs game time more than anything really.
Suppose he could get that at city and have a better standard of player around him to learn from though.

Just cant see him playing week in, week out anywhere else really.
He would start for us to be fair. Depay, Rooney, Sterling is a hell of a front 3.

But, he does buy a lot of British talent.

I'm sorry I worded it poorly, I meant it in the sense he doesn't seem to get involved in 30mills for Shaw, 25mill for Lallana, 28m for Millners, 85mill for Bale etc etc etc, when the fee's start to rise disproportionately due to being Premier League tested/British, he's always seemed to look elsewhere.
While other clubs, us being one, are more likely to be prepared to pay extra.

I've always wondered when stories like this about players come up, how awkward it must be to come into training the next day. If it were me I'd try and ghost for the day.
Yeah, its hard enough when theres a casual bit of gossip going around about you in the workplace, but on the tabloid scale? feck me.

He battled us to sign 19 year old Phil Jones and he spent a significant amount of money for Ox considering at the time he had not played at a higher level than League One.

Yup, so... one player? 12mill for Ox?,
alright, its rather compareable to the fees of 28mills in 2006 for Rooney, 31mill for Rio, 30mill for Shaw, apparent world record fee for Bale etc

Grade A cnut. A few goals and thinks he is king. Hope he rots wherever he goes.

After he's cleaned out his locker and is walking out the Shankley Gates, he should turn to Rodgers and go "Steady"

Or

He should write the name of the team he wants to play for on a piece of paper, stick it in an envelope and send it to Brendan.

Or

He should ring Gerrard and go, "BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA" down the phone.

I'm comfortable with any of the 3

I'd select di maria ahead of him. And we have januzaj anyway, we've got the young, potentially great winger spot covered.

Only reason i'd want him is to piss off liverpool tbh.

No denying he is a good player but I think last year, the brilliance of Suarez flattered him a bit. He got the same hype that Lennon and Walcott got when they first appeared and I think that will end up being his level, too.

All he has is pace. You take that away and u get your average sunday league player

Sterling pace is not even that great. His dribbling and vision is what makes him a top talent. Comparing him to the likes of Lennon and Walcott is just beyond lazy.

Really think his form has dropped drastically since the rumours surrounding his contract surfaced. At the current rate Pool would be happy to get money off him. Although he is a good talent and the move by Liverpool can swing eitherway.

City, Arse or Chelski bound.

£40m I reckon. Worth it.

He's a top talent and utter twat. Can't doubt it.

I've always said he needs to go to a big club - as opposed to a club with big ideas still living on past glories - to properly fulfil his potential. Liverpool are going nowhere under Rodgers, whose ego significantly exceeds his abilities as manager, and FSG is not prepared to put the necessary funds into trying to attract top class players.

Sterling has made the right decision, regardless of where he ends up.

City probably wouldn't be in the race for Bale anyway. Would cost too much. We could compete for him but he would take too significant a chunk out of our budget for any pursuit to be worthwhile.

Don't agree. We will be in for bale regardless of price and city will not have FFP restrictions this summer.

Technically he isn't the best but an exciting young talent nonetheless. I've realised about Rodgers he is a good coach/tactician but as a man manager he has a long way to go. He will get it because he is young but he is having issues with players too often. He throws players under the bus when things are going badly and maps it up when things are going well. I respect Sterling for taking control of his future though he wouldn't start for any top 4 club. So where he goes from here is my guess.

Sterling is overrated as feck but he's still on a different planet to Januzaj.

He is excellent, technically.

Have you seen his record in cup competitions and against Top 4 opposition?

Pity there's no chance of us getting him. I'd rather pay 50m for Sterling than 80m for Bale.

Only a matter of time until Coutinho will want to leave too. They had a big chance to strengthen last year with CL football and they spent over 100M last year on Southampton players, some donkeys around Europe that nobody wanted and Mario fecking Balotelli.

I'd rather pay the extra 30m for Bale.

Sterling has had a season or two of blowing hot and cold and he has a serious high opinion of himself or attitude problem. I'd love to see the look on LvG's face if Sterling arrived into his office and asked for a break cause he's tired. A prima donna.

Hes a good player, but seeing as we signed Depay, i dont want him here for a number of reasons.

1. Hes not that good and seeing as hes british, he sure will be overpriced.
2. Hes a diving, whiny twat
3. While i enjoy drama in the Liverpool camp as much as the next guy, i can see why the fans are angry with him. No loyalty, and he has acted like a greedy, entitled twat.

Obviously I don't want him to leave, but his performances frankly this season, especially the past few months have been terrible.
I do feel a bit sorry for him in terms of the position he has been played in, which is down to the manager as we have no capable strikers, however he has been at the club a long time.
No loyalty in the game anymore.

I am still not sure the club will let him go - but if they do they need to make every penny count.

A total contrast to young Ibe who doesn't even have an agent.

On a different subject we have a really good young kid coming through also, Sheyi Ojo. I think he will probably go on loan next season, but could follow the same path as Ibe.

I'm sure both parties here are responsible for this debacle but honestly, Sterling comes across as an insufferable bastard with a far to high opinion of himself.

He's not had a particularly good season and accomplished nothing of note in his career thus far. If his alleged wage demands are true I think it's ridiculous and vastly inflated to his real worth. Furthermore, the ruse of "winning trophies" doesn't fly for a player who would not start on a team capable of such. Sterling shouldnt be a sure fire starter on any title contender in the EPL. I think he's a talented player and I'm sure he will continue to improve, but I don't believe he'll ever be truly world class.

Personally I think the best thing for Sterling is consistent game time in a consistent system. If Rodgers provides a consistent role for Sterling throughout the year (I realize injuries played a role in Sterlings inconsistent positions this year) I think staying at Liverpool is in his best interest. He is definitely not going to get that at City or Arsenal.

Overrated.

Overpriced.

Utter twat.

We don't want him.

the loyalty thing with stirling makes me laugh.

they poached him from QPR. Its not like they have brought him through since he was 7.

Its exactly the same scenario with us and Pogba.

If you poach a young player by offering this, that and the other you cant really be suprised when he fecks off when another club come promising the world.

I'm firmly in the 'he's not as good as people think' camp. A lot of this is due to how Liverpool (club and fans) are so desperate to have a 'star' and feel a God given right to have a 'world class player'.

Not so sure about city, if he leaves for an English club it will almost certainly be Chelsea, possibly arsenal if Chelsea aren't interested.

Regarding price, if shaw is worth 27m (which he is) then i don't think wanting close to 40m for sterling with two years left on contract is unreasonable. 40 or over is just silly though, but there is a British tax to pay

I'm a bit shocked people are comparing him to Lennon and Walcott. His technique, dribbling and vision are already far better than either of those two. It's his finishing that let's him down massively but he's still scored a decent number of goals.

It's just lazy stereotyping.

lennon was highly rated around the same age, same for walcott.

I agree. IMO Sterling would fit our style like a glove, he is better in tight spaces and IMO he will be a better player than Bale in few years.

I like Bale but for me he has reaches his ceiling, and I’m not sure if he’s the right man for van Gaal style. And he would be much more expensive so I’m not sure he’s worth it.

I rate him much higher than Memphis. His main weekness is finishing but other than that he's very well suited to winger/wide attacker. He has the brain, technique, speed and agility to become one of the best in the league.
