Berba's was prolly the hardest technically

Totally disagree so it must just be in the player's preference. Keeping down Rafael's volley, directing it on target, whilst running at pace, that's much harder. I'd back myself to hit Berba's volley pretty well at least 45% of the time. Wow, even just 25% of the time would be much better than I'd trust myself to hit Rafael's, it's a ridiculous hit and that why it'll leave more people gobsmacked than Berba's.

I hardly celebrated Rafael's at the weekend, I was actually laughing in shock at the hit.

I always though a volley was a ball taken on the full before it bounced. While a half volley was one where it has bounced first?

A half volley is where you strike it just as it hits the ground

Here's a thought, is Rafael the best South American to have played for us? Or am I just knocking Heinze and Tevez down the list for being cnuts?

Love the little guy.
But just barely a pass if lucky after this tie.

A shame. But it will definitely make him a better player in the long run! Playing against one of the best wingers/strikers in the world.

What a player this guy is, absolutely ran himself into the ground for us tonight.

Hope he's in the running for player of the season. Has rose to every challenge in front of him

He was incredible, he was absolutely feckED when he was subbed, worked his bollocks off yet again, I love him.

Great fighter who gives his all for the cause, I’m thrilled to see Rafael’s outstanding progress as a gifted right back. He had another strong performance tonight which was unfortunately masked by the disappointing result.

He has the perfect attitude for a footballer. Pure passion and ability. Now it is up to Fergie to trust Fábio, who also has enormous talent.

How lucky are we to have this guy? the lad is already putting in world class performances and he's only 22. Scary potential.

Played really well I thought today. Kept the right side very quite for most of the match and was on top of things.

Fighter, absolute fighter. Hopefully gets a medal or two around his neck to consummate his 'I became a man' season.

I can't get over how much he ran himself into the ground, these 2 legs will be an invaluable experience for the lad.

As gutting as last night was, experiences like that will make the youngsters Stronger. Rafael is an absolute monster though, his driving run from deep was the reason we scored. He really is invaluable.

had a tough game against 1 of the bpitw but he more than stood up to the challenge. Wouldn't swap him for any right back in the world.

The feck? :wenger:

It's not the first time he's let his man ghost in at the back post to score. Won't be the last. Like I said he will learn more from this and be a better player.

Ran his arse off but unfortunately it only takes one loose brick to bring down a tower.

The best fullbacks in the world get caught out by balls across the box like that

Wouldn't classify that one as being caught out, he's the right side of Ronaldo and relatively close to him. But the way the ball is running means its out if Rafaels reach, but a Ronaldo diving in gets to it. Rafael can't stretch for it or he risks the own goal. Just a really great ball in.

Ridiculous comment. If anything Vidic is more culpable than Rafael because he didn't get close enough on Higuain and let him cross.

I'm surprised only one person has mentioned how he lost Ronaldo for his goal.

Overall he had a fantastic game, but at the top level it's these one moments that define games. He's still got some way to go before he's as good as some on here think he is, i.e. best RB in Prem/Europe/World/Top 3 etc.
