Rafa Benitez | Sacked (Fachts)

Bound to clash with Jose surely?

Or you mean Mike Ashley?

The relationship is already on thin ice. I wouldn't be surprised if he walks in the summer if Ashley or Carr interfere with signings.

Congrats Benitez. Finally english Champion

He will probably fall out with Ashley over the summer and leave

Whilst that chump still owns that club, Newcastle ain't going anywhere

As much as the caf hates rafa, gotta say he does a job wherever he goes.

I think he could do something great with Newcastle and get them challenging in a few year if he is backed up by the chairman.

UEFA qualifiers within 3 years I reckon.
I don't see anyone better than them outside the top 6.

Just to clarify, challenge for what? The league?

Lol. Like I said not many on here like rafa, and yeah suppose he's had a couple of hiccups along the way in his career. But he is a very good manager whether we like it or not.

Newcastle are a true sleeping giant in english football with great fans and a quality stadium.

All the ingredients are there to create a top notch football club. They have come close in the past but fecked up at the final hurdle.

There isnt that many managers in the game to get them there. Rafa has the expirience to do it I reckon.

As for challenging carlsen19 it depends on how the chairman is gonna back him. In my previous post I meant challenging for top 4.

Happy to see Newcastle as a force back in the PL. As long as Ashley doesn't fecking replace Rafa with sodding Moyes or Owl once Rafa invariably walks out by September.

You'll probably get giggled at but I agree, to a point. If Rafa was given a sensible amount of money I could easily see Newcastle becoming the best of the rest. Obviously not in the first season but one year to consolidate and I think they'll be able to kick on.

Then again, it's Newcastle. More chance that Benitez resigns when they're top of the league after 3 wins at the seasons beginning. They'll then spend all of the money that he wanted but manage to lose 10 on the spin. Then everyone will find out where Dennis Wise has been hiding.

They simply won't have the money to compete, and Rafa will fall out with Ashley. Newcastle outside top 8 next season.

At last - the fat waiter is back!!!
All you punks who didnt appreciate my power point slides are gonna get it!

Made some decent buys at Napoli. Mertens, Callejon, Koulibaly and Higuain. Also for us too. He'll be in a different market now so interesting to see how it goes.

Reckon he'll be back with you in 2019 after Brick Top crash and burn when trying to juggle the CL, league and the domestic cups next season, imploding in the process.

Participating in Eurovision one night, greeting runners in Liverpool the next morning. Fair play.

Way to motivate your players.

What a moron.

Carragher spoke a lot of sense on MNF about Benitez, which of course, got him lynched on RAWK.

Their blinding obsession with him knows no bounds. There was a sizeable portion of their site who predicted Newcastle for a Top 4 finish this season in a poll they ran prior to the season's opener.

Don't think he's wrong. A lot of them contributed to them getting sent down in the first place and a bunch were recruited to help win the Championship. Maybe some really have found their level and can't make the step up. No shame in that, but it would stupid to keep on with a bunch that really isn't talented enough to stay at the top table (which a lot of newly promoted clubs do anyway, resulting in going down straight away). I'm sure a bunch of them are just waiting for a Championship club to ask for their services as they probably won't be getting any games in the PL, so it has to be distracting, plus Rafa needs the funds to buy legitimate PL-level depth. If this continues and Ashley persists in not spending money, Rafa will be gone before the next window.

He's obviously right. But yeah, definitely not the wisest thing to say in public.

These championship level players got him promoted last season. Don't see Huddersfield manager or Brighton manager moaning. Burnley did fine last season.

Needs to shut his mouth and get on with it.

Just got knocked out of the League Cup at the 2nd Round. I'm not sure what exactly the problem is at Newcastle (Mike Ashley?) but I've heard that Benitez hasn't been happy all summer with regards to transfers in and out.

I was expecting a decent season from them.

He'll walk if the owners don't give him the funds to buy players.

He stuck with them through relegation and won the Championship. He has my respect for doing that. They should allow him to build his own team now.

Yeah it's quite incredible that a manager with his accomplishments managed in the championship. As much as we mock, it's quite admirable and says a lot about how much he enjoys his job.

Not the best statement to make but Newcastle as a football club appear really delusional. I saw their game on the weekend and the square is terrible. I mean, Gayle as your main striker? Ive only seen him in the PL and he's always looked awful. Mike Ashley had to reiterate the fact that they're Newcastle in an interview. I would have thought that their fans would have known the limitations the club has.

He has massive penalties in his contract if he walks.

He's been done like a kipper with that one.

He's a bit shit. All this talk about respect because he's managed in the Championship is nonsense.

He knows his position at the club is pretty much untouchable because the fans love him so much. I used to live up there last year and even when they went down their fans were happy because Rafa had agreed to stay. They literally think he is a god up there and can do no wrong, and he's used that position in the media to call out Ashley, to criticise his squad and moan about everything. There's no positivity at the club despite them getting promoted.

Granted, they haven't hit the market strongly but most clubs are finding it difficult. They have spent £11m on Jacob Murphy from Norwich, a few years back that would get you a very good player now it's getting them an average winger who has never played in the Prem? Never seen Lejuene play but he's highly rated and cost £9m. Atsu and Joselu cost around £10m together, and are decent enough signings, good enough to do a job in the Prem. Merino is highly rated at Dortmund and it's a good loan signing and Manquilo has played in the division before and has done ok.

There are no stellar signings there but they have to be realistic, £30-40m while seeming like a lot of money hardly goes anywhere in the window nowadays. Rafa seems to be just making constant excuses and ways to blame Ashley if they struggle. I expect them to make 1-2 more signings and spend upwards of £50m in the window so they can't complain about that.

What was he saying?
