Rafa Benitez | Sacked (Fachts)

they will need a few good investments..... a quick look at Middlesbrough shows you the importance of scoring goals in the division

Gayle in particular is a Championship striker and Mitrovic is someone who will score 10 goals max in the league

Real sacking Ancelotti to replace him with Benitez will forever be the most hilarious managerial change in the history of sport.

Welcome back Magpies!

Since I was living in Newcastle for more than one year myself I am really happy for them. Let's see how they'll do next season. Think Rafa is a great coach for them and he can definitely build something there.

Think sacking Rafa for Hodgson was worse to be honest.

Erm, no, there's a lot wrong with that.
  • Shelvey is never in his life a #10. Not in a Rafa system. No.
  • Mitrovic couldn't finish a meal. His confidence is shattered and he's a disaster waiting to happen with his temper. Gayle ahead of him forever.
  • Atsu ahead of Aarons, all day every day and twice on Sundays.
Krul is out of contract in the summer and unlikely to rejoin. Siem de Jong may come back.

Regarding the French lads, Saviet and Riviere are never PL quality. Marveaux was released and Thauvin's loan was made permanent earlier so I doubt we're seeing value out of them. Colback is only a "good option" if your plane has crashed landed on a snowy mountainside and you need to decide who to kill first for food. Ayoze has been wasteful and largely disappointing after a fairly good year last year. Anita is a solid backup.

As for the squad being better than I think, that's fairly condescending of you [edit: I get that it's coming from a good place, but still] - I've watched our games all season and last year, did you? I know what the squad is made of. There's not a lot of quality there, trust me.

I'm over the moon that we're up but I think it's dangerous of any toon fan to underestimate the now even larger task of rebuilding for the premier league.

That defence is shocking, you don't have a PL keeper and there us a severe lack of a real solid PL striker. Needs a lot of work and investment! Their best hope is to do a Swansea, survive the first season and hope to have time. Its crucial you keep Rafa though

I have a few friends who follow Burton Albion every match home and away, and they have all said Newcastle just aren't that good. Brighton were the best team that saw this season.

Gayle has been the difference against teams like Burton, but I cannot see him doing the same against premier league defenses. They would need to make some significant investment to stay up I think.

Nah. Benitez gets a lot of flak on here and he's a better manager than people give him credit for.

Moyes replacing Ferguson was the biggest managerial cock up in my lifetime.

I quite like Rafa, he's alright. Despite his association with the dippers.

Good on him for sticking with them when they were relegated, and good for them for bouncing straight back - I like having Newcastle around, they're unintentionally funny. Pretty deluded bunch but undoubtedly a big club deserving of a PL spot.

SAF left though, I should have worded it better. My point was about actually sacking Ancelotti to replace him with Benitez.

Congratulations to Rafa and the Toon army.

It will be interesting to see if he stays, remember he was not happy about the lack of investment in the January window.
I would not be surprised to see him accept an offer from elsewhere assuming he would get funds to invest in new talent.

A quick question mate.. Are you from Liverpool?

He should've done better with the money they've spent. Not sure why Benitez makes it so likely they'll stay up. I think they'll have a tough year next season, especially if they don't considerably improve their squad.
He's got automatic promotion and while they've had a dip in form they've bounced straight back into the Premier League after being relegated.

Not sure how much more people should be expecting to be honest.

Rafa is a great manager should be taken with a pinch of salt from many people from that area...;)

Haha.

Actually I think Rafa is at the top of the list of potential managers Newcastle could potentially get. So for them he is a huge update compared to their previous onces. I know people often laugh at Rafa but I think he is good in managing an 'underdog' so him at Newcastle could work quite well.

According from many from that area he is the best in the world and close to being the father of the baby Jesus..
But I get what you are saying he is probably the best that this club can do.

I know the Scousers hail him as one of the all-time greatest. He is good, however, and as stated one of the top managers a club like Newcastle could possibly get. I think he will enrich the PL and I rather have someone like Rafa than McClaren in the PL. :D

Rafa is one of the top managers, not saying the greatest though.

I liked the football he played at Chelsea even though a hard core hated him for previous comments he made against the club.

I see him as being ambitious, so if he does not get funds to invest he will walk at the first good opportunity.

Too much "Rafa" love here!

I suppose it's which version of football you subscribe too.

1.in the moment it's the most important thing on earth and you would sell your soul for that all important goal, that we 'HATE' our rivals and nothing on earth matters.

2. It's Huge..people that don't get it just quite simply don't get it. Getting a win over you lot make my day..the nerves at build up is hard too explain. Being a bit angry getting all out of your system..and then going too work on a Monday morning and being aware that it's just a group of lads licking a bag of wind.

I'm a Liverpool Fan. Fergie has done my head in..as years have passed he's just a guy that was good at what he did and made you what you are today. I remember him talking about his grandson winning some five aside or something. He's a decent bloke. (Still can't stand him)

Rafa is a genuinely nice man. I know this is regarded of bullshit until proven but I've met him a couple of times. Just a funny Spanish bloke.

Anyway. That's the way I see it

They will spend loads probably because Rafa loves a transfer. Not even convinced he will stay tbh

People claiming Newcastle are a massive club fecking does my swede in though... they aint, they have won jack shit since the 60's? Bar the championship title.

they just have a big support as the only other real teams to support are Sunderland, Gateshead or Blyth Spartans really in their area. Hartlepool too

He's overrated. Will probably spend 50m+ then have a moan mid way through the season about not having the funds.

Would be good to see Rafa in the Prem again - going up against all the other top managers.

Good to see him stick around and bring them straight back up. Never nice for a manager to come in and endure the shit that's a hangover from the previous failures, so it's good to banish the negativity from the club and not get stuck with the title of having been the one to take them down and do no more. Hope he gets the support he needs for them next season.

What must it be like to be a Sunderland fan right now. Stayed up at their expense, got Moyes, and are now replacing them. To top it all off, Moyes will probably still be there next season.

Rafa's record looks weird now. Winner of the Champions League, La Liga and now the Championship.

It's like a Football Manager what if scenario.

True Geordie might be interesting next season if Newcastle go back to being shite.

Have to give credit as it could have been so easy for him to leave when they were relegated. He will need to change the spine of the team if he gets the funds but he has the experience to do well. If he can get them an FA Cup or into the Europa League, that would be very good achievement.

Almost saved them in few months, then had them promoted after just one year. Now i would like to see him during a full season. Think Newcastle can be a good thing for him and for the club.

Congrats! I miss having Newcastle in the prem whenever they're gone. I'm interested to see how Rafa does next year.

As much as the caf hates rafa, gotta say he does a job wherever he goes.

I think he could do something great with Newcastle and get them challenging in a few year if he is backed up by the chairman.

UEFA qualifiers within 3 years I reckon.
