Rafa Benitez | Sacked (Fachts)

Two losses in a row now. Watched their first game and they were royally fecked by the ref. A Newcastle friend claims the same happened today but they should really beat Huddersfield anyway.

Newcastle got their own 'Wayne Rooney problem'. FSW keeps playing the worst DM in the world, Anita, all the time despite being utterly crap.

2 losses in 2 games despite unbeaten shouts at the start of the season. Wonder how long it'll take before the Newcastle fans turn on the man that took them down.

I'm more interested to see what Liverpool fans say about it all. It's never Rafa's fault in their eyes.

He is chatting bollocks. Everyone who was watching said Huddersfield were the better team in the first half. Second half obviously Newcastle improved.

I can see Benitez leaving in a few months. He has struggled against teams when he isn't the underdog.

Likely not long.

Hoping for an obligatory expletive filled rant from The True Geordie later on today.

There are still 44 games left, they have played 4% of their league games this season

At this time, maybe it is better that he becomes a DOF instead of a manager.

His kryptonite has pretty much always been beating the sides he's expected to beat so it's not an ideal league for him to be in. He should come up with them, though.

Nothing interesting. They'll just inundate the poor bastards working at Newcastle with hundreds of emails about how Ashley isn't giving Rafa the support he needs.

They still think he's "boss".

It's actually pretty sad since he's been a complete & utter failure of a manager since that fluke CL win. Never mind the fact he almost single-handedly destroyed a treble winning side that still haven't recovered from his brief yet disastrous tenure or both Napoli & Madrid improving greatly since his departure.

Likely not long.

It'll be glorious won't it? My favourite football-related channel atm.

Get rid of him Newcastle. He isn't a man you want in "the trenches" in a league like the Championship full of battlers and bruisers. You need Neil Fecking Warnock who can give the lads a proper old school bolloxing !!

Please don't spoil the enjoyment of the rampant piss-taking with common sense and reason. :)

I wonder what excuses those dimwit scousers will make for him this time.

Think they will improve when Mitrovic returns,Mitrovic isnt that good but he will free Perez and he should be on the win instead of Anita.

Aye, Anita's fecking hopeless. Perez is obviously a talented player and could really cause serious problems to many of those Championship defences if given the opportunity and more importantly if he has the desire to do so. However, the burning question is whether he will bother his arse or not regardless of where he plays. We know Mitrovic will but his problem isn't lack of effort but more a lack of ability to finish a goal-scoring chance.

Sack watch should be between Garry monk or Rafa Benitez in the championship.

Banter and rival fans tribalism apart I doubt you will find many football fans in the world who consider Rafa a joke or Wenger ridiculous. Sure there are some Arsenal fans who want a change but I doubt many of them are ridiculing him.

I'm not sure how knowing Madrid are a sacking club is relevant - its not about sympathy. Its about understanding why events happen. As for Newcastle he was brought in too late. His overall record there was a massive improvement on what went before - the same record over a season would have seen Newcastle finish 11th. Any manager going in there at that time would have found it difficult. His results against Sunderland and Norwich were poor, but both were very early in his short tenure and must be balanced by the fact that he got draws against Liverpool and City and a win against Spurs (albeit after their fate was sealed). Its obvious to anyone that had he been brought in earlier it would be Sunderland who went down.

I can't picture him looking down the back of the sofa for 50p for the meter so I doubt money is a consideration - if it was I'm sure he could have held out for something even more lucrative. His family undoubtedly is a huge factor, but it cannot be the only one otherwise he would not have had the original release clause inserted.

Obviously opinions are clouded by team allegiances - thats understandable. But there is no doubting the fact that the football world as a whole thinks that it is a massive coup for Newcastle to retain Rafa in the championship - that is good enough for me to show that he is still a manger of high stature.
Sensible reading. I think another factor for the slow start could be the significant player turnover. A necessary evil, but a lot of new players to integrate. Did you see the game today, do you know how Newcastle played? I'm on hols and couldn't find it on the Internet or in a bar.

Bollocks post. Anita isn't hopeless, he's just not a defensive mid. He's actually quite good on the ball, and versatile too. And Mitro's problem has nothing to do with scoring ability, his issue is with his temperament...too many cards, and a loss of concentration when players wind him up. He is 21/22 though, so might grow out of it.

A very significant reason you went down last season was because you had one set of players who didn't make the effort and another set who simply were not good enough. Guys like Wijnaldum and Sissoko belong to the first group. Others like Papa Cisse and Anita are very much part of the latter.

Don't know how the game went mate - I'm sure it must be highly frustrating for Newcastle fans as they probably expected to be ripping up the championship from the get go. Its early days tho - and as you say maybe its partially down to new players needing time.

Pretty harsh to be having ago at him, he'll be class with them in League One :p

But seriously, what went on there today? At home against Huddersfield and they manage to lose?!

Benitez has always had a bit of a prideful chip on his shoulder. He can get a little toxic when things don't go his way. He could star losing interest in Newcastle quickly if he doesn't think the players and club aren't responsive to his leadership.

He's a good manager, but he doesn't have the character for rough seas. The fallout with Hicks and Gillette was understandable, but he played a role as his team turned stale. Sackings since haven't exactly humbled him.

I don't think he'll have the stomach for the grind the season could be if the Championship proves to be a bit of a grind.

Early yet. He could shape them into a lean, promotion ready team by the new year.

From the Champions League with Real to the relegation zone in the Championship in less than one year

Going to the Bristol City v Newcastle game on Saturday. Hoping he gets a lot of abuse. Tempted to start the "Fat Spanish waiter" chant, not sure if it would catch on though :D

On a serious note, I'm very surprised with their 2 losses so far. I think now is the time for Championship teams to play them, the squad is far from settled and still very new to the level. It's a surprisingly high level for some players that have come in, I would imagine.

I've said it already it in the "Championship thread" that i would be frustrated but not really worried as Newcastle fan about the start of the season.......they should have beaten Fulham (It was just a bad day at the office) and i think you can lose against Huddersfield because they'll play for the promotion.
