Not from today's medical but he sort of looks like that guy from the movies.

So are those £350k per week rumours true then? Or is it just Ogden being an idiot again?
Its the latter. Key words being Monaco, loan deal and tax-free. 180k apparently is what we have to pay, plus loan fee.

If after the World Cup you had given me:

Shaw
Herrera
Blind
Rojo
Di Maria
Falcao

I'd take them, kick you in the Travellers then hide them away thinking it wasn't true and that someone would try and take them away.

Phenomenal business by the club this window.

Why do people care so much about the money? It's 180k per week and even if it was 300k a week who cares? He's the best number 9 in the world, or at least he was before his injury. :)

Yet the fact we still look short in midfield and defence shows the true extent of the state our squad was (and in some respects still is) in. Still, can't complain....muppets dream come true.

He hasn't played in the CL for 5 years :eek:

feck me thats criminal.

The lads on TalkSport tonight are having a right meltdown tonight.. claiming it's "unethical" because the loan market blah blah. Stan is also saying Ander Herrera is a poor midfielder haha bitter bitter people.

On a side note, how fecking rich are we??

Surely this demonstrates we have the most financial power in Europe?

He's like a beautiful, talented actress who only does B-Movies.

Worry not, though, for he shall be experiencing the echoes of that sweet CL music next year.

Gary Neville on TalkSport in a minute.. Stan now rabbiting on about the youth policy and what not, god these people

Ok. So let's say we are paying his wages to Monaco so they can give it to him tax free (sounds dodgy as feck in itself) what happens if we want him permanently?

His wages are gonna be stupid here after tax surely?

He's officially arrived at Carrington. Sky Sports just showed footage of his car arriving.

EDIT: As an aside, is anyone else getting miffed at the Sky Sports presenter pronouncing his name as 'Falco'?

Stop calling him Falco Kirsty Gallacher!

I was watching BBC news earlier on with the sub-titles on. They said United had signed Fat Cow.

It won't fully sink in what Woody has achieved this summer until the team gels together, the thought of Falcao lining up alongside Di Maria is very surreal indeed, and it is impossible not to question Falcao's fitness or form or anything to explain the move logically.

Bravo Woody i will never doubt you again after this summer.

I hope LVG will bench whoever is not in form, and that includes Mata or Fletch as well
And Valencia
I've no doubts LVG will have the balls to drop anyone in that team but with Hernandez and Wellbeck looking on their way out there is room enough to squeeze Falcao in :D

But wait I'm confused. I thought the deal was 6m?

And what's this about 350k in wages? What the feck are we doing?

The Telegraph has taken his €9m net earnings figure and calculated what it would cost if United paid it as UK personal income to a UK tax resident. Football wages at the high end don't work like that.

What a crazy day, mate mentioned this last night and I laughed....woke up this morning to my phone buzzin' and then him laughing with a big 'told you so'. You look at the players in our team and can't help but get a tad excited, we might not have the perfect team (give it time) but we're on the way!

This kind of logic is why we are close to Spurs than Bayern. Fact.

If we were to be getting some great striker, it must have been one who would have offered us 6+ years of great service rather than who would have offered us only 2-3 years. We already have van Persie for that; why did we have to get another one? By getting in Falcao, we could potentially lose Welbeck permanently, thus losing the chance of getting 6+ years of great service from one player. Unless we let Welbeck go on loan for a year with a view to bring him back as a first-team player and only keep Falcao here on loan for one season, I won't see this as a sensible transfer just like how I didn't find the van Persie transfer sensible. Spending on established players is fine as long as they make up for deficiencies. Does Falcao make up for any? Not really.

Transfers are done to resolve issues and address deficiencies, not to get in big names for the sake of getting them in.

Re: ages

Signing Falcao wouldn't be a huge change to our overall age profile but him and Di Maria are both in their prime as footballers. Which is an age category where we've been a bit deficient in recent years. Lots of players heading towards the end of their careers, mixed with young 'uns who are still a little bit undercooked. Our two latest signings should be playing the best football of their life over the next 2-3 years. Which is not something you could say about many players in our squad before this summer.

Re: Welbeck

I really hope he gets a loan deal, with a view to coming back to United in another year or two.

As I said earlier, I'm happy with di Maria as he's an upgrade on Nani who we've moved on. Given Nani's injury issues, which resulted in him not establishing himself in the first team in the past couple of years, I'm happy we've moved on from him and got someone better. With Falcao, however, I don't see him as a significant improvement on Rooney and van Persie. Sure, he may look like that as van Persie and Rooney are currently struggling to perform well with Welbeck injured. However, once we move on from this patchy phase, I believe we'll see that Falcao won't be someone we really needed (assuming that van Persie won't be unavailable for a long time).

In terms of great players in their prime, we have several of those in Rooney, van Persie, Mata, di Maria, and Evans. Then, we have Herrera, de Gea, Welbeck, Rafael, Smalling, Jones, Shaw, Rojo, Blind, and Januzaj who are established first-team-level players nearing their prime (in Shaw and Januzaj's case, still developing). As you can see, we have one winger, one attacking midfielder, one central defender, and two strikers in their prime. What's the point of getting a third striker in their prime? Getting another central midfielder in their prime would have made more sense as we only have Herrera and Blind who are currently first-team-level players for the midfield roles. Getting a third striker in their prime doesn't make much sense to me.

So where is the Neville and Scholes criticism?

Neville just on talkSport now, doubt he'll say much controversial but I'm expecting to hear a few comments in the next few days about this not being the United way, always had a spirit in the club due to having local lads at the heart of the club, Jorge Mendes selling us mercenaries etc..
