What the absolute feck is going on here? We're bringing in Falcao now? It's like Woodward has been playing FM14 with a billion in the bank for 6 months and now can't separate fiction from reality.

I'd love to hear with Fergie thinks of all this. It's exciting times and has renewed some confidence after the awful start to the season but it's a complete change to our whole club ethos during our successful years.

This loan is going to smoothly. Where is the imposters?

Just got home.Had no internet access all day and hadn't even thought about deadline day.In the car on the way home I thought, I bet we've signed Falcao.I may be unknowingly in the know or phsycic. One or the other.

Anyway thoughts on the transfer:
Ridiculous of money for a player we don't need.Don't really give a fcuk about our spending though we're loaded but why oh why couldn't we have spent that on a midfielder.

The fact that he won't be at City or Arsenal is also a positive. And finally how the hell do we fit Rooney,RVP,Mata,Di Maria and Falcao into one line up.

Pissed about Danny leaving too.

Ogden forgetting how the loan system works.

we are not paying falcao salary to him as he is not a utd employee. We pay the wage direct to monaco, who still pay him tax free, so we only need to pay them the 200k p.w they pay him at the moment

Good post

I'll bet he's thinking: "Bloody hell Luis, all that money being spent? Wouldn't happen in my day. Absolutely ridiculous. Don't know what the world's coming to. All those bleedin' foreigners, what's the world coming to?"

For a player of his ability, £180k is low. Great deal for us. Arsenal pay our loan fee and we get Falcao instead of Welbeck. Woodward, you're a genius.

He's officially arrived at Carrington. Sky Sports just showed footage of his car arriving.

EDIT: As an aside, is anyone else getting miffed at the Sky Sports presenter pronouncing his name as 'Falco'?

It's a loan deal with an option to buy. Hardly a waste of money, specially if the RVP/knee surgery issue is true.

Finally got chance to comment on this after a busy day, but what a signing! He's an absolute beast that has tore apart some of the best teams in the world. We've done fecking good here.

Can't wait tos ee him. Where are the best highlight videos that have no doubt been posted today?

This worth a read guys (use google translate): http://www.calciomercato.it/news/29...i-falcao-quello-che--successo-ieri-notte.html

In brief:
1. Real had a deal drafted out for him but Man City rang up Mendes asking him to stall the deal after which Real backed out.
2. City thought they had it wrapped up, then Utd rang up Mendes asking him to stall the deal.
3. Now it gets interesting. City repeatedly call up Monaco to conclude the deal but met with more stalling and silence, asking City to wait a few hours.
4. City back out and now Falcao is only left with our offer, which he accepts.

City got Woodied

So can someone clear this up to me? Are we paying him £180k pw net?
We're paying Monaco his full wages, which is approx 180 net. It helps that he's still on Monaco's books as Monaco is a tax-free principality.

But wouldn't Falcao, as a UK resident working for a foreign company, have to pay income tax in the UK?

That summary warms my cockles! Woody for prime minister!

I never said it was a waste of money but £24M for a 1 season loan of a striker when we already have 2 great options for what think should be one spot is riduculous imo.

We would be better off splashing the cash in almost any other area of the pitch. It almost seems like we had the No.9 shirt vacant so just decided to buy someone to fill it.

By the way, how much is the option to buy?
