Radamel Falcao | Ducker: Medical passed!

All kinds of foreign press linking us strongy now. France to Spain to Colombia. Nothing in English press yet though. Hmm..

So without reading through the thread...how likely is this to happen?

Loan move not baffling in the slightest - if RvP has a long term injury, as has been rumoured.

On RvP - if he is seriously crocked, sadly, I'd say we've seen the best of him.
I think we've seen the best of him regardless.

City can't sign him without getting rid of Negredo, Real Madrid don't seem that keen, Arsenal probably won't sign him so if United want him, no reason why they wouldn't be able to. How practical it is is another thing altogether.

Rumors he needs a knee op for ligament damage that he postponed in order to play the WC under pressure, ironically, by LVG

That would be outrageous if true, which probably isn't. The reason he pushed for the 352 was to fit RVP, Rooney and Mata in the same starting line-up. If RVP really needs to go on the shelf then why bring in Falcao. LVG can revert back to the 433 with Rooney in the middle and Adnan and ADM on the wings. Mata-Herrera-Carrick (to be replaced by Strootman in January) seems like a pretty good midfield 3. If we have 60+ m still left in the bank we should just throw it at Pogba.

Rooney's cross-field passing is the best. After some of the shite from our midfield on Saturday, I can understand him being moved back. Trying to turn him into Scholes maybe?

What good is cross field passing when it's going to Young and Valencia though?

It's garbage made up by Falcao's people to hurry City into getting rid of Negredo and paying up for Falcao.

He'll be lining up with Aguero when we next face them.

Don't particularly want us to get him, but don't want City, or Arsenal either, just hope nothing happens on this one.

We're are actually favourites on skybet to land him, mad.

With RvP potentially crocked and ageing and Hernandez and Welbeck possibly leaving, this signing makes sense IMO

Not for the fee it doesn't.

It'd also mean we'd have three strikers over 28 years old on our books. We'd have to spend big again in a few years to replace two. Why not look for a young promising striker instead.

Or better keep Welbeck and buy players in other positions that we need.

What Ogden is muppeting as well??? I really really really think this could be the Herrera fiasco of this deadline day. I don't understand it. Wouldn't we be better served by giving more chances to Welbeck and Wilson instead of buying an expensive 28 year old on huge wages who isn't pacy(will clog up the front together with one or two of Mata, RVP, Rooney) and has just returned from a significant lay-off from a serious injury? Don't understand the logic behind it even if RVP is significantly injured. It is not like we are challenging on all fronts and we could have done with playing Welbeck or Wilson.

I don't think the fee will be that high if it does indeed happen, but to be honest I'm not too bothered either way

Agree. It's absolute rubbish. If he needed an op, why would they play him?

That's one way of looking it it.

Another way is that if RVP needs an op, that's the opportunity to move to LVG's preferred 433 formation without having to worry which one of Rooney or RVP to drop or play out of position

Blind Herrera
-----Mata-----
Di Maria Januzaj

Yes that's what I think too, much as no one wants Rvp, Rooney, or Mata injured it could almost be a blessing as it might force LvG's hand into change this god awful system he persisting with, the above team with Janujaz, and Di Maria swapped round is perfect.

Guardian saying it's between us and City, but City need to make about 25m before they can afford him. I'd be happy to take Negredo and Nastasic off their hands if that's the case and let them have Falcao

Muppet Muppet Muppet

If this goes through it means Ogden and co know nothing and are told lies with their constant bleating about no more transfers for united.

Sportsmail's Sami Mokbel reports that Arsenal are determined to beat Manchester City to Radamel Falcao as both clubs scramble for a striker:

'Arsenal are trying desperately to snatch Radamel Falcao from under the noses of Manchester City today.

'Sportsmail can reveal the Gunners first initiated first contact with the Colombian's advisors on Friday, informing them of their desire to take the striker on LOAN, not a permanent.

'There are fears at Arsenal that he has already agreed to go to City, but they will keep trying today.

'The numbers Arsenal have been quoted are an £8.5million loan fee and £10.4million in wages.'

Have we checked out his wife's Instagram account ? Surely that'll tell us the truth of it.

Dealio off, thank The Lord. His agent has just said that he will go to the club which has the most money AND PLAYS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

Yeah, just my opinion.

About that formation, personally I would rather we played a striker by trade in that position, that's not to say Rooney isn't a striker by trade, but he hasn't been played as an out and out striker on a consistent basis for a few years now. I would also prefer someone capable of scoring out of nothing with both feet from any position in the box. I don't want to sound like I'm putting Rooney down though, he is a top finisher and a great player and could do a job at the top, but I just feel Falcao would do a better job, and that Rooney would be better as a second-striker/in the hole. Again, though, my just my opinion and I'm not saying I'm right.

He was supposed to have the op in the Summer but Van Gaal persuaded him to delay it to play in the World Cup. Could be that it's now become vital it's done.

So Van Gaal the Dutch manager ended up screwing over Van Gaal the manager of Manchester United.

From the BBC's Deadline Day live feed

Football agent Rachel Anderson: "The club with the most money will sign Radamel Falcao, as long as they play Champions League football. We don't know where he will go, we just know he will"

So that rules us out. Good.

That is not his agent. Jorge Mendes will decide where he goes.

Wait what? Didn't realise RVP was crocked, is this confirmed? To be honest, I'd use his injury as more of a reason to play 1 up front. He's a fantastic striker though and I think he'd be able to form a good partnership with Rooney because of his style.
