Radamel Falcao | Ducker: Medical passed!

It's probably not happening, but I don't think that's his agent. It's just an agent.

From the BBC's Deadline Day live feed

Football agent Rachel Anderson: "The club with the most money will sign Radamel Falcao, as long as they play Champions League football. We don't know where he will go, we just know he will"

So that rules us out. Good.
Delighted with this. We absolutely do not need Falcao at all.

Dealio off, thank The Lord. His agent has just said that he will go to the club which has the most money AND PLAYS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE FOOTBALL.

If you're getting that from the BBC, that's not his agent.

I don't want City to get him either.

Let's buy him

We cannot sign players to keep City away from them, especially now when they're not our direct rivals anymore. By the time we compete with City in the league Falcao will probably be long gone/not that good anymore, he'll be 29 soon.

Going to Arsenal makes the most sense. I hope he doesn't though, but think that is where he will end up.

He'd be a great fit for Arsenal, but I can't see them paying the kind of wages he's on, on top of a huge fee.

That is, unless the RVP stories are true.

Even if we had no van Persie I'd still rather not bring Falcao. Not the sort of striker we should have, besides we'd have Rooney as our lone striker in 433 with Welbeck as a back up/competition. Good enough.

To all the people who just quoted me, I already corrected myself in a second post on the previous page which says it's an agents view, not his agents view!

This won't happen. either they've made it up so city can get moving with getting rid of Negredo ... or we're just making bids for Falcao so city cant have them.

Welbeck's not in LVG's plans. He's not a natural finisher. What would be the point of saying that then keeping him on?

It worked out well with RVP.

Today isn't a day for logic. It's deadline day. I hope we buy all the strikers. All of them.

I find it absolutely baffling then. I thought he could turn him into our Muller.

It worked well with van Persie in the short term, in the long term it has further unbalanced the squad. Bringing another forward who HAS to play into equation will basically kill any possibility of our side having any fluidity. You cannot have more than one static striker with little pace in the team.

I think Welbeck's problem may be his versatility. He's not a specialist in any position - a sort of "Jack of all trades, but master of none."

He's better in attack than Hernandez now and offers more on the wing than Valencia. Moreover we'll probably loan him out to a team in direct competition for top 4 with us. As I've said, I'll never understand it.

Who can say they understand Van Gaal??!!

This is clearly a case of his agent stirring up interest to get him a move. If we were going to splash 55m on a player you would think it would be on a midfielder/defender.

He's in his late 20's it would be a poor investment, our attack seriously lacks pace which is something Falcao does not have. No thanks.

Really don't think we will let him move, his versatility is exactly what we need. I just hope he improves his decision making in the final third.

Arsenal won't get a better opportunity to land a big striker again. This could make their season. Hope City/Real get him.

Arsenal are in direct competition with us for top 4 so obviously I'd rather see Real or City get him. Real won't though if they get Hernandez, City are a possibility and the most likely destination IMO. Pellegrini likes playing with two strikers and they appear to be offloading Negredo.

Dzeko and Falcao would be the least balanced pair ever if Aguero got injured. They'd probably use Jovetic with Falcao/Dzeko though in that scenario.

Makes no sense to me.

He's quality, but I see two main factors to be against it: age & position.

If we gonna pay that kind of money for a striker, I'd expect someone young, who can take over and provide goods for years to come - people call it "thinking about future".
Rooney's 28, Robin's 31 - if we gonna bring another 28yr old striker, in 3-4 years time we'll need to replace all striking department - that's some serious spending.
Even if rumours about van Persie's operation are true - keep Hernandez, simple as that. Why would we waste 50m?

Only weeks ago LVG was talking about unbalanced squad, so I don't see happening.

If we gonna spend big tonight, let it be a centre back or midfielder, we have other priorities.

Would be a great loan option if the RVP rumours are true. Sets him up for a move to Real Madrid next season (which he seemingly wants) while we have world class cover while RVP is injured.

I don't think even he could get onto Valencia's or Young's crosses though.

Seems an odd one to me. LvG is already complaining about having too many forwards, so why would he waste time and cash on another who offers no more than what we already have? Seems like another case of us just being linked with anyone thought to be available.

Would it be a good deal in hypothetical terms for us to get Falcao (assuming we can't get any more midfielders) as that will mean denying both Arsenal and City.
I just don't get idea of this deal unless RVP is infact going to be sidelined due to a surgery. All a bit surreal.

People who make up transfer stories should be shot if they are wrong. I would volunteer to do it.

Not that im getting sucked into this but if city and arse want to loan and we are happy to buy, with the state of affairs monaco are in surely its more likely we'll be getting him?

Id rather spend that money on hummels/vidal. Even if rvp is crocked its a good excuse for 433 with rooney up top.

Today is going to be mad. Dont get sucked into it people, he'll end up at city

When I heard this rumour last night I thought it was agent talk to entice City, but everyone has the rumour now. IF we sign Falcao it screams Ed Woodward. Van Gaal has been moaning about the imbalances in our squad from day one. Its a big jump from saying 'I like Vidal' after Sunderland away to spending a shed load on Falcao. Should this move materialise it will be a club buy not a Van Gaal buy.

You seriously think Woodward would just go out and buy a player irrespective of whether Van Gaal wanted him or not? Seriously??
