I think we have to take into account that we are missing both our starting CBs and Martinez is a big miss when it comes to our build up from the back.I disagree, a football team that struggle to score goals and defensively suspect can’t be considered as playing well.
Villa were crap today and they forced a good save from De Gea at 0-0 and a goal line clearance. We were deserved winners in the end but in my book we haven’t had a good collective team performance since the Forest game.
Also, the sheer volume of games we have played is insane. When we played Brighton in the semi final of the FA Cup, it was their 37th match of the season while it was something like 56th for us. That's basically half a season of extra football for the players with a world cup in between where most of our players were involved. That is absolutely going to make a difference to any team's performance barring City who have a group of 20-22 top players in their squad.
