Race for top 4 | Finito.

Woah, Brighton leave Mitoma, MacAllister and Caceido on the bench, Ferguson injured, and they're still 4-0 up on Wolves!

Wolves must be playing in their flip-flops today!

7 points and a match extra to play and you guys are really scared top 4 is not in the bag and that Liverpool could challenge that?

I'll admit I'm naturally pessimistic, I think I use it as some form of a coping mechanism if things go tits up. If United were in the form of earlier on in the season, with a full strength squad and hitting our peak, I'd be pretty chilled about the run in.

However, both our first choice CBs are injured, we don't have a centre forward who can hit a barn door, Casemiro's form has fallen off a cliff, and the team look short on form and energy.

So no, until it's actually done, unfortunately I won't be as sanguine about the run in as some on here!

Wolves are absolutely hapless.

Makes me believe we'll batter them at home.
You saw Brighton playing against them. When United do, after playing the most number of matches, injuries and off form players all over the pitch, a 1-0 against wolves is the best we can hope for.

Wolves have been a difficult team of us to score a lot of goals against.

Liverpool have the next 3 at home, and look like they'll probably finish strongly.
We need to win 4 games, then it's out of their hands, end of story.

Out of interesting who do you see them slipping up against?
Any teams they would face bar Southampton. It's not Liverpool has flawless record against these team in recent time. Liverpool lost last two visit to Leicester. Spurs drew them last season at Anfield that ruining their perfect run in and cost them the title. Spurs had some fight in them seeing them just coming back in second half against us. Liverpool hasn't won against Fulham in their last 3 meetings. As it stands Liverpool record in modern PL against Brentford is at a stalemate. Aston Villa has something to fight for. Gerrard was no longer here to bend over and give them 3 points.

I am a little concerned that Brighton seem to have gotten some sneaky squad depth. They looked fantastic today with 3 of their 4 best players in the bench.

It is sad that we have spent the money that we have, and don’t have quality to come in for our key players. We have run out of steam, while other teams around us seem to be enjoying some flexibility (Brighton today, Isak/Wilson, Diaz/Darwin/Jota/Firmino/Gakpo at Pool.

It really is scandalous where they money has gone at United. How we don’t even have one capable center forward is embarrassing and could cost us dearly if we trip up against Villa/Brighton.

I just hope we put aside those weak performances for good. Liverpool are trying to sneak in while we have the likes of Brighton and Villa looking like they have an outside chance. Newcastle is not stopping any time soon so we have to be up for it.

That’s top 4 done pretty much. We are playing like shit but we are not shit enough to lose thrice and draw once in our last 6 for any below us to catch up.

Nine points to go. Even a couple of draws next week wouldn't be a disaster while winning just one of them would be another massive step.

Maybe it was because my stream was horrible but I don't think we played like shit today. It's a team that has played most games this season and today hosted Villa who haven't lost in 10 consecutive games. At this point in season, it's not a bad performance and a big win.

Anyways, big 3 points for us today. Our next 2 games our probably 2 toughest left, at Brighton and West Ham.

Fully expect Liverpool to beat Spurs comfortably later as they usually do. Though maybe Tottenham could follow use comeback vs us 3 days ago with a good performance today.

Newcastle finishing in top 4 seems almost completed. They're in good form so home game vs Arsenal could be a win as well if Arsenal keep their current form.

A win at Spurs would have left me confident. Tonight's result leaves it wide open. In fact I would not be surprised if we finish 5th or lower now.

Our two games in hand are against Villa and Brighton. It would not be a huge shock for us to take no more than two points from those matches.

The gap between us and the chasing pack is going to vanish pretty damn quickly.

You’d expect that the Wolves and Fulham home games should be gimmes so we’d just need one win from the other four. Top four is done and dusted ladies and gents

Not taking our chances and drop off routinely in the 2nd half (but fortunately didn’t completely collapsed like against Pool or Spurs), and that’s at home. Defensive injuries of course a big part of it, but the mental fragility that persists over the last few years is still there. On another day Lindelof wasn’t fast enough to clear that ball off the line and this thread would have very different vibes.

Three wins away assuming no one else drops a point. I think it'll take a complete collapse for us to feck this up.

Yeah, maybe I was too negative. However, Villa's form going into today's game gave us little cause for optimism. I am delighted we won and it leaves us not needing too many more wins from here.

Agree. Get the next two potentially tricky away games out of the way and things start to look a lot better with three of our last four games at home.

We ran out comfortable winners today and Villa hardly created any chances.

Lots of the pessimism here is pretty unwarranted.

No?!?!

To be fair at least you admitted it. There's tons on here just as negative as you were that never accept it.

It's finished. Feck Liverpool and that guy in glasses from Redmen TV whoever his name is.

It's going to be a hammering. As close to a foregone conclusion as it gets in this league. It's not in this current Spurs side to squeeze much effort out of themselves twice in three days.

You would think but the scousers have inexpicably dropped points when you wouldn't expect them to. We shall see

Yeah to be fair at least you did admit it. But it can be frustrating to read irrational negativity!
