Race for top 4 | Finito.

I'm sure if Liverpool beat Spurs we'll get the usual panic and predictions of doom and gloom in here at only being 7 points ahead with a game in hand and only 5 games left to play.

But at least for now we can just enjoy the win.

It is not done. We need 3 more wins to get it done. At this part of the season every game is a battle
 
Crucial win but it's not done yet as i still expect us to need 3 wins from the last 4 which is no given playing like today.

I disagree, a football team that struggle to score goals and defensively suspect can’t be considered as playing well.

Villa were crap today and they forced a good save from De Gea at 0-0 and a goal line clearance. We were deserved winners in the end but in my book we haven’t had a good collective team performance since the Forest game.

Bournemouth is safe with their win today, between them, Chelsea, Wolves and Fulham, all pretty much with nothing to play for and 3 of them at home, we’ll get those 3 wins.

And it’s only assuming Liverpool/Brighton win all their remaining games anyway. Imo 70 pts is enough for top 4 this season.
 
The reason why us and other teams are fighting for top 4 is because of inconsistency, failure to take chances, sudden drop in mentality etc - so expect the unexpected we may get points on the so called tough fixtures (Villa, Brighton, Spurs) and actually drop some clangers to others. Ditto for other competitors (apart from Newcastle who look like a level above atm). Enjoy the ride.
 
United on the right track. I had chalked off the Villa game and the Brighton game as losses. Extremely happy that we won. Hope Liverpool lose which is extremely unlikely. Would be great for them to be kicked out of Europa positions and get into the conference league.

They win today and they will be in 5th.

City are playing well, Newcastle are playing well, Brighton are playing well, we are definitely not playing well. Our MotM contenders this match is a DM and a CB, in a tight 1-0 win at home. I dearly hope that’s not going to be the norm going forward.

We played well. Nothing to do with standards. The only thing you can accuse us of is not scoring more goals. 1-0 does not reflect our dominance today.

Where are now people who laughed to us who were saying weeks ago that Liverpool have a shot for top 4.
 
Liverpool finishing this season in the same way as they did in 2021/22 season when they were 6th at the start of it and finished in 3rd. High possibility they'll finish on 71 points and it's up to Man United and Newcastle to get at least 72 points. That's nine points Man United will need in the remaining 6 games.
