Race for top 4 | Finito.

“Spurs were shit but Kane got a winner” could surely describe every single Spurs win this season

Two bad results for us but that has ended any tiny chance Liverpool had of making top 4.

Spurs have to go to Newcastle in two weeks. A game which no matter what the result will benefit us.

Draw would have been ideal in the Spurs game but if either had to win I would have preferred them. You just know they'll drop points at some stage and it could happen in any game. Brighton are a better side, it's good to have them still a little further behind.

Bet they’ll beat us at home though. Just the kind of game we lose.
Do we have a bad record their of late? Doesn't feel like it. We could lose it though, our record away against half decent teams it not good. Then again we struggle more against the high tempo teams whereas with Spurs it feels like we usually have counter attacking players who hurt them as they like playing that way too. Rashford out may alter the contest though

 I just can’t be arsed with a top 4 race. The other two dropping points would have been brilliant for us. Now it’s very likely we’re 5th going into our next league game!

With two games in hand though!

Next game is against a team sinking down the table and in the relegation zone. I get being sick of the top 4 race but really we're in a very good position. Our main rivals are Spurs who are absolutely fecking awful and with an ingrained habit for bottling it.

Unbeaten at Spurs new stadium by the way, 2 wins and a draw.

Guarantee they sack their manager and they’re one of those teams who seem to think they have a rivalry with us.

I can see you're one of those glass half empty fans so there's little chance of me trying to cheer you up. We'll drop points of course at some point but absolutely so will Spurs.

Five of United's remaining 9 league games are away. Brighton,Spurs two of the most difficult ones. Hopefully the home form keeps good and Rashford injury not as bad as feared.

Everyone saying how they're annoyed because Tottenham won. Well I'm happy as Brighton are the better team & if they had won their game in hand would have been in a better position than Tottenham to challenge us!

This is as good as done. I reckon 71 points will be enough, so we basically need to beat Forest and Bournemouth away and win 3/5 against Villa, Fulham, Wolves, Chelsea, and West Ham (away). With Casemiro, Eriksen and Martial back, we won’t feck this up now. The six points this week have been huge.

Relax. You will easily make it. Spurs are god awful and the others are just too far behind.

We keep doing our job and we will be fine. The panic and worry over this right now doesn’t seem justified.

It isn't. A draw would have been ideal today, but I'd rather Spurs had won if anyone. It looks like 2 from 3 now, and Spurs have a run of Newc (a), United (h) & Liverpool (a) this month, plus let's be honest they can lose any game.

I don't think we need to be concerned

We did our job today, it’s unfortunate that the Newcastle and Spurs results didn’t go our way either.

I’m sure that Spurs will drop points between now and end of season, probably quite a few. Not sure about Newcastle, I can see them brushing aside all that stands in front of them from now on, they’ve got a lot of momentum and belief right now. So I’m not sure whether we can get third, we’ve played considerably more games than them so it’s understandable.

Not fussed about the cups, play every league game like it’s a cup final. If we can keep our nerve and keep playing the way we did today albeit be a bit more clinical, then we should see the season out even though there is tough games against Spurs, Brighton, Fulham and Villa to come.

I hope Forest don't sack their manager because we've bossed them every time we've played them this season. I'm confident of three away points next week and I think Newcastle and Spurs play each other this month too.

Im not sure newcastle will brush aside everyone. Despite the indifferent form of the teams they have to play, they still have to play Liverpool, Chelsea, spurs and Brighton. All of them are tough on their day.

I didn’t realise they still had all those to play. Bit premature then, but I think they will beat 2 or 3 of those.

if Newcastle beats Spurs, and we also win vs Spurs and Forest, by end of April top 4 would be over.

They are very strong at home in fairness, 11 wins from just 15 can't be easily dismissed.

I do think Spurs will lose pretty much all their away games in run in though. Think Newcastle will turn them over pretty comfortably, they never do much at Anfield even when they've had excellent teams, we won comfortably away to them on NYD and Leeds away on final day will be tricky if they need something to stay up.

Can't see the top 4 changing now with these away wins Newcastle have got.

spurs away on paper is difficult....but you know they'll sit in so if we are patient and keep the ball then we can dictate how the match plays out

As much as I hate NC, best outcome for us to be guaranteed top 4 is for NC to win vs Spurs. We are 3 points ahead of spurs with one game in hand and with them losing will create a decent gap between top 4 and 5th…. I don’t see any other team finishing in top 4 except them..Brighton have very tough fixtures coming up…. It’s 2 of us, spurs and NC who will make top 4. No one else

Newcastle have 9 to play but 5 at home 4 away can see them wining 5 Draw 3 lose 1 so They finish on 74 points,

Man Utd just depends, at our best we could win 7 from 9 but realistically Villa, Spurs, Chelsea Brighton, Fulham all tough games and don’t think that Bouremouth, Forrest, Wolves and West Ham are easy games when they are fighting to stay up, however with squad back to relative full strength I think we will win 6 draw 1 lose 2 (Brighton and one of the relegation sides or spurs ) so 19 points and finish on 75
Spurs are realistically the only team now to catch both team and I can see them getting 16 points max from last 8 games so 69 points and it really wouldn’t surprise me if Brighton or Villa ended up 5th instead!

My thoughts are similar from an NUFC perspective. In consecutive weeks we can hopefully both do each other a favour and leave spurs in the dust.

Not really sure why there's so much focus on finishing above each other, the priority is shaking off the chasing pack.

At this point if Newcastle can beat Spurs I think that'll be 3rd place wrapped up for them. And by extension 4th wrapped up for us. Assuming that Rashford isn't out for more than a few matches and hoping beyond hope that Martial can stay fit from here on out.

Not looking great for us now with Rashford out. Thank god we have the EL as a back-up.

Was hoping for a draw between Spurs and Brighton, but I think Spurs winning is a better result for us than had Brighton won it. Brighton looked a better team than Spurs but were rode raw by Stuart Atwell all game!

Newcastle and Spurs only have the PL games to play. They have advantage over us. They can play every games like final going all out.

For us, we are still in Europa League and FA Cup. Rashford injury is also a big concern.

But I think we have the squad to finish Top 4 and hopefully add another cup win.

Anyone still worried about Liverpool making top 4 really should stop worrying now.

12 points off the top 4 with only 9 games to go, their away form is diabolical so they couldn't afford to be dropping any points at home like they have today. They're done.

Think it's mainly a race between Newcastle, United, Spurs and Brighton atm. Rashford being injured and playing another 2 comps is what worries me.
