Quaresma leaving Porto

Quaresma: It's Time To Go

FC Porto star Ricardo Quaresma has increased speculation over his future by saying that he wants to leave the Dragons...

"I have never hidden that I would like to play for a foreign club again," Quaresma said after the game. "It is time to leave, I have publicly expressed that wish many times. Let's see what happens."

"For now, I am going to focus on Euro for us to make a good campaign."

Why do all portuguese players say the same things? maybe we've misjudged ronaldo. Maybe all this "2 or 3 days" malarky is not him, but all portugeezers

He would've learned the positioning and it wouldn't be a huge priority if he had a defensive midfielder behind him considering he'd be the creative one in there.

Attacking midfielders who can dribble are often turned into wingers; read: Messi, Ronaldinho, Cole etc.

Yeah well if that theory applies then I hope Anderson doesn't.

He started off as a winger at Gremio, was then converted to an attacking midfielder at Porto and is now an all round central midfielder. Shows he is very adaptable.

Apparently his preferred position is LB, so he can play just about anywhere it seems

Exactly, although I think that was more due to him being lost in translation a bit, because he said something along the lines of "Roberto Carlos is my idol and I try to play just like him" whereas this was interpreted as he like playing left back.

Not until they have a manager.

I hope the dippers don't get him, exactly what they need.

Why the feck would he want to go to that shower of shit? I'm sure he'll go to a big club that wins things.

As Brwned said..lost in translation.

Anderson prefers the #10 position, that's his favourite position and the position he has grew up playing..to quote him..

'I had more freedom and played as a No.10 against Liverpool, I feel very at ease playing this way'

I`ve never really seen the big deal about Quaresma. Lacks maybe a bit of pace to be top, top level.

Probably more naturaly gifted than Ronnie but has a major problem with consistency.

:smirk:Come on. People seem to forget that Ronnie didn't just all of a sudden become good these past two years, he won player of the season for us in his first season.

If the unthinkable did happen and we parted company with Ronnie i would be happy with Quaresma coming in as long as his head was right.Personaly i can see no player in the world who is closer to Ronnie than Quaresma.I am not saying he is as good but if he can get the consistency right i don't think there is much between them.In fact as they were growing up in Potugal Quaresma was seen as the better prospect and his progress seems to have stuttered after he joined Barca. He has played brilliantly at times for Porto but is now obviously ready to try a major european club again.

Lionel Messi. Quaresma has ability and if he became more consistent he would be a lot better, but I wouldn't even put him in the top 5 wingers in the world. He plays in a fairly weak league and excels, but when he is faced with even half decent opposition and is tightly marked he becomes invisible.

we already have two ronaldos. What about nani? :)

I'd rather zarate, for me he would make a major impact at any of the top 4 clubs.

But quaresma, his attitude is questionable but maybe he's grown up after his barca experience.

He's not really what we need, plus he would be fairly expensive, likely to cost more than Huntelaar and even though I dislike his playing style there is no denying he is better.

Inter bound, according to my sources

Seems likely with Mourinho there, he always quite liked him.

I must be going feckin mental as i swear i read this post of yours yesterday :wenger::wenger::wenger:

We could easily accommodate him in our team along with Nani and Ronaldo....

Play three wingers - two running down the bylines and one running down the goal line

Both Quaresma and Robben were more talented than Ronaldo. Quaresma went to farca, Robben to Chelsea and Ronnie to Fergie. SAF's the best at getting the best out of youngsters:D

Towards the end of the season Robben has been eletric for Real and as much as he is a wee toad he is a cracking player when in form and was Chelseas best player when he was fit.

Quaresma is massively tallented and has been too good for the portuguese league for a while. He will most likely end up atInter though, it'll be interesting to see how he does at the Euros along with the likes of Ronaldo and Simao.

He's left his future on hold until after the Euros. How on earth can the dippers be close? Would be a reasonable replacement if Ronaldo jumps ship.

Lazy prick, wouldn't want him anywhere near our club

They were not more talented. They were just better at the time which was no surprise given they were older.

Robben made the wrong decision by going to Chelsea, Quaresma chose a pussy league. Its as simple.

Robben was definitely more talented. You're right about quaresma.

Great player imo, I thought about him today when I was thinking about a replacement if Ron was off to madrid.

i just heard on the radio that his representatives have flown in from Porto this morning.

Inter On Verge Of Signing Quaresma

Inter Milan are on the verge of signing Porto winger Ricardo Quaresma for €31m, according to Portuguese newspaper A Bola.

The Nerazzurri have yet to make a big-name signing this summer, however A Bola says that they are just days, if not hours, away from completing the capture of Quaresma.

The Italian champions have been heavily associated with a move for the 24-year-old, and despite late interest from Juventus, they are on the brink of announcing a €31m deal.

Inter have been looking for some more technically gifted players in the final third of the field, as new coach Jose Mourinho aims to win the club their first Champions League since 1965.

Quaresma began his career at Sporting Lisbon before enduring a miserable season at Barcelona in 2003/04.

He then moved to Porto where his career really took off again. He has won 23 caps for the Portugal national team, scoring three goals, although he was somewhat disappointing during Euro 2008.
