QPR v Manchester United (Friendly) Saturday 24th July 2021 @ 3pm BST | 4-2 loss

He should push for a start at times. I would love to see him and Bruno working in attacking midfield. Pep would make it work. Ole maybe not be good enough to tactically get an attacking team to defend well enough.

Yeah, I think he'd settle for a place in the squad. Any starts he gets would be a bonus for him.

I’d have thought he’d be one of the ones running onto those balls rather than playing them. Not underplaying his passing ability, mind.

He is an assist machine. He will make a lot of those simple passes to Cavani and Greenwood. Like this one by Cavani to Bruno vs Leicester.

QPR are playing a strong team against mostly our kids.

Their league starts in 2 weeks, sot hey are also farther through preseason that we are.

I think this is a really good test for the youngsters, a proper team to play against, which derby were not.

Couldn’t agree more with this

Well said

Well minor some decent touches from Mason and Jesse that was pretty bad.

Please tell me you aren't serious. We have one guaranteed starter on the pitch. Wise up

It's also a really good Championship-side. Yes we have been poor - but I can't think of many Championship-sides playing better than this.

It's only Mengi, Pellestri, Greenwood and possibly Williams that are considered kids though.

I think the point is that we're playing lads that we either want to sell or loaned out.

Perreira really struggling, unfortunately. Oddly, so is Matic, though he's maybe keeping his energy for his one decent showing next season.

Mengi's struggled a bit too, but is pretty young and Austin is a proven striker.

Great preseason match though, QPR been excellent.

Indeed. Lingard is a young talented kid with bright future.

Let's see Hannibal on for Perreira.

AWB is clearly out there with a “Do not get injured” attitude - don’t think he’s sprinted once let alone put a challenge in

Yeah noticed that too, he's taking it easy

Pretty poor first half. The defending for QPR's goal was abysmal. Every senior player has been substandard.

I know it's all about minutes in the legs at the moment, our first team is mostly absent too. But there's nobody out there who either a) looks like they might breakthrough this year or b) is increasing their transfer value.

My concern is more that we are 3 weeks from the season starting and, just like last season, only two or three likely starters are involved.

We cannot afford another shit start to the season with players nowhere near sharp until game week 6

A lot of teams in the same boat though because of Euros.

Football is so much better with a crowd. Feels more competitive than the proper matches last season. Been a tough first half against a good looking QPR side, hopefully when we change it up with subs we can get more in the match.

feck me. Even against this lot Matic looks piss poor. 2nd tier players and he still doesn't have the confidence to pick the ball up in tight areas. Time and time again he plays and we struggle to play out from the back. It's painful.

Greenwood looking lively when he gets the ball, which is rare. Time Mejbri to get an extended run out.

But not any of the ones we face in the first 6 matches. Similar to last season. We'll be facing sides likely 2-3 weeks ahead of us in terms of having had most of their first team available since July 1st

Perriera and Williams are so bad at passing it’s unreal. So painful to watch.

This is why I urged people to not judge Amad by his relatively few minutes last season; because when he did play, he was playing in front of Williams (and sometimes Pereira) on the right, and usually in a considerably weakened team.

Williams always had a limited ceiling. You could tell 2-3 years ago just by looking at him. We do no favours by sentimentally holding onto youth players who simply don't have the technical fundamentals to make it.
