PSG vs Man Utd | Build-up Thread | Return leg Wednesday 06.03

Thigh injury is all that's been said

Didn't he get a similar injury at the World cup. People thought he'd be fit for the France game but he didn't make it and there were I think six days between the games.

I would say for this PSG have enough to get through without Neymar but also Cavani out would be massive blow. Can then focus all efforts on stopping Mbappe. Di Maria is the sort imo who will hide away if he gets some boos and a few bad tackles at start of the game.

Tie has certainly massively levelled up since the draw in December. I'd still give the edge to PSG but very interesting to how Man. United approach the first leg. I feel a cautious approach would be an error. PSG have enough about them to score an away goal so think Man. United's best bet is just going for it and trying to get a 3-1 or something to take to Paris.

I would say play like Liverpool did at start of the season v PSG but then the PSG midfield was very weak that night and they still got it to 2-2 with five minutes left.

Not 100% impossible that the team against MUFC might be something like that :wenger::drool:

CHOUPO-MOTING*---mbappé
NKUNKU----Marquinhos---- Dani Alves ---DIABY
Kurzawa-----Kimpembe---Lassana Diarra----Kehrer
Areola

Dani Alves as a central midfielder, has that really been happening this season?! Is he box-to-box, defensive (although I'm guessing Marquinhos does that although of course he's a CB....) creative or what? Fair enough you can get away with it in majority of french league games but knock out away team at OT....

I just can't understand why they loaned Lo Celso out. Tuchel messed up there.

Going to suck if Mpabbe comes in and scores a hat trick ala Ronaldo.

But if that's the case, I have faith in this team to score more goals.

Ya you just don’t know what Di Maria is going to show up hopefully it’s the one that played for us.
I think we’ve to go for it as well, chances are they’ll have a fully fit team for the 2nd leg so it’s important we score and hopefully not conceding which I think is going to be difficult.

To me, we should be winning this.

They're a much worse team without Neymar. He's their key player.

Can't wait to see how we do.

Why on earth is a PSG supported signed up here? I really don't get it, same goes for Liverpool, Arsenal etc.
Well someone needs to be objective and not get hysterical everytime united concedes a goal. The oppo fans here seem to give United more respect than some of our own

It will be a real test of our character, but I really feel like like it’s winnable for us. Our confidence is sky high and our form is excellent.

I’m waiting on a big game from rashford, Pogba, herrera and victor.

Funny no-one is talking about perhaps our most important player - De Gea. Most of us seem in agreement that there will be a lot of chances created for both sides so it might come down to which keeper can save their team.

I still make PSG favourites over two legs because they have had more time to gel as a team under their manager and we have shown fatigue towards the end of our tough games. If it was a one-off game at Old Trafford I would go for a United win.

PSG coach Thomas Tuchel on Edinson Cavani just now: "There is no good news this morning. He has undergone exams & there will be more tests here at the training centre. My feeling is that it will be very difficult for him to feature in Manchester."

Mind games. He'll probably play I reckon

I just can't understand why they loaned Lo Celso out. Tuchel messed up there.

I agree about Lo Celso. Tuchel thought Rabiot would renew his contract and that last summer the club would buy a defensive midfielder. At the end, Rabiot disappeared and a new central midfielder Paredes has just arrived this winter.

I can't say it was a success given his age (35 years): he just played 2-3 times in this role against weak French teams. A box-to-box role requires a high level of stamina so let's say 'central midfielder'

If he plays against United, he would be deployed as right-midfielder IMO

Mind games. He'll probably play I reckon

Frankly, I would have loved mind games but imagine a striker scoring a penalty and just after that send the message 'I can't wait 5 minutes until the half-time and need to be subbed now'.

Rather not go in as favourites, and I still don't think we should be. All the pressure is on PSG, they're the ones talked up to win it every year, they went into the season being expected to come very close to winning it.

We're just a bunch of happy go lucky lads hoping for the best!

Just found out the Chelsea game is on Monday. What the fudge is wrong with them? First a Friday, now this.

Ole pulling a Zidane down there when it comes to injuries to the opposition I see. Are we going to win the CL ?

They seem to think they'll go 3-4-3 against us.

You went from a team worse than United '14 to a team better than United '08 in a few months.

If you beat us I want you to get to CL & FA cup final, lose them both & miss out on Top 4, tasty haha.

I prefer to see us beat you by 10 goals aggregate though, can’t wait for the game.

Because sometimes you don't want to talk football in an echo chamber. It's really not that complex. For some, it's good to learn from different fans and you can see how your views line up with others and debate things openly. Redcafe is one of, if not the best football forums for this as we tend not to be dick heads to other fans from other teams. It makes for good discussion. Also the general forum is truly fantastic .

Tasty much about us eh ? Don't see a reason for that. :D

Why would this be a problem haha ? it's good for us, a few additional resting days and chelsea plays the thursday before us i think.

Apparently he's having a disappointing season though?
If we could pick two players to miss our tie it would have been Neymar and Cavani

Nah he's having his best season so far. He's going to smash his personal best goal scoring record (already on 22 goals) and has so far scored 18 in 17 games in Ligue 1.

Wow! Big chance this. Will it change our plans, like maybe Bailly instead of Jones now to counter mbappes speed?

How good is PSG's defense? A lot is made of their attack but I'm not sure how good their fullbacks are? Particularly whoever is at RB will need to put up with Martial. Lingard's movement should cause massive issues for them too. Really looking forward to this, we'll need to rack up the advantage best we can in the opening tie.

I think its more his general play, in particularly in the Cl.
I take French scoring records with a grain of salt to be honest.

Their defence is better than ours and is led by the best defender of this generation. We have to dominate the midfield. Pogba has to turn up.

I feel like Cavani is a much bigger loss than Neymar for them. Now what? They have no proper CF. Our defenders are rather quick and hard to beat on 1v1. It's the lobbed through balls and crosses that have been our nemesis since Ole took over.

PSG are dumb, already having lost Neymar, they should have protected their players by giving a chance to their good youngsters
You can't keep all your players away from the pitch, they still need to play to keep match fitness. The key players who started yesterday didn't the previous match.

There was already many starters on the bench and Diaby, Nkunku, Nsoki featuring + Dagba subbed on.
