PSG vs Man Utd | Build-up Thread | Return leg Wednesday 06.03

he saw Martials performance yesterday and was like "nah I'm sitting this out" .

I don’t like all these injuries and excuses. Hopefully, this won’t result in complacency. We need a huge result. Going to Paris in the 2nd leg is always a disadvantage.

Feel like Cavani will pull through... doesn't PSG's statement actually say they'll see in the coming days to determine if he's out for longer? Kind of non-committal. Anyway, is going to be a tough game anyway. Mbappe was always the one who worried me the most (though Neymar is obviously a huge loss for them). Meunier being out I don't think makes much of a difference. Cavani and Neymar does, but they still have a likely front 3 of Di Maria, Mbappe and Draxler. Not exactly a weak attack... We need to be at our best and everyone to be fully up for it and hopefully we get a good result. Going to be nervy as feck.

The injuries seem to be mounting for them. Definitely hands us an opportunity that we need to take.

At this rate they won't even have a full squad available for the match.

It's going to be so much worse if we still lose to them though

i would not be surprised if we beat them 4-0 and again i will not be surprised if we loose 4-0.

I still remember 2009 against Barcelona. Barcelona had freaking Sylvinho and bloody Yaya Toure in their back four and we still didn't manage a single goal despite having prime Rooney and Ronaldo in our XI and Tevez and Berbatov bench warming. So I'm not gonna expect too much just 'cus they seem a bit weakend.

I'm parisian and honestly I think we are cursed, Thomas Meunier, Cavani injuried by a penalty(weird), Neymar and maybe Verrati are out. Neymar was also injuried last season in champions league.

Manchester United is favourite, we lack strikers but there is Di maria and Draxler to replace. We have already beaten barca 4-0 without Neymar. Our quality remaining is our defense. I hope at least a draw. The last match against bordeaux wasn't very serious because we wanted avoiding injuries. This will be a good match between two great teams !

First ever champions league game for me! Absolutely buzzing, bet the atmosphere is going to be off the charts.

Well, now United is officially and undeniably favorites and there are no excuses for them to not win this game. Everything is set up for them to win, two of the best three offensive players are injured, Veratti is barely off the injury list, Paredes just came in, it's a complete disaster for PSG once again before the game even started.

I'm also starting to believe they are truly cursed in the CL because of their obsession with winning it; that being said, United are one Pogba injury away from putting the odds back to 50/50.

Ya I’d prefer to be told the 3 are missing an hour before the game , let’s hope we don’t get complacent.

Welcome! Neymar played this game...with Barcelona :wenger:

If we beat an injury ravaged PSG, the narrative that Ole is still yet to be tested and is fluking his way through the job will rage on.

I hope all their injured players go see Pep's X-Men doctors and make miraculous recoveries, and then we twat them anyway.

People may be getting ahead of themselves. Mbappé, di Maria with a point to prove and Draxler is still a formidable forward line. We have been breached at OT by the mighty Huddersfield and Burnley in the last few fixtures.

Indeed

It's actually a shame their injuries because watching their abysmal performance at Anfield it would have made the achievement of knocking them out even sweeter if they were fully fit, we're now in a no win situation - if we win it'll be because of their injuries, if we loose we're there for the mocking

Great! Hopefully, I will be given a ticket this week.

You will be there with Ms.? In which district?

Yes, I couldn’t go to Paris and not have her come with! We are staying at the George V close to the élysées.

Hardly a no win situation when we find ourselves in the last 8 of the champions league.

Who will win the CL? I was thinking Juventus but looking at their midfield it doesn't seem likely.

My pick has been Barca all season but that's been based on their UCL games, haven't seen any of them in La Liga this season

I didn't think narrative was still going? I don't think many people are going along with that idea anymore, and I doubt the majority would be saying that if we beat PSG on tuesday.

La classe! I lived there for 18 months in a "chambre de bonne" when I was a student. Good memories.

I don't think fluke is the right word, but he has been very fortunate and this situation with PSG is a continuation of that. However, even if PSG won't be the test it could have been without all those injuries, he will definitely be tested soon as the fixtures get much tougher. It's undeniable he has been very fortunate thus far, but that's an important aspect for any good managers, so it's not to take anything away from everything else he has done.

It’s a really nice area, I stayed in the same hotel for the year 2000 so wanted to go back. We are having a very small wedding so we wanted to do things this year individually and together, so Paris for a united game was top of the list as soon as the draw was made!

I thought so too, but the way Barca fans go about their team on here (along with watching a couple of games where they were pretty bad in the league) made me doubt. It probably should be 1. Barca, 2. City, 3. (Fully fit) PSG.

Congrats!

Their defence is better than ours and is led by the best defender of this generation. We have to dominate the midfield. Pogba has to turn up.
It's not better than ours. Not anymore. They are struggling. Silva is past it at the highest level and you'll see it against Rashford and Martial.

Any chance our lot will out sing a few thousand french? Sick of hearing only the opposition support on European nights at Old Trafford. You would think we were the away side with all the booing and whistling..
