Protests following the killing of George Floyd

Specifically killed someone who tried to brain him with a skateboard. It's not a controversial statement, the second and third shootings look like self defence. Islamic terror attacks dont happen in the middle of protests and riots, and dont end with the guy running away to hide behind a line of police cars, bizarre comparison.

End of the day, this is what violent protests, looting and arson are going to result in in modern America. It's inevitable that you'll get kids, pensioners, right wing gun lovers, KKK, normal small business owners, all arming up. Either to protect their property or just to try and start something.
Dude shoots someone in the head with a rifle.
People try to stop him.
He kills one.
Self defense.

I'm no legal scholar, but that doesnt seem right.

Do agree with your second part. America is fecked. Trump's just the drop that made the bucket spill over. (is that a Van Gaalism?)

The whole situation is fecked.

This may have been posted before but at the end of the video bizarrely, he walks towards the cops with his hands up and people are shouting that he shot people and the cops just drive past a clearly armed man walking away from the scene of a shooting.

He's even asked if someone is injured ahead.

Theres 3 or 4 different guys armed in that video alone and your can hear distant shots fired after the guy in green is finished shooting.

How are they, from both sides, just allowed to walk around armed like that and the polic just drive past?

Dunno about the first shooting, which is what I assume he's been arrested for. But the second and third are pretty clearly self defence arent they?

Nope. Not self defense at all. He's basically a domestic terrorist on a rampage. He needs to be locked up for life.

Why were they all shooting each other? Who was shooting against who? Is it trump vs BLM?

The guy has a gun and has already shot someone and is thereafter seen shooting indiscriminately but it's the guy with the skateboard who's motives we need to question?

Some of you are fecking imbeciles.

Is a 17 year old legally allowed to have an open carry assault rifle?

If not I hope they f*cking charge his parents too.

A rapist gets caught in the act of raping a woman, he gets set upon by people passing by, he stabs and kills one of them. Someone on redcafe:

"Clearly self defence."

Good for the Bucks (and hopefully the Brewers) btw.

Thing that sickens me more is how this plays into the hands of the racists, sorry, GOP who are knee deep in telling surburban housewives how dangerous and liberal cities are.

This is the 17yo, with and assult rifle who shot the 3 last night..... listen to the end where the police say "We appreciate you, we really do". Why are there no police shooting him? He has an assault rifle around his neck, they have by standers telling the police what he just did FFS, he just shot 3 people... This is probably the most fecked up shit I have seen in a long time. I'm not mad i'm just fecking sad at the state of this, no doubt some smart cnut will have a reply.

What the feck? Why was he just allowed to walk along carry an assault rifle? Why wasn’t he ordered face down on the floor?

He is white, im guessing. They don't even look concerned.

Unreal, I mean genuinely unreal to the point of insanity. The guy was carrying an assault rifle. If ever there was a video that highlights the fecking insanity of USA gun laws (sorry any USA posters but your country is majorly screwed up when it comes to gun laws) then this is it.

I totally agree, but yet there are people defending this shit, can u imagine what would have happened if that was a black guy? I would say they would just have let rip and ended him saying, "he had a gun", "we were in danger", "he is guilty of something anyway", this kid just killed 2 people.

What on earth is there to defend? Am I missing something?

Edit: sadly the last part of your post would be correct.

Apparently because he was defening property and was initally chased by the first guy he shot in the head, then was chased again when he shot the othet 2, the stand your ground law might kick in and he might get of with a good lawyer

Nothing mate, people on here were defending a guy getting shot 7 times in the back in a car where 3 of his kids were. We are desensitised to this now, its just sad.

The open carry laws and the fact that the police see these right wing vigilantes so being on their side.

They thanked what looked to be this guy and his buddys earlier and handed them water while announcing all reporters and protesters should clear the streets.

Curfew should mean open carry isn't allowed and no one should be exempt.

There must be a point where he was living out a fantasy, look how hes carrying the weapon, how he is surrendering. Just reading now his computer is full of white supremacy shit. Oddlly hes wearing gloves but no face mask..... he is clearly mental.

Fecking insane. I’ve always enjoyed my time in the USA and have always had a very positive view of America and Americans but their gun laws are completely screwed and when potentially coupled with racism that’s a dangerous mix.

Is there any evidence of what happened with the first guy that was shot?

All I've seen is some bloke getting riled up because the shooter apparently pointed out his gun at him.

he's just a fecking kid like. Where are the parents! Why would you buy your kid that rifle at such an age, then let him leave the house with it at night.

He's either going to end up dead or arrested.

Its fecking madness.

He wasnt the only person walking round with a rifle either. If seen protesters with them and then these other people who claim to be defending property with them.

Total madness

the only video ive seen is the one when he was being chased around the car, he shot back hit thr guy in the head then called the police on himself.

But apparently because he was at the gas station protecting property, when that guy starts chasing him there's a possibility this stand your ground law can kick in where you can use lethal force to protect property or your person.

Obviously this is all second hand information and could be total shite, but i wouldnt be surprised if he got if.

@choiboyx012 maybe you'd know better the laws on this

I agree with all u say, I just find the reaction of the police odd even sickening given what has happened this weeek, they don't even try to escort him away.... they throw him water and thank him...….

He was from out of state. No way he was defending anything other than weirdo fantasies in his head.

that was before the shooting no?

Not that it makes that much of a difference

there is a video of him saying he's defending business premises.

A good lawyer will say that was his intention, he felt threatened and fired.

I could very well see him getting of with this, if this stand your ground thing is real

The powers that be need to be charged, if u can buy ammo at the local "Tesco" in the USA there is clearly something completely fecked, but hey its the constitution.

There's a lot that needs to be done. Making rules that ensure only adults have access to firearms is one of many required fixes.

No that was after and he was giving himself up...

You can hear by standers saying "he just shoot people"

i thought it was just cut like that?

Wtf? Why isnt he cuffed? He even rang the cops on himself after the first shooting and said i just killed someone

He's from Illinois. This is in Wisconson. He has no legitimate reason to be there and the feds are going to feck him up (hopefully)

It's more of the internet market and black/underground/shadow market. It's way too easy to acquire a gun in the United States. And state laws vary from state to state and 'internet' laws don't really apply. It's such as clusterfeck in terms of how people can acquire guns. Way too many loopholes and other alternatives like the internet, black market, etc.

I've not seen that one. I've only seen the aftermath. I didn't realise it was the police here was on the phone to.

I hope it gets some sort of regulation soon, I know its the minority in the US that do this shit but the US is BIG.

Oh good point, maybe it wasn't. Sort of just assumed. In fact, yea probably wasn't the police actually, more likely a buddy.

The video is through one of the twitter feeds posted in here

do you think if the public has less access to firearms, cops need for guns and thus shootings would reduce?

There's no hope for the US. There are over 350 million firearms in circulation. They're never going away.

Making it slightly harder to get guns via background checks, licensing, etc may help the issues we see with policing but honestly in that climate the cops need to approach every interaction as if a gun may be present. However, they should always wear protective vests to reduce their chances of serious harm and use this to keep from overreacting anytime they see something that might be a gun.
