Pro Evolution 2017

I did actually manage to win a game with all the manual settings eventually, it was incredibly satisfying and the goals were actually really nice moves. I'll stick with it I reckon.

£26 in-store at Tesco.

Is that on it's own or one of those 'when you spend 40 quid' things?

I'm a FIFA guy but love the PES demo so was always planning to pick it up for cheap further down the line.

On its own. My mate picked one up earlier today.

Currently playing a Master League as Barcelona. Unbelievable fun due to how realistic Messi, Neymar, Suarez, Iniesta and Busquets feel to play with. Some might say it is easy going Barcelona but I am 9 games in and I am 3rd in the league due to Madrid and Atletico wining every game. The challenge is still there due to how consistent them 2 are.

Aargh thanks bro. Not to sound like too much of a simpleton - what am I missing out by turning it off & does it affect things like myclub?
It affects form and stats and any transfer updates, will be annoying in January as if you have leagues like bundesliga etc.. doing a squad update will mess it up, so will have to load the option files again

I think I may have messed up the option files thingy. Thinking of doing it again today. How do I delete the previous option file? Also is there a limitations to number of images etc? Noticed that after I loaded Cristiano92 version 2.5 in addition to the 2.0, I couldn't save.

It can be quite confusing, but basically only ever install teams that haven't already been done. If you are upgrading an option file then you probably have to uninstall the old one first, because otherwise it will install duplicated of the same kits and fill up all your kit slots. I think you have to go into 'delete all images' to remove stuff.

Thanks. Will have a look at that once I get back from work. Part of the problem I noticed was that my Fenerbahce team for example was patched up, but the squad remained fake. So was thinking of redoing it again. But the delete images won't change the squad data?

But my main gripe is the slots seems to be full because I can't save.

You need to apply the live squad update so it appears offline, then you need to install the kits. Can't remember where this is done but it's named something obvious in the settings area.

When you apply your kits then, make sure you do not check any of the two boxes. If you are adding teams entirely (i.e. Bundesliga), then you need to make sure that the bottom box is ticked. Obviously you may end up with a situation where you have kit replacements and entire teams at the same time (i.e. EPL and Bundesliga teams). the solution would be to import one league at a team, so you can check/uncheck the relevant boxes depending on the league.

You probably have all your slots being used because of the previous imports you have done. Importing an option file simply adds all the kit/emblem images to your game and applies them automatically to each team. It will add duplicate images every time you import the option file because it will not check if the image already exists. Another alternative is that the kits you are importing are all 2K, which have fewer available import slots, so you may have filled all these slots. I think most option file makers have caught onto this so they will be assigning sizes logically, but if you are combining option files then you may well end up with two many of one size.
I personally go with PES World, as it offers a separate import file for each league and makes it easier for me to manage. From there, you can fill in the gaps by importing missing leagues from other option file creators (as I did with Bundesliga) until PES World complete theirs.

Edit: Just read that Cristiano's OF requires 2.5 to be installed over 2.0, so it looks like you did that right and there would be no duplicates there. He also suggests 'Applying player and squad data', so i'm guessing his update should include the latest transfers.

Further edit: I just read Cristiano's thread and it looks like there is an issue with Fenerbache which sounds like the exact issue you are having. Basically, everything else I said as you have probably done things right).

Yeah, I just read that as well. Guess I'm going to try reinstall the rest of 2.5 then save. What I did was install the rest of 2.5, then install Fenerbahce then only did I try to save. That's where the screw up is from I guess. Am having fun with these installs. Just found patches for Asia/Oceania and South America on PESGaming as well. Am excited for the legends team patch that is being talked about on the forum as well.

no way around that at all?
There didn't seem to be last year.

At least, from what I understand, the problem is the actual images of logos, sponsors etc. The actual kit colours and general patterns can be uploaded via option file, but Microsoft don't want the ability to import images or something like that.

Which is strange - recently Bethesda confirmed that mods would not be coming to the PS4 version of Fallout 4, whereas they've been working brilliantly with Microsoft and Xbox for months. Again I'm not an expert but I would have thought actual game mods would be more difficult to implement but I'm guessing this is down to legal reasons above anything else.

Yeah the issue with Pro Evo and Microsoft is correct in that they don't allow images to be imported. I think the Fallout/Skyrim issue has something to do with Sony having some pretty outdated/conflicting policies in regards to mods. Basically Sony have policy that requires mods to pass some sort of quality assurance certification so they don't affect the games performance and Bethesda say the mods only affect the game on a superficial level so they don't need to pass QA. I think they also have restrictions on the file sizes of mods aswell which are in conflict with Bethesda's mods. Jim Sterling did a video about the whole kerfuffle a few weeks ago.

I've been playing myClub online the past week now and I've not had a single game with bad lag/stutter, it's still that very slight bit more sluggish than offline but I've been surprised by the consistency so far, have Konami finally got a decent online component this year round?

But they allow images to be uploaded in the 2k games I play. NBA 2K17 and WWE 16 both allow image upload.

PES really need to sort that issue out if they ever want to catch FIFA, Like I really want to buy PES this year but the lack of option file has stopped me getting it.

The problem is definitely on Microsoft's end in that regard, the Pro Evo guys have said the option file sharing would absolutely be in there if Microsoft allowed them to do it so it might be file sharing that's not possible on the Xbox One. https://xbox.uservoice.com/forums/2...ow-the-import-of-images-and-data-for-pes-2016

Best football game I've ever played. Option file was simple to sort out, even found a Bundesliga one.
Now how to find time to finish Witcher 3, play this, F1 2016, Madden 17, hold down a relationship and a full time job

Why have they taken stuff out of the game for no reason? Like some of the stadiums?

Old Trafford is gone. United aren't licenced and Arsenal/Liverpool are instead, but neither of their stadiums are in the game. So they've just taken stuff out of the game for no reason at all?

It's alright to play, but the realism is completely lost when Man Red (who's kit is black?) are playing Merseyside Blue at the Konami stadium in the incorrectly formatted "England Cup". The gameplay is decent doesn't come close to justifying the shite you have to ignore or put up with to get to it.

People keep defending this game as not being for online players or people who want to prat around with ultimate teams online etc...but then if it's not targeted to that audience why is there such a piss poor attempt in so many aspects (to the point it almost seems deliberate), to make it seem like a realistic football sim?

The days of Master League addiction being able to rescue any of these types of flaws are long gone.

All the best versions of Pro Evo had made up teams/players and fictional stadiums tbf. Never felt like an issue at the time. Does that stuff really spoil your enjoyment of the game?

Because EA have a partnership deal with Man United.

Anfield is being added in a future update though, they announced the Liverpool partnership fairly late so I'd assume they just didn't have the time to implement it for release.

An option file on PS4 sorts out all the kits etc fairly easily too.

Yeah it kind of does. It was different with the old school PES games...I'm not sure how. Probably because they were so far ahead of anything else in terms of the realism with the actual gameplay. There was nothing that could be considered a competitor in that regard.

That's not really the case now, and you're also in an era where the competitor offers every team in every league in Europe, down to the lower divisions, realistic stadiums, fixture schedules, etc...you can't really combat that with a game that doesn't even have Bayern Munich on it and consider you've made a decent effort.

Even the old school PES games (in fact even ISS) had all the main teams and an attempt at realistic environment/stadia.

If the gameplay was amazingly good or addictive, or there was something akin to as fun as Master League used to be, it'd be less of an issue. The gameplay is decent...it's an improvement and has it's moments that are really satisfying. It's still got it's flaws though and it still lets itself down horribly at times. It's not strong enough to mask over chasm sized cracks in other areas.

I haven't played any in yonks but have football obsessed kid who's nearly old enough for a console so might dip in again soon. I was quite fond of "Man Red" and the made up players in that team. I reckon my young lad would be gutted if he couldn't play as a United team with Zlatan and Pogba in it, though. Neither of us would be too fussed about stadia. Is there a "Man Red" in this game?

What do you want them to do though? EA have paid money way beyond Konami's reach for exclusive rights to The Premier League, German and The Spanish Leagues that run for multiple years. The rights to recreate the stadiums also now form part of EA's deal so Konami can only make their own, if they try to outright copy them or have similar looking ones with fake names they could get sued to high heaven by EA. They've pretty much done the next best option the have which is to partner up with UEFA so the get the Euro's CL and EL, do individual deals with clubs/National teams to include some real stadiums and licenced teams, include an edit mode for people to change the team names/kits and for people who can't be arsed they've allowed option files to be shared so you just have to download it then upload to your PS4. Konami are a bit of a bumbling idiot of a company but in regards to Pro Evo they have done everything they possibly could to make sure folk can get the correct kits/leagues etc in the game. It sucks for Xbox owners that they cant upload option files but that one is on Microsoft.

Most of the main teams have the real players, not the real team name or kits though. Not entirely sure what United is named here as I patched it before playing but United do have Zlatan, Pogba, Bailly etc. Restriction of the Fifpro license if I'm not mistaken.

There's a Man Red, who play in black, not red. They do have all the correct players and names though, and the squads are actually up to date, which I think is a first for PES.

It's a magnificent game though. The unlicenced stuff doesn't spoil it for me at all.

Besides I plan on loading the option file tomorrow. So it'll be sorted. Bundesliga teams included.

So I bought both this and FIFA 17 with the intention to take back the one I liked least.

I kept this. Absolutely love it. The licensing void was fixed easily, and the gameplay is superb. The AI seem to be act naturally, not like the robotic league one teams in FIFA which play with the effectiveness of Barca.

Maybe because I'm the kind of player who only plays a few games at a time and doesn't bother with gimmicks like FUT, but this for me is hands down the best football game in years.

This without a doubt plays better than FIFA. If you can be arsed with updating the team kits, logos and so on the lack licensing becomes a non-issue. All the players have their own faces, and I'd say they look more realistic up close than their FIFA counterparts. Pogba even has his Pogboom hairstyle.

The FIFA gameplay feels a bit ruined for me at the moment, which is a shame because it does have the best online modes of the two.

Really thinking about getting PES in addition to FIFA this year. I´m basically only getting FIFA for online play with my friends, despite not liking the demo that much.

On the other side i was really surprised by the PES demo. It felt really good to play and the players seemed to be much more responsive in terms of commands. Could be a nice option for solo play compared to FIFA.
