Premier League Matchweek 3 (26-27 August)

The time added on I thought was fine. It's the calls I had a problem with. And I think Sterling's sending off was absurd.

You can't race into the crowd and hype, a situation up. It seemed surprising, but only because your first thoughts are cursing the late goal, rather than watching what he's doing.

Just noticed that the Chelsea v Everton game tomorrow is not on SKy (they are showing West Brom v Stoke instead).

Ridiculous.

Hence, piracy thrives.

People who run the league imagine all the neutrals with an interest in the game will pull a Likely Lads and wait until MOTD 2 comes on. Presumably we'll spend the day playing Space Invaders on our Atari's and popping out for a litre of milk for shilling and sixpence.

I know City didn't play well but winning playing shit is how we used to win titles! You can't always play amazing.

They're not showing it here in Sweden either. They're saying they've been told by the PL that they aren't allowed to for some reason.

@Sandikan
so well have 30 mins of extra time then if the full 90 is held to the same standard? Why is extra time micro managed like that?
Also 5 mins in itself was a joke
Its like those cup games in extra time that have the same amount of extra time for 15 mins as a normal half has. Its not just because its City, its always been a gripe of mine

Just the way it is.

It's like the way a losing team, or either team in the first 20mins can do things as slowly as they like, but if the team winning with 20mins to go slow it down they get clamped down on.

Most cup games I watch have next to no stoppage time on extra time.

Problem with Dean's showing today is we have the guy refereeing our match that will go try to one-up Dean.

I think the point is, Pep is supposed to be this visionary manager who only wins playing he greatest football known to mankind not scoring a flukey scuffed shot deep into added time

The worst thing about games like that, is you presume City will win, so don't give it any thought. Then time ticks on, and you can feel the adrenaline/stress feel increasing, and you're invested.

Then that goal goes in, and 20mins later still pumped with the irritation.
Clearly the worst ever game for that was that QPR one. That was pure stress throughout the second half, and hours after.

Generally you do a great job, but do you really think we want to see this again?

Was thinking that during the game actually, if let's say we concede a title losing 90th minute goal, how can sit through it again and record it.

This was really an important game, and I'm very disappointed. A draw here and a win by us would put us 4 points clear of City and would probably put some doubts in their minds. A lot of football is yet to be played, but it matters.

Indeed.

I can't (kinda) understand the 3pm saturday rule but why not televise them both tomorrow? Sky TV tomorrow are showing the West Brom game on Sky Sports Main Event and a repeat of a Leo Messi clips show on Sky Football.

I try not to stream and pay an absolute shitload every month for Sky and BT sport but christ it's annoying.

Who is that Viking behind Bilic on the West Ham bench eating peanuts?

Okay anybody defending the 10 mins of extra time. Was the ball not in play at all in the first 5 mins of injury time?

We got lambasted by the pundits for the times that we had added time under SAF. They don't even mention it when the ref doubles the added time here today.

This, before the game I had no expectation of anything but a Shitty win, 80min on starting to get excited, 90min, actually feeling invested, 95min feeling rather happy waiting for the whistle. Then :(

Expected. City are the media darlings with purist Pep at the helm. Fergie was the evil emperor from Star Wars that had the league sussed.

No problem with Sterling's second yellow. Mata and Rashford picked up yellows for the same offence last season. They weren't stupid to do it having already been booked though, so was soon forgotten.

The added time was fair enough, and so was the sending off since it was a second yellow and Sterling jumped into the crowd which is a safety concern. Textbook yellow, and he would've been mental if he'd ignored it.

Regarding the time added on - 90 mins -> 5 mins added -> 1 min sorting out Pep = 96 minutes. Time-wasting during stoppage time -> 97 mins. Goal scored at 96:35-ish, at least two minutes of celebrations + sending Sterling off = minimum of 98:35 + the remaining 25 seconds up to 97 which makes it a minimum of 99 minutes to play

What wasn't fair enough was the ludicrous free kick he gave City right before the goal. That was an absolute shocker. If he gave it for the first foul, why did he allow play to be restarted from the middle of the pitch?

We only got lmbasted once and that was for the Sheffield Wed game when the ref got injured. It was only 7 minutes as I recall.

TBF, it was opposition fans that moaned not any pundits

Annoying how late City got the winner, but if this is the start of refs punishing teams who deliberately time waste in the dying moments of the match i'm all for it.

Sadly it won't be.

Two borderline mistakes. The Kompany one was more on the assistants as it was miles from the ball and the ref was watching that. The Ake one was borderline and while it looked a red, a yellow was acceptable as on the of the other CB's may have closed down Jesus.
I still think that free kick at the end was dodgy, but hell, I do want to enjoy my werkend, so meh.

It was soft but was it given in the 60th minute there would be feck all about it.
