Premier League Matchweek 3 (26-27 August)

Why did Mike Dean have to wait until everyone was lined up for the restart before sending Sterling off though? Completely unnecessary and shows that the prick is desperate to be centre of attention.

By the end of the season he'll be demanding his own entrance theme song.

Ref was shocking never a free on kompany by mouseff City go on to score from the free, all that money spent and scrapping past Bournemouth.

I thought City would be better than they actually are maybe its the sheer number of players being integrated into the team and it will take time but if im being honest Liverpool's strongest XI is just as good if not better going forward imo, both their defences are a shambles though at least Pool haven't spent near 200m+ for their defence.

Bournemouth committed too much right at the end. I have no qualms with the added time. Stupid of them to lose that way. But the last build-up for the goal was a mess from the ref. No control.

The 5 minutes itself was stupid. 4 would have been justified.

Although, the extra time actually started 1 minute late, so game should have ended around the 95th minute. Still, defend to the whistle, they were better and got the win, move on.

Anyone have a replay of the free kick in the lead up to the city goal? It looked like a perfect tackle to me but I haven't seen any replay of it.

There are very generous with the added time. It's not a bad thing for me.

Yeah, obviously it is good to make sure time wasting teams don't benefit from it- the problem is when teams do it and then the referee adds 2-3 mins just because they feel like it on the day.

Watching United play at OT last season teams would waste time all game and we'd get 2-3 mins added. It's full on bollocks.

I hate interviews with players after the game. They never say anything of interest ever.

"I scored and I am pleased, we have to work hard"

Other player, your thoughts?

"He scored and I am pleased, we have to work hard"

Utter shite, always.

Sterling was already booked. His celebration warranted him a second yellow which was completely the right decision by Mike Dean.

Watching it again, its hard to know. He didn't exactly leave the field of play to celebrate or enter the crowd or remove his shirt. It was more muppet City fans coming over the barriers. It depends on what the ruling states and to be honest I don't know it.

Maybe we all are overrating city. 3 games and look nothing great. Long it may continue.

There was a minute or two of injury in stoppage time as well. It was fair so lets not pretend like it wasn't just because it's for a rival.

Poor Bournemouth though. From almost scoring the 2-1 to losing 1-2 in 50 seconds.

You got to laugh at anyone who thinks 6 minutes of time added to the 5 minutes of injury time was justified :wenger:

If only more of them thanked their wife and girlfriends.

They go top just like that. Pundits on NBCSN not pointing it out, I'd bet my left bollock if that was United it would be the main talking point.

Is this a piss take? Why would they be talking about that when United play in 3 hours and would go back on top with a W or D

Did he definitely give a foul for that? If so, ludicrous. I thought it might've been pulling back play for the really obvious foul before that. It seemed like a pretty long delay so it wouldn't be a good decision either...but at least vaguely understandable.

Pretty sure he did yeah.

Brings back last seasons game against them. Bournemouth are the biggest time wasters there is, but Mike Dean is a real piece of work adding that much time on.

Poor Bournemouth though. From almost scoring the 2-1 to losing 1-2 in 50 seconds.
It was bad play from King. Should have released it earlier or held it up to kill time. Instead the brainless cnut went for glory and ended up giving them possession. We've seen it before

Really? Who?

Anyways, Bournemouth were time wasting the entire game so I can understand.

Arguably shouldn't have had the time to score but the red card was harsh. No arguments with him being shite though.
At 90:00 the board goes up for 5 minutes. Dean then spends a minute sorting Pep and Howe out. So that knocks it onto 96:00. In the 94th minute Bournemouth have a player down, knocks it to 97:00 minutes. Sterling scored before 97:00.

Fact is, back in 2009 your goal to win the 4-3 derby was scored well beyond the added minutes, but it's always a minimum of added minutes and both goals are perfectly fine. Mike Dean can absolutely fecking feck off, though.

It's because the majority footballers are dull as dishwater with single figure IQs. Zero personality.

Also, they need to change the rule for Yellow card for celebration. 30 seconds for celebration, we don't care how you celebrate as long as you aren't sending political statements and Adebayor vs Arsenal type celebrations. What's football without passion!

but does the ref also account for extra stoppages after 90 mins, within his allotted stoppage time? Whats the ruling on that?

Pretty sure the ref sets the time before 90 are up. The clowns on the sidelines messing about and doing it late doesn't affect it.

Had no problem with the game stretching on and on, Bournemouth players were down, Pep was getting told, all sorts.
I'm just gutted Bournemouth lost focus near the end. They thought they had a chance to win it and lost a bit of discipline.

No problem with the sending off. It could have been dangerous. Sterling is brainless.

I wouldn't label Sterling as 'brainless' because of his celebration.

I think in that moment in time, when you've scored a last minute goal, your emotions take over and you often find yourself doing things you wouldn't normally do.

Sterling won't be the first, nor the last person to celebrate like that after a last minute goal.

I'm talking about them not mentioning the two extra minutes out of no where.

Not too much problem with the time added on. It just comes down to luck really. And there's no team in the league that are luckier than City. They look average at the moment though. That's not to say that will continue to look that way of course, but they're so open you can easily score against them.

Just concentrate on our own game. We're playing really well and hopefully that continues later.

Guardiola has no class. Always moaning with referees, officials and now with opposition managers. You won't hear the media saying anything though. Pep is the second coming of Jesus according to them. They were quick to say how City will walk the league and no team stands a chance this season but so far despite all the money that's been spent they still have the same problems of last year.

Against Bournemouth and Brighton ?

They can't afford to play like this against mid table sides and top half teams like they got lucky against relegation fodder...

And they won't get 10 minutes etc time in those games either...
Sure, but it's an ominously fortunate opening, winning ugly even when they play badly, etc. We know the talent they have must gel at some point.

Is David Clattenburg's dialect the normal Geordie dialect?

To me he sounds like a non native English speaker with his dictation.

I think he was unlucky. The crowd surrounded him, it's not as if he dived into the crowd but the ref had only one view of it and could be forgiven for seeing a lot of people on the pitch

Reminds me of Nani in that Chelsea League Cup game

If there's blatant time wasting then yes, he has the discretion to add it on. The five minutes didn't start till at least 2 mins were gone with Bournemouth wasting time, then all the celebrating in the crowd
yeah. I have no issues with that at all. He did the correct thing re stoppage time imo.
