Premier League Gameweek 6

Palmer has been fantastic but this has been entirely self-inflicted by Brighton (even the free kick, amazing as it was, was earned as a result of Brighton's stupidity). Just a horror show of a performance. Palmer could get 6 here if Brighton don't change their tactics at the half.

Cucurella has got to be more careful there. Another day and that's a second yellow.

I don't know why but I feel like this Brighton manager and Ange come from that FM school of thought where high line attacking system is the best tactic to use in that game.

Our result against Brighton looks worse by the minute. They're terrible. Credit to Chelsea for capitalising but Brighton are as bad as any team I've seen this season

Chelsea attacking with a 424 because they know any long ball and they're in.

They did not play this poorly/stupidly against you. By far the worst they've been this season.

Completely on you if you've seen any of their games this season.

Yeah fair enough, should’ve known better

Chelsea defense rather suspect. Not sure how that will hold up in the bigger games.

No idea how there could be an offside check on that goal

Chelsea is just scoring for fun. I thought they might be the surprise team of the season. Defensively quite frail though.

Did Sherwood ask if palmer is the first player ever to score 4 goals in a half?

Lewandowski got 5 in 9 minutes once.

People will bill them as a “surprise” team if they finish top 4 when with the money spent they shouldn’t be. I guess they’ve been shite the last 2 years.

Arteta knows best, but that seems so odd.

Odegaard is a Giggs-esque captain and makes sense. The other three are odd. Zinchenko never plays. Jesus is never fit. Jorginho doesn’t seem to be a galvanising captain.

I’m a casual Arsenal fan as my girlfriend is a season ticket holder. Any idea why White is out these last two? I rate him above Timber as a right back, and rate Timber above Calafiori as a left back. Obviously White is out today.

You seem to be operating as a back 3 in possession today, with Calafiori or Timber dropping into the 3 depending on what side of the pitch the ball is on. It looks really good. Do you reckon Timber is the player to spend a season playing LB or RB depending on whether White or Calafiori is starting? or do you reckon this is now your best back four?
Jorginho has a great influence even when he doesn't play, you can see him shouting instructions while warming up. White is not a very vocal player, lead by example kind of guy.
I don't know what back four is the best. It's only Leicester but Calafiori's positioning today seems to do a lot of good for Martinelli. Shades of Xhaka. When all 3 are fit i think White starts because he activates Saka like no one else. Timber at LB is the most solid solution, Calafiori for the easier games and rotation. Great problem to have for Arteta !

What is it about Chelsea that brings out the completely suicidal opposition tactics (Wolves were similarly open)? Am I missing something? Also, there is no way Maresca actually wants his team to play like this. They've got the results but there's been so much variance and so little control despite all the goals.

Yea, they're exposing Brighton's suicidal high line very well but have been similarly terrible at the back themselves. Brighton could easily have had another goal themselves.

Sounds fun.
