Premier League Gameweek 5

The problem with Chelsea is that they're missing their world class players (James, Kante) and the random bunch of youngsters they've signed to be the supporting cast are no better (any in many cases actively worse) than the ones they had before. Timo Werner, despite his finishing issues, is a far better player than the likes of Mudryk and Nicholas Jackson.

When a downhill Sterling is your best attacker.. it doesn't bode well. Pochettino will be in trouble before long, just like Potter. At Spurs he had Kane, Son, Dembele, Eriksen.. he doesn't have that depth at Chelsea.

I do like Roberto Sanchez - stood out for me at Brighton and still looks good. Would've been a better buy than Onana for me.

Ryan Christie is a good midfielder - happy to take the ball in tight spaces, protect it and look for the forward pass. We need someone of that style in between Casemiro and Bruno.

Also this extra 10 minutes at the end of every match on top more matches is going to kill the players.

Can’t decide who’s worse between us and Chelsea.

hard to believe both squads cost over 2 billion.

Chelsea less points and goals scored in the 5 Premier league games. Losing 3-1 to ten man West Ham, losing and not scoring at home to Forest and following up that defeat by not scoring today is worse than what United have done so far this season. Tottenham,Arsenal and Brighton who all beat United will also beat that Chelsea side in current form.

It's nothing special at the end, Brentford's xG was 3 in their game against Bournemouth.

That looks about right. But, I will look at other xg numbers as well and see what the average is. Some will have them closer to 3 as well, I would imagine.

It would be more embarrassing if bournmouth had higher xg, but this story tells the same narrative as previous game e.g., chelsea dominates and creates load of chances, but can't finish

I actually think Jackson has bags of potential he just needs to work on his finishing

Chelsea looks like they will lead the xg chart this season even ahead of Brighton, liverpool arsenal and Manchester city. They will definitely continue to be in the top 4. But untill they get nkunku or someone that can put the ball in the back of the net, it will mean nothing. It will vindicate the manager, but not the chelsea board or their recruitment team.

100%,

Chelsea look by far the worse side currently, simply average at best.

How can you say that, when underlying statistical numbers tells a different story? I know most fans doesn't have in depth footballing knowledge, but their is a reason these statistics exist.
Because I’m not solely reliant on statistics and can make judgement for myself based on, I don’t know, what I see with my own eyes.

Consequently, I don’t believe they are an outstanding football team. I know that might be impossible for you to fathom with your vastly superior football knowledge (which I’m sure you put to great use in the really world too).

As another poster mentioned, their XG didn’t even supersede Bournemouth’s by that much either. Certainly not enough to declare them as prime Barcelona which I’d also be interested to know if you refute too…

Chelsea have won 4 prem games since January.

I know from past experience once a losing mentality starts running through a club it's very difficult to change overnight. Even when you spend 100s of millions.

There's just so few goals in this Chelsea team. Good job Sterling has turned up so far this season otherwise they'd have so few threats in final third.

Cole Palmer needs time to settle in but he wasted two very good counter attack situations in second half with mediocre passes and that's why Chelsea aren't a top team currently.

People going on about the injuries but half of them out are defenders so bar Reece James they're not going to make a huge difference to that situation.

Nkunku is out until December isn't he so Chelsea won't be scoring 3s or 4s anytime soon unless opposition backline is either a promoted team or has a really bad 90 minutes.

Still frustrated this game got moved. We have a good record at home against Arsenal recently but just don't see us doing it today. Hope Beto can cause some havoc.

Just me or does Arteta massively overcomplicate trips to Goodison every single season? He seems to set up like they're going to Camp Nou.

Thought he'd have given Raya a chance more in CL first and also league cup.

Also feels like Vieira will get bullied by Doucoure and Onana, probably a game Havertz would've looked competent in.

I actually think Everton will get a draw from this, feels a 1-1 to me.

Your trolling is getting boring. Just give up man.

No way, 4-1 Arsenal.

No way, 4-1 Arsenal.

Would be the first Arsenal win at Goodison since October 2017. All teams have their jinx away venues and since Stoke got relegated that season this is now Arsenal's so that will play into both players minds leading to kick off.

Ah ok, so you make the vast amount of your judgment based of non-emperical method. Yea, that will get you far .

That is also just one xg number (most will have chelsea supersede Bournemouth by a wide or a narrow margin) and no one is saying chelsea are prime Barcelona. If that is your assumption then, they must be doing something right.

Has there ever been a striker more destined to fail than Beto? (Caveat - I know nothing about the lad and he could be lethal  ) but it just seems to have all the ingredients for a recipe for disaster

What? He's been great in his first two appearances.

The age old 1a and 1b goalie thing showing why it basically never works already.... too much chatter over it already putting too much pressure on Raya and Ramsdale midweek(should he actually start, likely though). Luckily enough neither are actually starters for their countries, so probably enough to get 2 years out of it.

Of course they set up an emotional tape of an Everton win Vs Arsenal before we go 1-0 down within 5 minutes.

Ok then, I retract my dumb question. Just sounds like a regen of a striker destined to be mid to low level. Feel free to tag me though after he scores a brace to say you told me so :)

Hopefully you're right :D
Although that pulls United closer to the relegation zone :nervous:

You say trolling, but tell me what i said that was wrong? If you can't, give up on football and start watching a different sport.
:lol::lol:
Only the two games I've played this weekend.
How about you?

He's a decent player, might be a bit raw, but certainly works hard and can finish.

He's had a bit of a Jamie Vardy type rise.

Usually when Everton sign a striker, this would be a safe bet, but he's looked like Batistuta next to anybody else in an Everton shirt the couple of games he's played.

He's big, rangy, fast, surprisingly skilful for a big lad and looks to have very good work rate and mentality. He could of course very easily regress to the mean as Everton players will tend to do, but he looks like Dyche's dream number nine and then some so far.

Young is one hell of a player to still be carrying on at the top level.

Fair play to him.

Watched the Chelsea game today, didn't even realise Enzo was playing until the 40th minute. He was played out of position. Chelsea look far better than we do, they just need a striker and a focal point for all the other attackers.

I think I saw Ashley Young. Yep, that's him!
He now 50yrs old? Still playing, good for him. Be better if he scores, like he did in 8-2 game. One can dream..
