Premier League - Gameweek 16

Chelsea actually got a chance to go top next weekend if they hang on as they play before Liverpool on the Sunday.

You ain't watching this Southampton game clearly.

Gets even worse
Nah done with football for the day haha. But yeah I see the result.

Southampton looked decent at the Etihad funny enough:lol:

Really funny by Jackson to go from just tripping himself over and falling on the ball on the previous chance and then doing this.

Just when I was thinking Chelsea will never win anything with Jackson up front, he does and does that,

Wacko Jacko scores one of the most difficult efforts after that flop in the box
This guy maaan

Spurs even bottle a 2nd half. Could have easily scored 7+ here

So weird to see Sancho fighting with an opposition player for the ball, especially in the 95th minute - whatever the manager has done to reach him is remarkable.

Cucurella sent-off after the game with a second yellow.

Turned the game off then saw Cuccurella managed to get a red? What happened there?

He got a yellow very late in the game for a tackle, and then after the whistle it all kicked-off between a few players with him at the heart of it from the Chelsea side so the ref booked him again. He didn't realise until a minute or two later that he'd been booked again.

Chelsea winners of the weekend. 2 points behind Liverpool (obviously with game in hand). Don't think they've been close to the top since December 2021 - think they were close to Liverpool back then as well, under Tuchel.

Arsenal must be absolutely kicking themselves here. They really should be up there. Seems like they're struggling to score many from open play.

I liked his attitude an press conferences but there was no way he was going to survive trying to play that kamikazi football from out the back in this league

That makes no sense, you could say Arsenal dont have an attack thats good enough to win a league title at the same time.
Makes sense to me, though Arsenal being great the last 2 seasons does a lot of heavy lifting here. Neither you nor Arsenal have been good enough so far to think either could truly challenge Liverpool for the title, but with Arsenal there's always the possibility things fall into place and they go back to last season's level. Whereas with Chelsea, you need to trust the combination of Sanchez being good + luck to keep the GA manageable - you are a bad defensive team - and Nico Jackson to continue scoring his chances

You can see why it's easier to believe that?

In all honesty, I expect Liverpool to run away with the title

Yeah, Dippers have the best balance in their team. Whereas Arsenal don't have the attack and Chelsea don't have the defence. I suspect the Dippers will win the league with 8-12 points by the time all is said and done.

We are not in the title race. Our manager clearly said . So far team performed more than expectation. We have same goal difference as Liverpool.Just two points possibly five behind Liverpool. Four points more than arsenal.

Not at all cared about title race. We gave up the season just to build a spine, base and style when maresca was appointed. If we win the title it's a bonus. We are enjoying just what we saw on the pitch.

Next game matters and we have enough to win next three points. Thats all matters in this season.

Yeah, you should make top 4 easily

I do, they havent stopped crying about it
True.

But that's also why the poster who said Spurs never beat them is pretty much spot on. It's going to take a VAR that's high, two red cards and a last second deflection for Spurs to just about beat them.

We conceded 4 more goals than Arsenal, we aren't that bad defensively. Does it need be improved? sure. Why cant Jackson keep scoring?. He has the most non penalty goals in the PL since the start of last season this isn't a patch of good form he's just a very good player.
I dont think we will win the league but its a lazy narrative we cant win the league with our defence and GK but Arsenal can with that attack.

You are actually. Leaving aside the fact that 4 goals in 15 games isn't a small difference, you've been lucky so far. Your defending has been quite a bit worse than the GA stat says

Sure Nico could. And I agree that Arsenal aren't challenging without improvement in their attack. My point is, since we've seen how good this Arsenal team could be recently(less than a year ago), it's easier to imagine them reach that level again, compared to Nico continuing to finish well and/or Chelsea going up a level as a whole. Nico having scored more non-penalty goals than anyone or whatever means very little given the actual numbers, and last season he underperformed his chances by nearly 5 goals...
