Premier League - Gameweek 16

Whatever about Tottenham they're a great watch. Signs of the Leicester 9-0 here a few years back. Stadium half empty already

Somewhere in Germany, Ralph Hasenhuttl has started crying and he doesn't know why.

Would it be an exaggeration to say Southampton might be the worst PL team ever?

Nearly halfway through the season and 5 points. Bloody woeful.

We’re top scorers in the league but in 10th presumably after this game. Not sure what to make of this season so far, it’s a roller coaster ride.

Derby 07/08. 11 points and 89 goals conceded Is hard to beat

Need to beat or equal Derby's record, which I'm starting to think is impossible.

Feck. Title race back on.
I just don’t see it with them. More chance of Arsenal going on a run.

Chelsea’s defence and goalkeeper isn’t good enough to win it this season.

Dominated this half and just some poor decisions stopped us scoring earlier.

That makes no sense, you could say Arsenal dont have an attack thats good enough to win a league title at the same time.

Southampton manager missed the last goal as he went to dressing room to await the players

That's a great finish for that 5th goal. Seemed like a really strange angle to score from at first.

True, we are vulnerable at the back. But unlike Arsenal we actually look very dangerous going forward.

I agree that we are 1 or 2 pieces away from a proper title challenge.

What is the point of Southampton?

Just over two years ago they sacked Ralph Hasenhuttl.

He'd probably run his course with them but he produced some very competitive teams on low budgets which was taken for granted a bit especially when you see the complete mess that Russell Martin is making of managing in the premier league.

Arsenal who can’t score open goals? I hope we do keep flying under the radar.

But we have only conceded 3 more than Arsenal.

It’s Chelsea who I’ve been worried about for some time now, especially when their midfield has been so good. Now put those next five fixtures up against us and it’s a race. An even race in my opinion .

Spurs consistently inconsistent. 4-0 after 25 minutes with a stream of Southampton leaving the ground, their manager headed to the dressing room before half time and missed the 5th Spurs goal.

Russell Martin sticking to his style of football in the hope he gets a big job for playing a "modern way" of football.

Hope he gets sacked and never goes a league above league 1

Who are Spurs playing next in the league? Must be the easiest three points they’ll ever get.

I’ve seen teams with great attacks (Liverpool 13/14 for example) fail to get over the line because the back line wasn’t good enough. We shipped 50 goals that season.

I don’t think Chelsea are that bad, but I think you need a better goalkeeper and solid back line to get there. Wouldn’t surprise me if you were in the mix this year and win it next season.

Arsenal have goals in them. They’re just looking a bit blunt currently. Defensively they’re excellent and control games as well as anyone.

Yeah, that's fair.

The saying "defences win you titles" didn't come out of nowhere.

How haven’t Brentford conceded a penalty yet? Some of their set piece defending has been horrible.

Horror miss that, Jackson will have nightmares. His finishing is a bit jekyll and hyde.

Nicholas Jackson continues to suck. Will probably bundle in a goal at some point. Chelsea play with an impressive intensity (this game looks like it’s being played on fast forward compared to the Manchester derby) but still have clear weak links in defense and attack.

If Chelsea had a decent striker it would make a world of difference.. Jackson is never going to be a top striker. No footballing brain

Form over the last 2 months is definitely relegation form, but surely we have to be a bit hysterical to consider that as an option? Those thoughts are never far away for a City fan though.

A midfielder with energy will do us the world of good in january. We collapsed at the end today, largely thanks to one player in particular and then a long ball which is typical that the opposition makes the most out of in our current predicament but I thougt we looked a lot better with Kovacic back. If we can find someone good enough to both give us energy and quality in the middle in january I think we look a different team very quickly. Probably not as good as we wish to be, but at least ending the season relatively comfortably.

We are so used to having the best midfield in the world, it is pretty absurd seeing the current iteration of De Bruyne and Gundogan along with usually Rico Lewis trying to run a midfield together at the moment. Some issues are hard to identify, some are not.
We won't get relegated for sure, I mean we've almost enough points going forward. Mostly I was trying to say, this is not as bad as it could be.

For sure, 2 places we could be super relied upon was midfield and right back (defensively). Those are now huge holes in the squad. Not the end of the world of course but I'm not sure Pep has the fight in him for the rebuild.
