Premier League Festive Season (Gameweek 18-20)

Absolute joke. He literally could have just scored. Weird decision by Jota.

There was contact, to be honest. Made a right meal of it but I can see why it was given

Not to get all tinfoil hat about it, but if that’s us they at least tell the ref to go to the screen. They just do.

What fecking manager doesn't watch their team take a pen? What a massive bellend

Fotmob reckons it looked "suspect".

A suspect decision given to Liverpool at Anfield? I refuses to believes it!

This is genuinely the most one sided game I've ever seen chance wise. They have almost 7 xG here

There’s contact. The elbow hits his left foot when he makes the last step around the GK.
I'd say it's more like his elbow grazes Jota's heel as he pulls out of making any contact.

Looks like a pretty ridiculous decision and VAR is pointless if that's not overturned.

I cannot believe that was given.

Klopp putting pressure on refs again having an impact.

What's Neville on about the delay being great? Stop being so thick. Dubravka hits Jotas left foot as he takes the step with it and he goes down on the next step with that same left foot. It's his shooting leg and Dubravka took him off balance for the shot.
He plants the left foot in the ground and then the leg gives way in a way that obviously shows that it's not the contact that's taken him down, but rather his own decision. That is specifically what refs are supposed to look for.

After feedback from players and coaches earlier this year, referee chief Mike Riley has told officials that contact won't be enough and they'll have to decide if it has consequence and whether or not players are simply using the excuse of contact to go down.
"It's not sufficient just to say 'yes, there was contact,' Riley said.
"Contact on its own is only part of what referees should look for. If you've got clear contact that has a consequence, then that's what you have got to penalise."]/quote]

Contact isn’t a penalty. He can stay up on his feet if he wants. He chooses to throw himself to the ground. I get why VAR hasn’t overturned it on some level but it’s ridiculous.
I agree. But they would’ve never overturned it if there’s any contact. Probably wouldn’t give it if it was a no call from Taylor though.

Ridiculous decision he literally decided to fall to the floor 3 steps after the contact. He didn't knock him off balance and then he fell he literally threw himself down
I don't think it was a penalty at all, I can just see why the ref blew

It doesn’t matter if there was contact. It’s a contact sport. The key thing to anyone with half a brain is that the faintest of brushes doesn’t result in a collapse after three more paces.

It's useful when you're able to bring on the likes of Gakpo and Jota on.

High chance they win the league due to their numerous attacking options.

Minimal contact after which he takes two steps, realises he was touched and then throws himself to the ground. It's as blatant a dive as you'll see.

Agreed. He gets the contact, decides to take a couple of steps, but then changes his mind and decides to go down instead. Absolutely weird.

Liverpool must be in the triple figures for dodgy decisions for the season.

Yes but they had one miss in communication go against them so they need another dozen before it's even.

That Diaz goal being chalked off might be the best thing to happen to them when we look back on this season.
