Premier League 25/1/25 - 26/1/25

Its never in a million years a straight red. Its a cynical foul, but one you see every week and dont bat an eyelid. The referees are there to control the game, not ruin it.

If we had a few weeks of refs dishing out reds for similar anti-football fouls then I'd be all for it as the players would soon stop and the game would be better for it.

Of course that won't happen. No idea what the ref was thinking with that one.

Bournemouth absolutely flying. This is a bit of a freak season. Always the case when the dominant force drops off so much.

i really dont like arsenal and think they get away with murder. But its just an awful call, maybe the worst of the season. Michael Oliver needs reigning in but seems to actually get carte blanche to do whatever he wants every week without any reprimand. The worst official in the history of the premier league in my opinion

It is fairly outrageous to call it serious foul play..
The video shows his heel with studs up making contact near the outside ball of his ankle near enough to the achilles but is subjective from the angle they give us. Ref was on on the side and had a better view .

Yep, I'm obviously biased, but Oliver's displays need looking at.

I mentioned earlier that Perry Groves on Talksport said the other referees are scared of Oliver, they see him as refereering heirarchy. Look at what happened with that pen in our game against West Ham when he was on VAR.

Let's say it's a red because:

It stops a counter
It's from behind
There is no intention to steal it, juts fouling
and there is a bit of plugs implied.

Still? too harsh for a red because he clearly just wanted to stop the play, without doing extreme dammage. The ref should have tempered his reaction and just show a yellow one.

He's on it. :+1:
