I'm so gorgeous they want to put me under arrest!
Feck it, we used one of those Uno reverse order cards. The snake is heading back down boys!
Can we use another card to steal Johnny Giles from Frank's team?

Of course, although it’s a “double steal” card, so we’d have to take Bremner too. Darn.
Remember Sharpe crossing for Cantona and a great header Vs City. Lovely.I think he was probably my first favourite player. Well, him and Eric. I remember everyone doing the Sharpey Shuffle on the playgrounds after scoring.

and minus 2 for every Scouser from the red side.Maybe we should give each drafter one bonus vote/point for every United player they have in their teams?
Feck me better delete that Woods post I had lined up.
Still 2-3 good goalies left?Feck me better delete that Woods post I had lined up.
Yeah, I have a couple of others in mind anyway, but was wanting to big up Woods and go on about how he should have been England's #1 at Italia '90.Still 2-3 good goalies left?

I'm looking forward to Pat having to big up a Rangers legend. Couldn't even stretch to posting a pic of the big blond adonis in his Ibrox prime.Definitely not a point you should let go to waste
Tag me when you make your pick. I have Cal’s pickYeah, I have a couple of others in mind anyway, but was wanting to big up Woods and go on about how he should have been England's #1 at Italia '90.

Journalist Gary Naylor said:Ratcliffe was all about pressing up, playing the offside trap and having the pace to recover in the rare case anybody sprung the trap - Ratcliffe could give anyone 5 yards and catch them up over 40. It was like having two players, a man who could stand off and defend deep but also a man who could press up and play the offside trap.
Everton FC said:Blistering pace and a remarkable reading of the game enabled Kevin Ratcliffe to become one of the best (if not THE best) central defenders in the country. Add strength, bravery, the skills of leadership and a ferocious tackling ability to these attributes and you've got the complete defender.
Neil Roberts in Blues and Beatles said:Ratcliffe was the quickest defender in the league - he seemed to leave a trail of smoke behind his boots. He was a brilliant athlete.
Toffee Web said:When Everton beat Watford 2-0 in the FA Cup final of 1984, Kevin Ratcliffe became the youngest captain since Bobby Moore (23 years previously) to lift the famous trophy. That match signalled the start of the most successful period in the club's history. In the next three seasons, Ratcliffe skippered Everton to the European Cup-Winners' Cup, two League Titles and two more FA Cup Finals.
All the trophies came in the 3 seasons after he made the captain's armband his. There might well have been another even bigger cup – in 1985 Everton were unquestionably the best side in England, and as Champions they stood every chance of winning the European Cup the following season. Cruelly, they were denied their opportunity by the post-Heysel ban on English clubs in Uefa competitions.
While Ratcliffe was a footballer of limited natural ability, such were his pace, reading of and general approach to the game that this became irrelevant. It was his speed that caught the eye most – even if the Everton offside trap was breached, he was often able to turn and catch the intruder; indeed, they used to say you could tell the day after a match if he'd been playing as the pitch would be covered in scorchmarks.

Might have to leave mine too.Send it to me

Aye, the depth in that position isn't bad really.
Had a shortlist of twenty, I think. Very easy to dig up players who are in the «solid» category at worst - players with undeniable records/CVs at that.
British keepers have been rather shite for a while now - but generally the opposite was true for this draft's era.
One problem, just in terms of selling them, is that many of them have little to no international career to call on, simply because the likes of Jennings/Southall/Shilton/Clemence effectively monopolised the GK position in their respective national teams for so much of the timeframe.
Yes, true 'nuff.
Part of that story, though, is that a couple of those clearly overstayed their welcome and lived on very little but experience (which can be very valuable, of course) and reputation (which is worth exactly nothing on the pitch) during their final years.
In general, caps (lack thereof, more precisely) aren't a reliable indication of quality in this time frame: There are some positively bizarre cases for both England and Scotland (not least), i.e. players who were barely capped while being - blatantly - better than those favoured by the manager (or the FA, for that matter).

Is any around in an hour or two to take my picks?
