Pre-Match Press Conference | Atalanta v Manchester United | Champions League | Solskjaer & Fernandes

Tbf, after 10 games in Jose’s last season we had exactly the same amount of points in the PL, yet we hadn’t lost 0-5 to Liverpool and we had a better GD. Maybe you don’t realise exactly how bad things are at the moment.
Valid points raised and I agree the loss to Liverpool was probably one of the lowest points I’ve experienced as a United fan.

However under Jose we didn’t have the potential in the squad that we do now. For what it’s worth I’m of the opinion that it’s very unlikely we win the league at all with Solskjaer but I can appreciate the work he’s done to get us closer so far.

You think he’s emotionally blackmailing fans and dislike him irrationally.

I didn’t say you were suffering from mental illness but your post and attitude towards something completely out of your control isn’t healthy and so rather than spouting hate on a football forum maybe look at why you feel this way and think is supporting United healthy for you right now.

In no way is that me insulting you. It’s coming from a place of care and love.

You don’t know my views. You only know my stance on shitty comments about an uneventful press conference.

Again, stop pretending you're remotely interested in my emotional wellbeing. It's pathetic, you're just saying it to insult me without breaking the rules of the forum, it's obvious and petty.

Yes I dislike one of your heroes. I think he's a manager with very few skills to deserve a job as good as Manchester United. I think he's here entirely because of nepotism and the boomer mentality in this club about wanting to reminisce about the good old days instead of creating new ones.

Yes I think he's emotionally blackmailing us with comments like "I won't let me 18 years here go to waste". He's intentionally bringing his playing career into his managerial one to garner sympathy and people like you fall for it. It's a PR spin just like his entire time here. He acts like a politician and people eat it up.

I don't know your views but you know how my emotional state is, makes a lot of sense. Glad to know you have ESP or something.

You realize people can dislike something someone has said or a person without having it consume their life correct?

There's no such thing as an uneventful press conference when he's living day to day.

Some of you actually think that you're doing your part in getting Ole sacked, by moaning online every time you spot his name, don't you?

The mix of vitriol and self righteous thought police in here is more entertaining than our football, whichever side of the coin you are there's no denying Ole has been coming off untouchably smug recently.

Generally agree with the hate criticism from you mate but come on we'll be nowhere near the champions and AT LEAST one of Chelsea/City/Liverpool depending on who get crowned.

Just about making Top 4 seems the most reasonable hope right now and that's not a given by any stretches of imagination.
It’s too early in the season to tell but I don’t think we’ll be ridiculously far off.

We can and should comfortably finish top 4 which in my view means not being a million miles off those 3 which points wise we aren’t.

If we finish 15 points behind the first two then 10 points behind the third we're arguably miles off all three.

We finished second last year but were miles off City, so it was more like being the best of the weaker bunch that close to the best.

Thanks for turning us into RAWK guys. Well done.

Wasn't RAWK memed about more for the relentless optimism with nothing backing it up only for it to go all wrong in the end? I think you're blaming the wrong people for the comparison.

Seriously, what makes you think this? Beating Spurs who are in an absolute rut? We have just been schooled by Leicester and Liverpool not to mention the rest of our awful performances.
On what basis do you think we will comfortably finish in the top four?

I’m being serious and it’s genuine concern.

You’ve done a far better job more respectfully articulating your thoughts having engaged in discussion. I think you’re putting your own spin on his comments though.

Have a lovely day/evening depending on timezone.

Maybe I’m just an optimist. I think we had Ronaldo thrust upon us unexpectedly and the coaching staff have been figuring out how to fit him into the side and not be too open.

I think they’ve figured it out now.

Your post in this thread is some real RAWK material. You're acting like Ole cheated on you

There's the oft repeated quote about living long enough to becoming a villain...

He's certainly headed to that territory.
Yeah I saw in that Spider-Man movie with Harry Maguire.

Your pulling points behind out of thin air though for this season.

As things stand a win against Man City would put us level with them (of course behind in goal difference)

The mental ( and in some cases, biological) age of quite a few posters here is about 10, I would guess.

They need careful and sympathetic handling.

The potential we have in our squad is useless if Ole has to play 352 to win because our relative strength is in the attack heavy team he built.

So basically it's an admittance if complete failure for Ole and would be the start of a new project that he has NOT earned.

Just an observation.

United fans in general dislike him far more than at the start of the season and probably more than if he had resigned after the debacle vs Liverpool. I doubt this trajectory will change unless we actually go on to compete for top trophies which we won't with Ole.

Ah yeah I went on a quoting spree and you were probably collateral damage to be fair. Not sure your post should have been in there now.

What would you call relentlessly combining his managerial career and playing career like it is a single thing? He does that so the lines are blurred and fans forgive him for failing as a manager. Is it a bit extreme? Maybe, but it's true. Why else do you think he references it so much? Any deserving manager would be surviving on his merits as a coach alone, not that of his playing career or nepotism among the fan base and board.

Do you genuinely think he wakes up and decides to set out with a plan to emotionally blackmail? Course not. You're reading far too much into it, and should step away from the keyboard for a while based off that post, and consequent ones you've made in this thread.

It was his man that scored West ham's goal. He was shite.
Would he have made any difference at all in those games?
Nope.
I’m beginning to wonder if there’s a parallel universe … one when Donny played West Ham and screamed “give me the ball!”, ran with it, made a good mix of passing, got some tackles in and showed solid positional sense.

As opposed to the one I’m in when he looked like a rabbit in the headlights and marked no one but space.

No but I genuinely think he wakes up and goes:

"Man I'm really struggling to keep myself in the job, how can I lessen the pressure? How can I get people to my side". It's not as insidious but it's the same outcome and reasoning to do it. If not him, then his PR tells him to. Either way he does it. Maybe I just don't have any faith in humanity but I genuinely think that's how it goes, especially in a club that is run like us.

"I have always enjoyed criticism. Keep that coming. That's fine."

How can someone enjoy criticism? It only comes when you're not doing well.

It's really not. He's under no obligation to play Donny because some mentalist on the internet demands it.
Let's be honest, when he has played, he's been shite. Weak, slow and unfocused.

He has had one game in the league cup, one half in the CL and six fecking minutes in the prem. He wasn't the worst player on the team on any of those occasions, and it's not even slightly close to enough time to make any meaningful judgment. You don't sign someone for €40m and then stick him on the bench in perpetuity. One and a half non-league games is no basis for calling someone shite unless you were eager to do so before they ever set foot on the pitch. Plenty of our best players were awful in their first appearance when they had yet to grow into the team. Considering the fact that our midfield has been dire throughout most of the season, this makes it even more senseless to deny him a meaningful chance.

In just about any profession when people are getting close to being let go, you hear some things that are just not rational. I can't believe he has not lost it yet. He has been very fortunate that he has been treated fairly well this year by reporters.

Honestly and I mean this from the bottom of my heart. All of you go support a different team. You’re abhorrent excuses for “fans”.

Bog standard press conference and this is the reaction. Get to feck.
Here we go. A proper fan. A top red. Tell us how to be proper fans then, come on. How about you go and support a different team now that you mention it.

Jaysus lads. It was nothing burger of a press conference. You're like one half of a relationship that's falling apart and you can no longer stand the way the other person does anything.

Would you look at him sitting there.... breathing
Hush Withnail, Bruno gets it. I choose to believe he gets us, and was quoting all these tortured comments verbatim when he pointedly asked to answer a specific question in Italian rather than English right next to the unsuspecting Norwegian!

Given the fact that no one interpreted it when it was said and it was full of mentions of Gasperini, I'm sticking with my hunch.

By not stooping to be virtually abusive.

Make a constructive criticism by all means.

What did you not like about this press conference?
