Great stuffDouble negative....
Great stuffDouble negative....
I do miss some of the expansive passing we used to experience during the carrick-Scholes era. Neves would be perfect for that.
Sort of player Zizou would love at the base of our midfield. Nothing gets past him.Kondogbia looked good last night.
Of what?Paquet..
you know if someone meets lots of people and thinks they are dickheads sooner or later the person needs to consider are they the one who is a dickheadWhat if it turns out that jose is a great manager but it's our player that fails or doesn't follow instruction?
Yes the buck still stops with the manager, but if it's the later we'll be in some deep water regardless of who our next manager would be. Mourinho at the end of the day should shoulder the blame as half of the squad is his purchase. But a new manager won't suddenly make all our problems go away
Yep, this idea we can just chuck him out and have no problem replacing him was always crazy talk, he's a cut above the rest of the team, without him today we'd have gotten nothing.Irreplaceable
I would take Modric to give us some much needed calmness and composure centrally and probably someone like Fekir to give us some much needed spark and connection between midfield and attack. Neither our attack and midfield are on the same wavelength. No balance and a total lack of a seamless transition.
Its been said many times on here ,and I gather other places too, but the players we've got play like they've only seen eachother a hour prior to kickoff.
There's very little connection between any of them on the field.
Wow,I thought he'd just turned 31.Well,that's a shame. Would've been the perfect player even if he only gave us 2 seasons.Modric is quality but again it's a very short term fix, he's 34 next season.

Rabiot , Fekir and Eriksen would be my choices.
in terms of replacements I think we'd be better planning for Matic's replacement
we really need a player like Carrick to dictate the play, set the tempo and pass
Very much attainable. Rabiot is not renewing, Fekir should be available for 60-70m and Eriksen is in last year of his contract .That would be a dream come true for me.
And they might be an improvement not just a replacement as well. I'm not saying they're better than Pogba, they are better than the Pogba we've seen so far.Very much attainable. Rabiot is not renewing, Fekir should be available for 60-70m and Eriksen is in last year of his contract .
He is gone end of the season.@kouroux can you imagine Mourinho trying to throw Fékir and Rabiot under the bus?
this is a bit silly and sensationalistPlayers who could perform as well or better than Pogba in our midfield: -
Fred
Perreira
Herrera
Fellaini
McTominay
Mata
Lingard
Matic (OK, not sure about this one, but he played well last time out).
I think they would all be available as well.
Where does this nonsense about Pogba being our best midfielder this season come from? He's been consistently woeful and is obviously no longer interested in playing for us.this is a bit silly and sensationalist
Pogba has had his issues and you could question his desire in some games
he's clearly been our best midfielder this season and one of the few to have courage to try things and be ambitious
this Pogba/Mourinho situation reminds me of Hazard/Mourinho a few years ago
Well there's our eyes that are not clouded by Mourinho's words and the recent 2 matches. There's also whoscored if you're into that.Where does this nonsense about Pogba being our best midfielder this season come from? If, by way of a response, you're going to point to the Red Cafe match ratings, to be honest I don't pay much attention to them. I'm sure that they are not a great reflection on actual performances, and the scores reflect people's preferences for players in general (e.g. Matic played very well against Arsenal, but still got a score of less than 6 because he isn't greatly liked)..
I've based it on watching his performancesWhere does this nonsense about Pogba being our best midfielder this season come from? He's been consistently woeful and is obviously no longer interested in playing for us.

There is a degree of sympathy for Pogba which comes from the antipathy towards Mourinho (which I share by the way), which means he scores better than he deserves (or maybe we're just too embarrassed to admit our big money signing has been a flop).
The parallel with Hazard is misleading: he had already proved himself at Chelsea, so at least had a bit of credit in the bank. Pogba definitely hasn't proved himself at United, and his indifference has earned him absolutely no credit.
I should probably have added all the U18 midfielders to my list as well. If it's "a bit silly and sensationalist" to suggest that people who actually want to play for the club, and are willing to fit into the tactical scheme set out by the manager, are likely to perform better than self indulgent prima donnas who would rather be elsewhere, then I'm pleased to be both.
