Potential Pogba replacements

Pogba would be a bad fit for Barcelona. Real would be a better fit for him.

Sergej Milinkovic-Savic.

He is a proper United player. I could see Sir Alex buying him. Sell Pogba for 160m. But Savic for 100m and buy Perisic for 60m. We’ll be better for it.

Two of Fekir, Pjanic, Neves and Havertz would be great.

Depends on who we sell him to though, Pjanic could be used in a deal if it's Juventus. If it's Real then someone like Modric, Kroos or Casemiro. PSG, we could try and get Verratti and someone else in a different position.

SMS is a good choice too but could as easily be a flop as he could be a success.

Eriksen in the last year of his contract and Neves at Wolves. Where are you getting 250m from?
Eriksen is not going to cost less in total because of that fact. The only difference will be that he will pocket more himself instead of Spurs getting top dollar for him.

Lingard as a number 10 are you having a laugh?

Conveniently quoted me when he's out of form, but no, im not having a laugh.

He's been playing as a winger since the start of the season, and its clear to see, like Mata, the both are much better down the middle. Yes, he played as a 10 the other day, but we cant judge him off one game.

Lingard was arguably our most consistent player last season. His form dropped, and has continued to be bad since we moved to a 433, resulting in him moving to a right winger.

As a number 10 in a 4231, not only does he provide goals, but good off the ball movement, link up play and work rate.

He could easily do what Alli does for Spurs, in my opinion, and with good service, get us 15-20 league goals. He's an intelligent player.

Unfortunately, he's out of form and in a team who lack a manager who plays attacking football.

Having said that, I find it funny how you just picked Lingard from that team.

I wonder how much Ndombele and Fekir would cost us.

I'd be completely happy if we sold Pogba and bought Ndombele. Obviously I think Pogba is a great player on his day and do think he'll get that consistency eventually, if we could put a good attack ahead of him. But he's burning all his bridges at the moment, regardless of what happens with Jose. If Jose gets sacked then the fans gaze turns to Pogba immediately if this he's still here.

Only reading it today tbh , ya I picked lingard but easily could have picked young or Valencia if that’s your future 11 we ain’t going nowhere fast !

I want to see some pass masters personally. Something our team lack since Carrick retired. Jorginho looks a great buy from Chelsea and you can see he's already influencing how they play.
Nothing will change whilst our movement is static like it is now. Buy all the pass masters you want it won't make a difference. Pogba is a top passer himself and struggles with it. When Carrick was playing the movement of the strikers was great. Jorginho is working because of the style that Sarri has Chelsea playing with. I guarantee he would be flopping if he came to United.

I don't think Lingard is anywhere near good enough to be the #10/AM in a side with ambitions to win the PL and CL, but he's got the blue arse fly style of Oscar so while Mourinho is here, if Pogba goes, I'd bank on a 4-2-3-1 with Lingard in the hole behind Lukaku.

This. There’s a reason every one of our attackers look bad or out of form. Makes me laugh when people complain about Pogba holding onto the ball for too long. He barely has passing options ahead of him, so he has a choice of taking on his man or passing wide, which will generally end up with the ball then going back to a centre back anyway.

No its not my future 11. However, considering this thread is called 'Potential Pogba replacements', I thought it'd make sense to just put the Pogba replacement in my team.

There are not many players that can reach Pogba´s level when he is on his prime. The problem is that he is not consistent, sometimes he plays like he truly belongs to the very top and other days he´s just awful.

Right now we do not have another player besides Pogba that shows this glimpses of talent that´s why he is so loved here. But with his inconsistency I very much doubt he will be in the starting XI of the top clubs of the moment.

To replace Pogba there are many options. players like Eriksen, Fekir, Fornals, Ndombele, Neves, Saul, being honest Pogba hasn´t done much to be considered irreplaceable and while he may reach a top top level I´m not sure he will be able to do it here.

He has that I´m too good for this team" attitude, maybe playing in Barcelona where he feels that he has to earn a place he will work hard and keep his mouth shut.

I do miss some of the expansive passing we used to experience during the carrick-Scholes era. Neves would be perfect for that.

Neves has looked pretty good in England the last year (and now in the PL). He would provide a nice deep-lying pass master. To replace the attacking third creativity and probing, my first choice would be Eriksen - but we all know hard dealing with Levy is, so that's a non-starter. Somebody with Eriksen's skill set, though, would be my target.

No need to sign any one. Change the formation, add another attacker upfront, play 2 midfielder with Sanchez as SS, Martial as LW and Lukaku up top. Lingard can take the Right.

Exchange for Kroos or play Mata in his best position in a freerole and spend proceeds on a new striker.

Is Pogbas replacement going to have to play CB and try and make do with trying to hold on to 1 nil scorelines against championship sides at home?

1. Wolves already made it clear they will sell him only for 100m +

2. We are dealing with Spurs here - last year or not. And he has a contract until 2020.

Now you do the math

We need a leader. Someone to whip these boys into shape who loves the club and knows what United is all about. Unfortunately I'm not sure if that player exists...

The truth is, he has. It would take something special for those guys to hit for us, the heights Pogba have reached here.

Expansive sideways passing I guess? Or do you mean expansive passing to static attackers upfront?

Pogba is a very good player but we need to get rid. It’s nit much to replace him too. I don’t even think we’d need to dip into the transfer market. Although Neves would be nice. We have Perreira, Fred, Lingard who could play his AM position. With Lingard playing there it would free the right wing spot too, which would be the important signing we need to make.

Id say lets add someone like De Jong and move Sanchez as no 10 with Rashford as his cover. Martial would then move as LW and we can invest on actual wingers

Whoever we signed wouldnt be as good as Pogba can be at his best. And theres no guarantee that the new signing would do better than Pogba is doing in our current setup. But I'd go with Saul Niguez who is more of a Mourinho type player. Someone who can do the hard work, win the ball as well as pop up with an important goal in attack. He would be less creative than Pogba but again that sounds more like a Mourinho player to me.

Rather just get rid of Mourinho. He couldn't get the best out of all his signings, I doubt Saul would be any different. He'd be another player whose career we've stalled.

Don't think any player will do much good with this manager in charge. Yes Pogba should go, but so should Jose or nothing will change.

I think thats probably true, but under the circumstances of Mourinho staying it'd be Saul I'd choose.

I would keep serious eyes on Neves this year to see how he performs in the league (doing well so far ), and then he could be a serious Interest.

Yes, all the names I mentioned besides Eriksen and Saul are young guys yet to be proved.

But Pogba has not reach any unbeleivable heights here, the only game I can think is the one in the Eithad against city. Besides that game I can remember a truly world class performance from him.

But he has also failed in many matches, for me a player that is considered special and irreplaceable is one that proves his worth every game. Im talking about Messi, Ronaldo, Iniesta, KDB kind of level and consistency.

I know Pogba have always been 'a bit' inconsistent, but you have to consider the team he and those players play for. Any player playing in a very poor team is guaranteed to drop obvious inconsistent performances as he wouldn't have the pleasure of a very well drilled team to cover.
Stick any of those players in this team, and they will defo be inconsistent and will struggle to reach the height Pogba has reached here.
