Potential Pogba replacements

United won't let him go. Irreplaceable. If it does happen it'll take two to replace him - I'd go with Ndombele and Verratti.

I agree United won’t let him go, but not because he is irreplaceable. We sold CR7 to Real Madrid, and I am sure that’s a decision the Glazers rue to this day. They will do everything in their power to hold on to Pogba, specially if Madrid are after him.

The only player we should be asking in part exchange from madrid is Varane. Ask them to pay 80 m plus Varane. Get Umititti from Barcelona and sell Bailly. Center backs sorted. We can them splurge the cash on Ndombele/Neves and Declan Rice. Don't think Rabiot will come to united.

I think Coutinho could be a good replacement if Pogba goes to Madrid. But we must get Sancho as well as Rabiot on free and change formation to a 4-2-3-1.

CF - Rash
LW - Martial
AM(#10) - Coutinho
RW - Sancho
CM - Rabiot + Harrera

I genuinely believe this front six is stronger and more creative then what we have now with Pogba. Add a quality Right back and a CB, we could challenge for the title soon.

The latest Marca piece is from a reliable Journo in Diaz and I'm beginning to think he could be on his way to Madrid. I rate Pogba highly and will be very disappointed if he left, but would understand it from the players perspective if he did decide go to Madrid, because Madrid will be challenging for honours, whilst we will be playing second fiddle to Sheikh Mansour and Abu Dhabi.

I just hope we get a huge fee in return and actually spend it on some top quality players if he does leave.

Man Utd has the resources to compete for trophies, however they are not used properly for the past 7 years. Man Utd spent as much as Man city if not more in transfer fee in that period, and has higher wage bills. if Klopp can make Liverpool with way less resources to compete, there is no reason Man Utd can't. You need to get the structure right and hire the right manager for the job. Man City, Liverpool and Tottenham got it right, still early to tell for Arsenal, Chelsea and Man Utd.

If Pogba doesn't renew in the beginning of the summer just sell him before his market value drops due to length of contract.

The reason we had to spend so much was due to us not spending feck all for a number of years. We sold Ronaldo to Madrid for a world record sum and brought in Valencia, Obertan and Michael Owen. City signed Aguero, Silva, Toure, Kompany etc and all we heard was there was "no value in the market" and gave them a free run at those players. We lost two of our greatest defenders in Rio and Vidic and more or less replaced them with our squad players.

It's true we should've spent better, but under the Glazer ownership we will not consistently challenge City. Liverpool got lucky with constantly targeting players from Southampton but I don't think it will last.

Man Utd is the richest club in EPL and money does solve problem. You guys will back to challenge title eventually. For Pogba, like Pep said there are a lot of players in the world and no one is irreplaceable. Also don't build the team around an individual, build it based on a system, a philosophy (haha, he did say this). Man City has been playing extremely well even without KDB and Mendy almost the entire season. Who is the LB for Man City this season btw?

We're the richest club with owners who treat the club as a business to make money which is then split 6x. Our owners are happy with a top 4 spot, whilst City's owners want to be number 1, and just being in the top 4 isn't good enough. Big diffrence in mentality..

So who?

If Pogba is leaving , that would mean one of Modric,Kroos and Casemiro is out? Or they have some good youngsters as well.

Rabiot would also not join then. I would take Kroos from them or Rabiot on a free.

Would Kroos even want to come here?

Madrid have struggled this season but this would be a major step down for him considering the teams (not clubs) he has played in for most of his career.

Rabiot is just bad news. He's hardly the player to sign when you are complaining about player attitudes.

He has won everything and so could be up for a new challenge. Will be our key man in the midfield and wouldn't get better options than us.

Throw Asensio or Isco into the deal for Pogba, sign Ruben Neves with the remaining funds that were part of the Pogba deal and we're basically better off then having just Pogba. Go to a more technical midfield trio that can pass it around quickly and confidently.

Only Eriksen. In fact, all things considered (work rate, mentality, talent) I think he’d be a better option for us than Pogba.

Show Levy the cash and get him.
He is not coming without Martial going other way .

Isco wouldn't leave now since Zidane is back.

Asensio - again , whats his best position and is very inconsistent . Wouldnt want that player with our inconsistent forwards.

Neves - i am undecided on him. He has talent but has been vastly overrated . He is not pulling trees there and wouldn't come below 80m.

Remember we thought Liverpool letting Coutinho leave would be a mistake as he was such an integral part of their team.

€150m in the bank and spent on a top centre half who makes Matip look like great defender and a decent keeper and suddenly they clicked.

Perhaps for €150m we could sprinkle some strength across our team.

He could go to Italy like Ronaldo did. Juventus for example.

He could go to other English clubs. Zero guarantee that a new challenge means going to a struggling United.

Alternatively he could just stay put at Madrid. Younger than Modric and can actually play in the same midfield with a Pogba.

The CAF thought Coutinho had deficiencies with a great shot on him.

Just look at how we spend our money over the last few years. Plus with with Herrera leaving and Matic looking worse by the day we probably would need to spend more than that on just our midfield alone. Fellaini also left earlier this season so we seriously lack numbers as it is. Those all need to be replaced..

I do think Pogba leaving wouldnt be so bad for him though.

This, with the current predicament that we are in of probably going into next season not being able to challenge for the title, no ucl football and not exactly and enticing manager based on reputation, we dont want to be enticing players to the club on wages alone.

we need certain players with the correct qualities not only on the pitch but in their personality as well like say Silva or Aguero who were signed in the early days of man city's takeover but have stayed loyal to Man city and never made a fuss, especially Aguero who was constantly being benched only a season ago but instead of sulking or being happy to just pick up a cheque every week, he did what he had to do to play his way back into the team.

Juve - With Ramsey also coming in, another high earner ? Doubt it. Even if it happens, Pjanic could be available

Bayern - possible, could mean Thiago is available

Liverpool - misfit given their style of play.

City - not needed

PSG - means Verrati could be available.

You are ignoring that him staying at Madrid is very much a possibility.. And I mentioned why.

He's not coming here.

Very good point.

We need to start targeting the right sort of players against.

That's why I'm completely against signings like Bale or Rabiot.

I believe that things won't get better soon but we will turn things around. But we need to have a long term view to fix our problems.

With 3 years left on his contract I really can't see Paul leaving this summer tbh.

Pogba out and Eriksen in would strengthen us considerably! Give Martial to Spurs too while we're at it and we'll have a significant amount of cash to splurge on a top striker

Fernandes and Eriksen are two blindingly obvious candidates. Since Pogba came to United we have the following.

Pogba - 181 minutes per goal/assist
Eriksen - 132 minutes per goal/assist

In fact, I would say that Eriksen is flat out better than Paul Pogba in terms of performance because he can play as a genuine midfielder as well (Eriksen's passing from deep is exceptional).

Eriksen is having an off season and is still getting 25 goals and assists. Meanwhile Pogba is having a supposed sensational season and is on 27 goals and assists with 8 penalties.

Surely we can get enough cash from sales of Pogba and Lukaku to be able to afford Harry Kane. That's the kind of player we should build a team around.

Pogba is technically gifted with next to no work ethic. There's got to be good technical players out there to find a suitable replacement for the attacking midfield role.

We should try for Erikson and young Nordic, UK, Irish players who are good enough and regularly put in a shift. Sometimes foreigners just don't get our club. And we have lost that identity because the English core we have is crap. Liverpool based their resurgence on the hard workers, which created a hard working culture and then complimented them with the likes of Mane and Salah who came in knowing the effort required.

Fernandes is your up and coming attacking midfielder. Eriksen is your established attacking midfielder. Fernandes apparently has a very low release clause, get him in.

Wont be easy to replace what he brings going forward, but a lot easier to replace what he brings overall because whoever we sign will probably contribute more defensively.

Any two of Bruno, Eriksen & Doucoure and I'll consider us better off.

I worry about signing a no 10 because I don’t think our midfield has the right personnel to play that formation. You need 2 anchor men to really cover the whole midfield behind the front 4 or risk getting overrun as most teams will match up 3 against our 2 cms. We don’t even have 1 mobile midfielder let alone 2 who can basically defend and support the attack. We’d have to spend a lot of money to get in a midfield that can support a Coutinho in our line up.

If we lose Pogba I’d rather invest in a forward and play a 433 like Liverpool do where they don’t get as much creativity from midfield but give a lot of creative freedom to their attackers and expect less of them defensively.

Martial, Rashford and a Sancho for example could be great if you played to their strengths, give them tons of space on the counter or with a high press and they can thrive in my opinion.

Rice - Rabiot
Sancho--Fekir--Martial

Wouldn't be bad. I do worry about Rice's ability on the ball and so an established DM will help !

Bruno, Fred ,McT, Matic can be the back up options.

So you want us to buy Bruno (100mil € release clause) to bench him/or depth?
