Potential Pogba replacements

Why does so many on this forum keep mentioning Kovacic? What the feck has he done in the past couple of years to prove he could replace Pogba let alone even improve us as a team? He has been sitting on Reals bench doing feck all and all these people want him here, it's a little funny tbh.

It's amazing how easily United fans give up on their players and yet they cry on top of their lungs for players to play for the red shirt, give their all blah blah blah

No-one in their right mind wants to see Pogba forced out unwillingly, but if he wants out then I'd show him the door. I'm not going to reflect favourably or unfavourably on his time at United. He had a decent season with us, better than his harshest critics gave him credit for whilst not as great as his uber-fans will lead you to believe. A lot of it may be down to Mourinho but at the end of two-seasons he is still just potential in a United shirt. We have had better players leave and found a way to success. The likes of Liverpool may have found great chest-beating pleasure in keeping the likes of Coutinho around for an extra 6-months but I'd rather we simply fecked off anyone that didn't want to be here.

It's not about players that wants to leave or stay. It's about how quickly fans gives up on United players when they have not heard him say anything but mere speculation. 4years ago(I think), I was still at newbies. It was extremely seeing United fans accept their fate that DDG is leaving because we are helpless and powerless in front of the Great Real Madrid. Have some balls guys. This is not like Ronaldo situation. CR7 said he wanted to leave and SAF confirmed it. This is a case of speculation in the dailies and United fans auto accept defeat in front of the great Barcelona. I'm embarrassed as a United fan.

If Pogba goes then 4-3-3 goes with him, Jose will revert to 4-2-3-1 and so the 'replacement' will probably be a #10 or a wide right. Probably the latter because Jose likes Lingard at #10.

If Pogba genuinely wants out and Barcelona offer us £100m-£120m plus Dembele I think United should seriously consider it. Mourinho's done well rebuilding his side in the wake of selling a Raiola client: 2009-10 after selling Zlatan to Barca for Eto'o plus cash. Current circumstances aren't a million miles off that...

Totally agree with you on United supporters melting down about dailies speculating on a Pogba exit. You're right, there's nothing concrete at this stage. No argument from me there. However, I also think it's fine for posters to speculate on who we can get in to replace Pogba if he leaves. Nothing wrong with that either. Admittedly, now that you mention him, DDG is a perfect example of me being wrong about keeping on a player who want's to leave. He's certainly turned out alright for us. I guess there are good and bad examples of each. Post transfer request Rooney soured his standing within the club, whilst post transfer request DDG has become a fecking legend for us. :)

Anyone but Dembele.

People complain about Martial's attitude, but what Dembele did to Dortmund to force his move was a disgrace(AND he had a poor season at Barcelona regardless of his injury woes).

Yeah but Jose's tactics depend on having a bunch of pace on the flanks to transition fast from defence to attack. Dembele could play that role. Did it fine for Dortmund.

Dortmund's style isn't synonymous with how Jose sets his team up.

There's a huge question mark if he'd succeed here(and I imagine he wouldn't be thrilled with Barcelona flogging him off in this hypothetical deal).

The part of stealing the ball and breaking at pace is. Just that Dortmund prefer to press mistakes out of the opposition whereas Mourinho waits for concessions of possession and then breaks from a low block. For that pace is vital and Dembele has pace. He's served the same role for Deschamps, who sees the game very similarly to Mourinho, so I don't think he'd find it hard understanding what Jose wants.

That's still a big difference.

Deschamps does have similarities with Mourinho and Dembele didn't even feature for Deschamps at all when it mattered.

His talent is overrated IMO and his attitude is poor. I wouldn't want him.

For me this is the most ridiculous rumour I have heard this window. I find it very hard to believe Pogba would do this so late in the window.

For there to be any substance to this rumour a whole sequence of scenarios would have to have happened. Given that Pogba is a Jose signing there would need to have been a major falling out between the two of them.

How could Jose fall out with one of his own signings so quickly?

There are fans at every club who melt at the first hint of a rumour. I think the whole story stinks of the medias 3 years and out anti-Jose narrative.

To a degree I’m with you but he has now had 5 windows to sort the defence out Bailey got injured and then explicably fell out of favour and Lindelof has hardly had a decent run at all ( both of them 30m plus )
Almost everyone agreed that priority for this window was 2 top class full backs / wing backs and once again we are likely to start with Valencia and young as first choices which is quite frankly a bloody joke.
And of course we are now prioritising a centre half even though he himself has brought 2 in

He’s had 5 windows to sort it? I don’t understand that line. Is Jose meant to sort it with his own salary? Jose submitted 5 names to Woodward, Woodward blatantly refused to sign the players on the list. How’s that Jose’s fault?

I have no doubt in my mind that Woodward’s penny-pinching has hampered Jose. Woodward will rather sign sponsors than sign quality players. Jose looks moody in the pressers because his needs aren’t been met.

Pogba isn't going anywhere. Why the heck we sell him with a day left in the window? This leave us no time to find a replacement in time. I think SMS price will double if we go for him in the last day of the window.

None are similar to Pogba. He'd be pretty damn hard to replace unfortunately. The fact he is so well balanced makes him a unique midfielder. On a good day, he doesn't really have any weaknesses.
How often are the good days though?

Honestly I think he’s an immense talent but at times Mark Noble would do the job replacing him. He hasn’t cut it yet properly in a United shirt and I can’t understand why he gets a free pass.

Completely agree, DembeWho? is the most overrated player since Pastore. Achieved mere 8 goals for Dortmund in all competitions, Barcelona got scammed into buying him, didn’t feature for France at all, and people here speak of him as Jesus second coming!

Add his attitude, you complain about Martial but DembeWho? Has a worst attitude than Mky and Januzaj our together.

Back to topic, Pogba ain’t leaving. He has a deep connection with United and wants to lead the club to a new era of success. He won’t go and play second fiddle to Messi in that team full of actors and cheaters.

Replace Pogba? This goes to show the quality of thought in RedCafe. What club would pay over 100m to buy him based on his form?

He ain't leaving and he will improve.

I've read some stories which suggest that 'reports in Italy' say he wants to leave united. That Italian article above is using the Sunday express as a source though. Does anyone have any quotes from himself or anyone close to him that he wants to leave United with a Juve return in mind?

Fwiw I think we will offer him close to Sanchez wages if not equal and he will sign a new contract. Mourinho being sacked before Pogba is let go.

Depends whether it is true or not, which I wouldn't be surprised if it was. Woodward & the directors would be very reluctant to let him go, which I think makes Mourinho's position even more precarious. They may well think that if a new manager came in with a different philosophy, Pogba & others would be willing to stay. If that is what they want, with the actions of Woodward wouldn't be too surprising, Mourinho's managerial career here might only have days left.

Jose is going if we don't make top 4 and with the current form, we will be lucky to make top 6.

Means a new manager is in by end of season and anything can happen.

Yes good luck with hoping Pogba sticking around with this no CL club that has to rebuild.

If we end up like you said Pogba is gone.

We'd offer him a new contract with astronomical wages and he'll probably stay
This is the club where he will always earn the biggest paycheck for his level, absolutely.
This is the club that offers him the greatest fan backing, instagram followers and attention. That's what the new generation of players want, money, attention and drama.

Does anyone think that he'll go from a place where he can do whatever the fek he wants to Barca where he will be just another guy? It would be a risky one for him to go to either RM or Barca.

I think one day that yes, if we arent in contention then he'll move on to a club thats likely to win the champions league. But in the meantime money will hold him over. And I dont think that just about Pogba, but a lot of high profile players like him. Some others will genuinely just want to be in a top team looking to win big prizes and the money is more of a secondary factor - but I think those players are a small number compared to the amount that claim they are that way and really, money would change their mind.

So we're the moneybags club now. How things have changed.

Pep or money?

Yes we're one of the moneybags clubs

Better hope so, because we have nothing else to attract players.

And we'd better get Ed to realise this and start releasing the cash to get Alderweireld.

No, he made the right choice not to bend over for a 29 year old CB. We're a moneybags club but we wont be forever if we spend poorly.

Bump !

Changing my mind - Rakitic is getting old and we really need to stop getting rejects from other clubs.

Eriksen is still my choice with some young options coming in - like Dejong or the dude from Lyon.

I would play Fred or Pereira in a two with Matic, then sign an attacking midfielder or winger depending on how sanchez is used
