A part of me is pissed we lost today, but then I remind myself it's been the story of our season so far. We're capable of the occasional decent game at home, but we're absolutely pointless away from home. In the league we've played 15 games - 5 wins, 4 draws and 6 defeats with a goal difference of -2 (18-20). That's beyond embarrassing, but it's also completely deserved given the way we "play". The only away game in Europe that we won was against the atrocious Brugges side in the qualifiers and then drew at CSKA and lost at PSV, Wolfsburg and even fecking Midtjylland.
It's down to Van Gaal's idiotic tactics that are way too pragmatic for our trips and backfire time and time again, yet he hasn't learnt his lesson. He just doesn't get the Premier League at all. The fact that he kept Carrick on the pitch for the full 90 minutes speaks volumes and don't even get me started on Blind.
I think our only shot on target was the Martial shot in the 2 or 3rd minute. Somehow we found a way to be even shitter with 10 men and weren't even close to creating a goalscoring chance apart from the lucky deflection that led to Rashford's shot. There are other teams that are even turning games around with 10 men, but we're incapable of that.
I knew we weren't winning this once Mata got sent off, but even before his dismissal, we were shit. To be fair, I was thinking we could win the game prior to the dismissal mostly because of wishful thinking. I wrote a preview for the game for a website this morning and when I had a look at the stats/recent form etc., I realised just how fecking pointless we are. We had only won one of our last 6 away games in the league and that was against Liverpool where I still don't know how we managed to pull off the win.
