Bruno ran his socks off in the game. The pitch was terrible which made it difficult to play.

Mount and Rasmus must come out of that with huge brownie points with Amorim. They made an impact off the bench and then some. Also thought Antony looks neat off the bench.
Rashford - take £20-£30m and get him off the books, the regression in his game is staggering
TBH 20-30p would be good enough now

We're an average side. Good win. Hopefully we can get through the group stage and the manager can somehow build a performing side to challenge for the cup in the new year.

First game I’ve missed in years, how did we do? Just seen their first goal. Terrible.
Just created nothing, so slow to attack.

Had some good chances and even outnumbered them at the back a few times late in the 2nd half but really poor decision making.

Rashford and Zirkzee, need to be rested. And then loaned off or sold. Rashford is done and Zirkzee won't provide anything, especially in the Premier League. He's too slow on the ball.

Deserved win for United. Bar another error from Onana (see Forest) it’s a comfortable 0-2 away from home in Europe.

Second half much better than the first, Amorim learning more about his squad and Hojlund with another superb strike.

Amad and Mazraoui are consistently really good, Mount looks important to the system and Ugarte is key in the middle.

Wide areas were always going to be the problem in this set up and I suspect we will focus recruiting here.

Not Mounts biggest fan but he had an impact when he came on and should have probably scored.

Thought Casemiro was pretty decent tonight and showed he can still do a job.

Rashford was a waste of space and provided zero effort to go with it. Should not be playing for this team. Zirkzee was for the most part shit, but didn't lack for effort, he just doesn't appear to be very good.

Bruno was his usual self mostly crap, with a few nice passes and glimpses of quality here and there. Why the hell he takes most of our dead balls is beyond me. he usually never clears his first man and he is an awful free kick / corner taker. Probably the worst in the league at it for someone who is supposed to be a specialist.

Malacia is not good enough and is a nothing player.

Mount changed the game and gave us energy and bite further up the pitch but missed chances he should be putting away at this level. I give him a pass because he tried hard and made us wake up from the slumber we were in for the first 60 minutes.

Antony came on and for his first 2 touches seemingly was unable to control the ball but then seemed to put together a reasonable partnership with Amad that made us quite threatening down that side.

Garnacho came on and didn't look that bothered and made some lackadaisical back passes that almost got us into trouble. Doesn't seem to like this system.

Best players were Hojlund and Amad, the former with a nice couple of goals and at least trying to get in the end of the various crosses served up. The latter are only real quality in attack.

The less said about Onana the better.

What a game. I wanted to write something about how terrible it all was but if I consider for a moment, I guess there’s also some positives.

I mean I know it’s only Plzen and that the performance of several individual players was atrocious, but I think as a team it wasn’t totally terrible.
We clearly dominated the game and were defensively composed for large part of it. Their goal was only possible thanks to an individual error.

Also, some players were decent. I’m thinking Mazraoui, De Ligt, Bruno, Diallo, Mount, Hojlund and Malacia.

Malacia wasn’t much of a threat going forward, but he barely got the chance as Martinez completely ignored him for the full time he was on. Defense was composed.

Hojlund almost F’ed up his first goal, then missed that opportunity which my grandma would have scored, but his second goal was actually quality

Mount messed up one big opportunity but at least he was active and putting in effort, and overall contributing to our attacking play

Some absolute garbage performances too.
I’ve often defended Zirk, but today was next level disastrous. The simplest touches he kept screwing up.
Rashford was rashford and Onana no need to go into.

And again we make such absolutely trainable mistakes. Awful corners. 3v1 on 2 occasions where we end up completely overlooking the totally free player

Points in the bag, but plenty to work on, to say the least

I thought Mount changed the game for us, much more urgency and intensity, and that spread throughout the team. Decent 2nd half performance.

Rashford and Zirkzee need benching for the foreseeable.

Is it really? The issue with these players is their lack of consistency. While the substitutes may have looked sharp today, these are the same players who have started in previous matches and failed to deliver at the same level. It’s a recurring problem.

I think so. I'd say the biggest question marks are currently over who plays the wing backs, but I would personally pick something like this for most games:

Hojlund

Mount Amad

Shaw Ugarte Bruno Dalot

Martinez De Light Mazraoui

Onana

It's not to say I think they are good enough long term, I just think they offer the closest to what Amorim wants right now.

Hilarious how often we mess up chances. 3 on 1, you never actually expect us to score do you?

Much needed win.

- Sell Rashford, Zirkzee!
- Worried of a city backlash on the weekend
- keep Højlund injury free
- Mount will come good if stays injury free.
- we need an alternative to Dalot

Shaw hasn’t played a single minute at left wing, so it’s impossible to say how he’ll perform in that role.

As for Dalot, I just don’t think he’s good enough. It feels like he’s got a higher opinion of his abilities than what he actually shows on the pitch.

Mount and Højlund are a bit hit or miss at the moment. Højlund is a necessity right now due to limited options, but Mount often goes missing for long stretches in games, with very little impact.

That said, if they get a consistent run of games together, hopefully they can start building some chemistry, which will lead to more cohesive and improved performances overall.

Shaw played LWB for England

Mount and Hojlund made all the difference when they came on.
Antony did too for a short while, before becoming his usual ineffective self.

With the fixture congestion, it made sense to play Casemiro, but he needed replacing at the right time. Ugarte must start on Sunday.

I wouldn’t even have Rashford on the bench for the next game.
He’s clearly not taking the opportunity to try and turn around his dismal performances, in front of the new manager. Useless and not interested.

Zirkzee is just too slow and certainly struggles with hold up play when under physical pressure. Having a shite strike partner tonight, in Rashford, didn’t help his cause.

Bring on Rangers. Cautiously confident of an easy win against them. Third in a two team league and never great away from home in Europe...

Is fortuitous a better word?

How was it lucky or fortuitous? They had one big chance in the game and they scored on it. The chance was entirely self inflicted from us.

We scored 2. The "lucky" free kick that led to the second goal was a clear handball. Our players wasted a ton of chances to put the game away including missing a 3 on 1. I can't share images but please see stats in below link (remove spaces before comments) and reconsider which team was lucky

Should play Mount as much as possible in this system. Works so hard without the ball and can play pretty well. Really unlucky in his finishing whilst at United.

The pitch was shocking and the ref weird. Take the 3 points and run. Not going to be a fun few weeks in december with the games that are coming up i'm afraid.

So glad we finally won an away game in Europe.

Gotta admit I thought Plzen were a bit naive with their tactics. Standing off and not really pressing tight helped us and we still almost made a mess of the game. A midfield two of Bruno and Casemiro were there for the taking for second balls and counters in transition.

We'll make a pigs ear of it .... they'll be up for it and we'll probably sneak it in the end

Bruno dead ball lead to second goal. Malacia is improving every match.

Poor performance again, fortunately Amorim substituted the two clowns (Rash, Zirkzee) just in time. What a bunch of useless players. OMG.

Lack of movement and making runs behind defence non existent, there was especially one instance where Rasmus drags defender wide and big gap opens up in the middle of defence and I think it was Bruno who just stands and does make a run into it, just one example. Rashi, zz provided rest for the others I guess as that’s what they seem to be good for in this period of time

I think as a team, our weakness in recruitment has been getting the athletic profile to deal with the rigours of the premier league. If we want to control games in and out of possession, I think this, even more than technical ability is paramount.

I think Hojlund, Amad, Bruno, Ugarte, De Ligt, Mazraoui, Onana and Yoro have proven that they can successfully play in this current team at a starting level. We also hope to see growth and adaptability from Mainoo and Lisandro over time. Shaw and Mount have been too injury prone to trust 100%, but can be effective members of the squad. Dalot would also be a good squad player, but he doesn't have the intelligence to be a starting player consistently for us. He may have beaten AWB, but they're battle was a relatively close race. AWB is currently an average player at West Ham, so that should tell you something about Dalot's value.

Outside of the players listed and youth players like Collyer, I think United should be willing to let go of other members of the squad. At a minimum, they don't have the athletic profile that our system may require. At worst, they aren't good enough to be a part of a team trying to challenge for the league and champions league.

In regard to specifics, a right wing back and left wing back, who can cover ground on the flanks, and allow Amad play in one of the no.10 roles. If Amorim plans to continue to use Amad on the right flank, then signing a Grealish-like no.10 would be the best. Someone who can turn, but can also dribble into tight space. I would also look to sign an energetic CM, who can play as an 8 or a 6. I believe Mainoo if given the chance, may be able to shine in one of the 10 roles in certain games, having a squad regular with energy that can support the team in multiple areas would be fantastic. a modern Nicky Butt.

First goal took a rather lucky deflection into Hojlunds path, freekick was 50/50 for me he only handles it because Mazraoui pulls his hand down and knocked him off balance, it hit his shoulder then his hand, so it could have been given either way.

It's easy to just look at the stats and say Utd totally dominated, they were wasteful, gave away a shit goal and scored 2 goals that had elements of luck to them. Maybe on another night Rashford might have saw red for his tackle before he was subbed.

In the end when you add it all up, they were shite in the first half, dominated the second without really being too threatening. Deserved to win, but in the end I think were quite lucky to come out with a 2-1 win.

Agree with all of this
