Inappropriate Behavior
It can never ever be understated how much the Glazers have fecked us over , I absolutely despise their very being and hope they feck off and die tomorrow.. using us as a personal ATM for years has led to us this point and I feel so sorry for Ruben, this team is simply embarrassing and I can’t see it getting any better as our finances are in a even worse position than the team on the pitch, if the three promoted teams had anything about them then we would be properly fecked,..

Yes. Me and 3000 others are currently travelling back from Tottenham on a Sunday night and expect to see a competent football team.

Playing 343 when you only have this group of players available is absolutely insane.
Yeah, that's fair - but I hope you still had a good time regardless.

The forwards are as poor as those around us. Absolutely.

On the forwards I actually agree in this case (although Rasmus last season was decent). However, you take a confident Dalot, Maguire, De Ligt, Mainoo, Ugarte, Bruno, Garnacho, Amad and Mazraoui, offer them for free and on sensible wages to the league they'd probably start for a lot of teams outside of the top 4/5. In a good tactic is Maguire worse than a Lewis Dunk or Dan Burn, is Dalot worse than Trippier, Wan Bissaka, etc. Put those players into the majority of teams not in the top 4/5 and they probably start as we have seen with Wan Bissaka, heck Elanga was deemed not good enough for us. This is clearly not a squad capable of challenging for the league and not for the top 4. However, this is not a 15th place squad neither. Saying Amorim should be getting better out of them does not equate to saying these players are all man united quality. Getting better out of these players is having the team in the top half at least.

By far and away our biggest problem is that we have no players who can consistently score goals. It's been like this for years now with only a few stopgap solutions (Cavani, Ronaldo, Rashford scoring at an unsustainable rate in ETH's first season). Now that Amad is injured we genuinely have no one I would trust to put the ball in the net.

Considering that, what more do you want the manager to do? Its not as if we didn't make chances, certainly enough to at least draw. This frontline of Hojlund, Garnacho and Zirkzee is all we have until the end of the season. I don't care how good Amorim is, no one is getting those lot scoring regularly. Can't wait for the season to be over.

I was happy with second half. We keep that level of commitment with players back we'll be alright.
We'll be alright? As in we'll be alright we wont get relegated? As in we'll be alright in mid table mediocracy?

What has happened to our club?? We used to 'be alright' by qualifying for the CL in 3rd or 4th.

How can we be happy with the second half of that performance? We were playing a terrible Spurs team - TERRIBLE! Some of the football was so poor from both teams. Granted it was entertaining because it was so comical.

I can't believe fans are happy with anything about our once great club at the moment. It's an utter shambles.

Ange was a bit cocky when asked if he has sympathy for Amorim. Hope they lose there next games.

Relegation is a real possibility now. We cant win against sides who have been struggling. Not sure from where we will get 12 points to go above 40
I wouldn't have thought so, still 10 points ahead of the 4th bottom side. As bad as we are, I don't think relegation is likely. Its not like we don't win, we just don't win very often. Crucially though, we appear to win more than a few other sides (literally a few).

So what formation and line up would you have put out today?

A top striker and we paper over the cracks and win today. Playing Bruno and Casemiro in midfild and there is a big hole 20 yards wide. Bruno cant play a midfield role, too indiscplined. Amorim should have seen this at half time and sacrificed perhaps Garnacho or Hojlund for a kid who could have been the legs for Casemiro, in the second half.

Everyone criticising the manager for not bringing on the young players. This doesn’t make sense. You don’t bring these young players into the game when the team is not right on the pitch. You’ll kill them before they start. Putting them in, whilst the team can’t string passes will kill their confidence. You ease them in, minute by minute. I think Chido, Kone, Heaven, will be in the first team squad weekly, by the end of this season.

I could care less what the likes of you believe frankly. Every season we have the chicken little gang out in full force assuming everyone is like them and MUST believe the damned sky is falling. Every season they are wrong.

Yeah I didn’t phrase it well as they are indeed better this season. We shouldn’t be 15th but we are basically part of the pack now and in terms of the quality of our players.

If you made a combined 11 between us and a mid table team like Palace, they have at least 4 players in it, maybe more. That would have been unthinkable even post SAF but it’s our reality now.
Agreed, it’s worrying given the financial mess. We will have to sell to buy, makes the January rumours about selling Mainoo and Garnacho more believable.

Agree the back three and Ugarte are way better than our current position.

But that's how important goals are in the game. You can have a solid back line. The back three today were good, no problems with them really. But we still lost to a poor team.

An U21's forward line with no record of goals and a really rubbish goalkeeper. The league will be tough.

Oh there was a moment. About 5-10 minutes from the end, Dorgu, nice easy cross…..spoons it into next week….I thought, he’s been watching Dalot in training!
Yep, starting to look like pinning any hopes on Dorgu is going to be foolish. That cross you're talking about, it's like someone who never uses their weaker foot just giving it a hopeful lump before falling over in a heap -- but he's meant to be left-footed, isn't he? Made Dalot look like peak Ezra.

Spoiler: next season it's going to be most of these same players, so what makes you think Amorim will do anything of note then?

And specifically what a manager can do during a match is identify what's not coming off, and then adjusting tactics, shifting personnel, switching the flanks, telling them to change the tempo, and even making subs before the 91st minute.

Right because a game and a half in these circumstances is absolutely a reasonable barometer by which to measure the worth of a new player…

Fair enough, it was nothing personal - just frustation that people have accepted and happy with the current situation...

BUT from where we at the end of Sir Alex to where we are now, the sky has very much fallen I'm afraid. I'm not sure anyone can dispute that. Although maybe you will still continue to think 'we'll be alright'. Sadly we're a mid table team now, if that's alright with you - fair enough.

Is this his first game of football? Do they play with a differently shaped field in his previous league? Give it a rest.

Amazed at the amount of people saying we played well or being positive about today. It was dire. The level of expectation has fell off a cliff

We played well enough to get something more than a loss. That doesn't mean we played well.

I'm sure you can see the difference?

Spurs were mostly awful. I'd not be shocked to see them lose most of their remaining games this season

We are now in 15th place.
I can't believe that deep into the season, we are so low down the table.

There is an obvious answer as to why Amorim didn't bring on any subs, but feck me.....would rather watch a few of the youngsters get a decent chance than watch that shit show of a performance.

Yeah we had nothing to lose trying it

25 games in and feckin Everton football club is higher than us in the league table. Let that sink in.

I thought Zirkzee looked good. Too bad he missed that header.

Maz, Zirkzee, Hojlund, Maguire, Dorgu did well.

Casemiro and Onana abysmal.

De Ligt - poor and maybe had a part to play in their goal.

Bruno - good in parts and bad in others

Garnacho - seems to have forgotten how to finish.

Dalot - frustrating offensively but works hard otherwise.

Tottenham were there for the taking and we should have come away with something.
Bruno and Cas were awful in central midfield. And of course, we had the usual problem with scoring, although at least we created chances.

Ralf was right; we needed total rebuild but no one wanted to hear it.

We won't even compete for CL for 2 seasons, club is adrift, worse state than pool was, at least they were going deep in Europe.
We did a total rebuild. Spent 600m+ and got 15+ players under ETH.

It was cowardly to not give youngsters a real chance. We are out of players. Only 12 remaining senior players and there is no reason why we won't have more injuries. The time to go soft and be all like "need to protect youngsters" is over. We have to bring them in, there is nothing else left to do. And better to start doing it now, for last 15-20 minutes, than when we have to start them because there's literally nobody left to play.

Amorim was wrong to make zero subs, and no - Obi-Martin for 3 minutes of overtime does not count

Agreed.

We played poor but even worse …… I see no reason to be optimistic about the remainder of this season and next year.

True. This squad is definitely better than the table suggests. However a combination of demanding tactics, low confidence and bad individual form is what has resulted in where we are right now. Everyone to be blamed.

That's the best we can hope for this season though. Nothing wrong with that. Just need to get to the summer, rest and refresh. We've said this multiple times over the last decade but here's hoping it's different this time with the new management and a coach who has a plan.
