We're a better side away from home which is the hope I have that we can reach top 4.
We've won every away game bar Stoke since losing to Chelsea.

Decent performance, sunderland are shite though and we probably couldve had about 5 if we took care with our final ball. Glad rashford finally got a goal

Good performance. Some questionable defending but overall it was a good performance. Happy to see Rashford scoring.

I'm not going to quote stats as stats can lie. But on the basis of what I saw with my own eyes, that was awful. 3-0 looks great on paper and it'll be forgotten in the future but, we have some serious problems. If that had been Chelsea or any other of the top 6 playing THAT Sunderland, it would have been a cricket score.

So little creativity in the final third and ponderous in the build up.

I'm watching Mkhitaryan and he seems a completely different player to the one who we signed which is much the same story with every player we sign. They come in, look great for a few games then forget how they used to play football.

And it's not Jose, there have been many examples in the period since Fergie, Di Maria under lvg, even Fellaini under Moyes. I used to hate playing him, he looks a shadow of his former self.
Yeah agree with that. A lot of burying heads in sand but like you I'm not gonna pretend I'm jumping for joy after that. I don't even think mourinho will be happy with it.

José :D

Just watched this mini EFL cup final between United and Soton after the match on Sky Sports and enjoyed it more than our 1st team games.

We should have had 5 or 6

I think its been a common occurence this season after every match. We should have scored 5 or 6.

Ill definately settle for 3 and the clean sheet today. But it just goes to prove that the football has improved. Its the players that need to finish and score.

The bottom line is they made it easy for us with their tactics.

They should have had 12 men behind the ball and hung on for a point.

The game was won in the 46th minute. We played the rest of it in first gear. No complaints considering the schedule coming up.

0-3 away to anyone isn't to be scoffed at.

I do agree.
I remember when Di Maria first arrived, it was a like carnival atmosphere. Lesser teams were being put to the sword with ease.
Even that game we lost to LCFC 5-3, we were 3-1 up, inside 60 minutes...then we fell apart.
Even when Pogba first arrived, his first game. It was a Friday night and he was running around like a rabid animal. I was ecstatic after watching that game.
Darmian was fabulous as our RB for the first few games, then turned to junk.
Miki joined us as the Bundesliga players of the year - and now he is not playing anything like a player of the year.
Shaw was Southampton's best player. He joined us and immediately missed the first season because he was not fit enough to play. Too fat, apparently.

This decline in player performances, after a few good games, has happened with several of our incoming players.

Ok

Well anyway I could pick pretty much any random page in the match day thread and find something far worse and more damning

But for you I will re word my post and say it was a very forgettable win

Better?
Yeah a forgettable win is about right.

Lots of positives, though. Shaw, Zlatan, Rashford scored, Mkhi scored, clean sheet, Romero did well.

Great result. Shaw proving himself, Rashford gets himself a goal. Couldn't have asked for much more.

You say Sunderland used the wrong tactics. They had Moyes in charge. What did you expect?

MUTV latest on De Gea
They say he is out injured with a hip problem.

They were there for the taking

It shou have been a day to go for more goals

I understand people are saying but we have two months left, just give everything to get in that top 4. Can't just rely on winning the europa

Potential banana skin avoided, shooting boots rediscovered.

A nice confidence booster from which we can hopefully fight until the end of the season.

3 points job done. Final ball terrible at times today but we've not been able to take any win for granted lately so happy we got the result ahead of another important week.

Wasteful in attack again despite scoring 3. Really need to improve if we're going to have a chance of winning the Europa to salvage something from this season.

Agreed. The three points aside, I saw little today to suggest we won't struggle going forward.

Tbh we played better against WBA and Everton than we did today. SAFC are so bad that we should have scored more than 3 goals

I do agree.

It is rather irksome that so many of our signings in recent years have flattered to deceive despite showing so much at their previous clubs. We've developed quite a tentative playing style which limits 'flair' players having a significant impact. It's no wonder the likes of Valencia and Lingard are thriving in our current set up (not that Valencia isn't a great player, it's just rather telling that he has been our standout performer). Martial was explosive last season, at the moment he's really playing within himself.

I would say that we are looking increasingly less shackled though in my opinion and we're starting to see some nice one-two's in and around the box. Pogba can be frustrating but he is really good at those quick, incisive passes that often lead to dangerous attacks.

3 quality goals. Great to see.

Ibra just oozes class in almost everything he does, we simply must tie him up for next season. Shaw look good, used his pace well and got forward as often as possible, hope it continues. Shaw (potential fully realized) and Valencia at full-back gives me a lot of hope. Romero looked comfortable as well. Pogba... Meh.

Sunderland defensively were diabolical

Sunderland are beyond dire, but it was almost a relief to win the game by a decent margin. Red card was maybe a bit harsh, looking at it from different angles it looked more a yellow maybe, he did go over the ball, but I think the ref has given it for intent rather than anything else. Not sure how much contact he actually made with Herrera. Moyes has a perfect excuse for losing in the red card rather than a dire performance from his Championship-bound team, whose only real bright spot is Defoe.

Happy with the win. We played an okay game, could've been better but once we had a firm grasp over the game, we didn't need to really exert ourselves. Great to see Shaw starting, apart from the one moment of ill-discipline in the 1st half which led to the booking, he had a very effective game. Rashford scoring was a plus too and hope he will get more over the next few games.

Red card was on odd decision and was probably a booking instead but Larsson shouldn't be going in flying with his challenge over the top of the ball anyway. Gave the referee the chance to make the decision.

Big games until the end now and with EL being so important, we will have to find another gear for Thursday's match. Anderlecht won't be easy, so we will need to be at our best.

Glad we won. Could've had more goals, but that's been the story of our season. I'm happy we at least got 3. We also played decent but Sunderland made it easy for us.

I can see both sides to it - something people forget that you're allowed to do on here. On one hand, we scored a reasonable amount of goals and got the points, on the other we demonstrated our poor football and the reason we're in this mess a few times too.

The former is the most important thing today, but the latter is the issue in the bigger picture.

On to the next one. At the end of the day today will be recorded as 3 pts, 3 goals for and 0 against. And that's what will count.

So I'm happy. Bring on Anderlecht!

We are just so disjointed, every game feels like the first time a lot fo our players are meeting each other...

Good points.

After a tonne of home draws, a lot where we score 0 or 1, I don't think anyone can moan at a 3-0 away win!

Yes they were rubbish, but so have most of the teams we've drawn too been.

Ideal game pre Anderlecht. Couple of players could sit out with niggles, and the rest cruised it in 1st gear.

They'll be fresh for Thursday now.

Great result, perfectly decent performance. We were in control all game and managed to win comfortably.

Really good win. The game was over as a contest after the red card though, and you could see the players losing a bit of focus.

But 0-3 looks good in any book. I'm so happy Rashford finally got his goal! We played amazingly well at times
