Mou: "I've sat in this chair twice before, with Porto - Man Utd out, with Real Madrid - Man Utd out, so this is nothing new for this football club." #MUFC

What the hell

He is just saying Manchester United do get knocked out of the CL now and again. However not tonight they shouldn't. He has managed to knock us out three times now it appears. Well done Jose.

C'mon guys.... no reason for panicking after going out from Champions League against Sevilla

They're one of the best teams in LaLiga and would definitely be a contester for a top 4 spot in Premier League.

It's not like the club were eliminated against fecking APOEL.

It's not about going out of champions league ..It's about how we went out !

Most important game of the season and we bottle it !!! If we fight from start and lose 3-2 it should have been acceptable but not waited last few days to watch this dross !!!

Bullshit. They wouldn’t even be close to top four in England, forget about it. They are even worse than Arsenal.

Why?! He was absolute shite.

He was played out of position after playing really well on the left in the previous game - meanwhile his replacement played terribly. Any momentum he may have had is now lost.

I didn't say he was a poor player. He does look low on confidence, which Jose must see in training because his mindset won't suddenly change. Why bring him on if his head isn't right? It makes no sense. He was literally shanking easy passes to feet out of play.

I don't think I'm overreacting by saying it was one of the worst OT performances I've ever seen.

It's definitely the worst performance I've seen since that moyes led fulham game with all the crosses.. Especially given what was at stake.
Pogba doesn't look like he wants to be at OT anymore either.

Doubt it.

You have to be good enough to do that.

We were just beaten by a better side than us.
Actually that's the annoying thing, man for man almost none of their players would make our starting 11. We've got a lot of stars would would be their best player by a mile. They played better for sure, but they were still poor for a CL side, we were just somehow worse.

Level of disrespect toward Sevilla is concerning here. Spanish league has proven in past 4-5 years that they are better than English league. Sevilla is 5th over there and they do deserve some respect. However, we can't be freaking losing at home to anyone! To anyone! We were dominated in both shots on and off target.

We played the same way versus Celta Vigo last year. And were very close to going out. Same cowardly shit, different outcome.

This was doubly disappointing as Sevilla were atrocious - but we were somehow worse.

I wouldn't take a single player off Sevilla, not one of them is fit to wear the United jersey, but we were scared of them somehow and didn't seem to want to attack - and when we did most of our passes went from defence straight to their midfield. Think of how many times we gave the ball away sloppily for an EASY pass.

Only players that can maybe hold their heads high are Rashford, Lukaku and Bailly. Sanchez had one of the worst games I've ever seen a Manchester United player play and somehow stayed on the full 90.

The worst thing about it is I wasn't surprised, and I'm not even massively annoyed. We deserved to go out after the first leg and we did.

Yeah me too. I think the players are just not turning up but like you, my opinion on Mourinho is changing. That's why I want to see what he's going to do next season before going full LvG mode!

We wouldn't have gone past the next round anyway, which is probably why I'm not as upset as I should be.

The thing that gets me the most, and it was the same in the Palace game, is how quickly the mindset changed when they went behind. When they actually go out and play football they can play. It doesn’t need to be 90 minutes of throwing the kitchen sink at teams but when they want to turn it on they can. Tonight they danced about for 80 minutes doing sod all and when they decided they could be arsed it was too late. Performances don’t just change like that, they’re clearly being told to sit back and I don’t know why.

It was up there with Milan away second leg in 2007 as the worst I've witnessed in the CL knockout stage. At least Milan was a great side though granted aging and there for the taking that night.

At least an amazing Kaka dismantled us that night, tonight we just sat on our hands waiting for Sevilla to inevitably find a way past De Gea. Completely outplayed tonight, no complaints.

Are those comments from José legit?

Been saying for a while, we can't be playing inexperienced players in big games like this. Mata should have started over Rashford, and honestly, Martial should have started on the left, and Sanchez through the middle. Lingard should have no played. Offers absolutely nothing, and cut that smart runs crap.

We put ourselves in this position going so defensive in Spain.

Played like we were afraid to lose instead of wanting to win.

Why the feck we keep playing fellaini.

This one is all on Jose for me. Very very poor today.

Surely this has to be on a par with Moyes's, 'We need to aim to play like City.' comment...

Yes, hard to blame Pogba and Sanchez. Focus is sharply on Jose now.

I agree that the focus falls on Jose but Pogba was an absolute disgrace, he may have been a success at Juve but he is not cut out for us. I was as excited as everyone else when we signed him but enough is enough we should try and move him on to someone else.
As for Jose I'm at the end of my tether when will he learn that playing so defensively in a game that we have to win with no away goal from the 1st leg is a recipe for disaster.
At half time I text my sons and said we are going out I thought by away goal but it proved to be even worse than that .
Setting up with Fellaini was beyond a joke the tactic being punt the ball up to him and hope we get a knock down from him dear god how far we have fallen.
I hated LVG with a passion but have never been more angry after a match than I am tonight .A fantastic opportunity to progress into the last 8 has been thrown away by a negative minded performance and an inept bunch of player, sanchez once again running around like a headless chicken , Pogba looking uninterested ( why should he care he will still get his 250k paid on Friday ).
An aging right winger at left back and the same at right back, Bailly our only top class defender and Lukaku battling hard but as usual receiving hardly any service.
Get ready for City to give us the final humiliation of winning the premiership ( with a record points and goals total ) against us.
City or Liverpool if they draw them will slaughter Sevilla in the next round.
Liverpool going further in Europe than us !!
Mourinho should hang his head in shame for this joke of a performance over 2 legs and once again a massive clearout is required with Pogba the first to go

SERIOUS QUESTION:

Can someone tell me what our plan was before it was 0-1? Was it to hoof the ball up to Fellaini?
Pass the ball along the back line until the crown demand more, then a fullback kick it up the line only to lose possession. Rinse repeat. On the rare occasion we got into good positions it was a diagonal ball into the box for Fellaini to fail at heading it.

I think it started going downhill for us since Pogba was subbed on. We seemed to have lost the midfield afterward.

Not even sad as we got what we deserved. No guts no glory simple! Our level of cowardice was stratospheric.

And for once I don't blame the players

Didn't Mourinho say it just a few days ago himself? That he lets players figure out themselves what to do in attack?

Couldn't believe my ears when I heard it but there it is. We just go out and try to score somehow, no tactics, no nothing.

First time I'm saying that but I hope Mourinho goes sooner rather than later.

To be fair Guardiola has said that aswell when interviewed about his coaching at Barcelona.

He said I tell this to my players. My job is what you do in the first two thirds of the pitch (have to follow his coaching guidelines), what you do in the final third is your job (get total freedom in attack). To be honest this was at Barca where he had Messi, Eto'o and Henry to play, these guys can figure it out better how to attack than any coach.

But what you do in the first two thirds of the pitch is ofcourse massively important for your attacking play aswell. You can have the best attackers in the world but if you task them to fall back deep and help defend and you decide to play long ball tactics instead of building up through pass and move than yes even the best attackers in the world will struggle. Difference between Pep and Mourinho is not in the final third of the pitch, it is in the first two thirds of the pitch. Mourinho is overly focussed on defence and gives his players way too much defensive tasks and there is literally no idea on how to improve our build up play when we have the ball. Pep Guardiola he is overly focussed on his build up play, he wants his players to move forward, not backwards, he want his players to move and create space and he wants a fast build up over the ground and he shuns long ball tactics. Pep Guardiola is enabling his attackers, Mourinho is disableing them.

You can give Aguero, KDB, Sané, Sterling and Silva to Mourinho he will struggle to play free flowing attacking football with them. You give Sanchez, Rashford, Lukaku, Martial, Pogba to Guardiola and he will have them playing the same sexy football as City is playing now.

We played the same way versus Celta Vigo last year. And were very close to going out. Same cowardly shit, different outcome.

Exactly. He had star studded Madrid and Chelsea teams, and he had them playing the same way. We will play the same way next season, too. Maybe we'll be more effective, but not more attacking.

I agree. We should have attacked them. I don't like Mourinho's tactics either. I wish we were playing brilliant attacking football, and winning games, too.

But you can't have your cake and eat it, too. Not with Mourinho. His pragmatism is the reason why we are back in the knockouts of the UCL, sitting 2nd in the league, and won two cups last season. It's never pretty, but it's effective. That's how he rolls.

Do we need to move on to a better attacking manager some time? Yes. But as of now, for the first time post Fergie, I feel we have some stability in results. This is our best European run, our best league position, and our strongest squad since Fergie. I'd rather we didn't gamble it away so quickly.

Could you please send me some of what you’re smoking. The only reason we are second is because everyone around us have been pathetic too. As much as this hurts to say I really wished we weren’t 2nd but outside top 4, then we would be rid of this reject of a manager.

“The first goal will always be important in this match. We try since the first minute to be aggressive and intense. We didn’t score, Sevilla progressively hid the ball from us and controlled the game well.”

“The second goal made it impossible. The players were free, we had good situations, we had good periods, I can’t say that my players had something wrong in terms of their attitude and their intention to play.”

"I've sat in this chair twice before, with Porto - Man Utd out, with Real Madrid - Man Utd out, so this is nothing new for this football club."

Thats a fecking terrible thing to hear from your manager.
What???. What is he playing at? Disgraceful comments. How dare he say it's nothing new for us. Honestly he can feck off at the end of the season.
