Minimum effort c*nts. They'll be crying for bigger contracts after winning 4th place and celebrating it like christmas.

That won't slide vs Newcastle. Get ruthless.

Really frustrating night in front of goal but a massive relief to take the three points in injury time. We made it far harder work than it should have been and I think we’d have liked to have this game wrapped up sooner as we have a far more difficult game at the weekend so recovery is so important now.

It's the kind of game we're going to face more of as we improve. We've always been fine with the fast counter attack, now we need to learn to deal with teams that put ten players behind the ball.

Got there in end, lot of lessons to be taken from the game though.

Still shows we need better players certainly upfront. We would have been a laughing joke if it wasnt for that goal.

I see this as well. It's no way as bad playing as some think.

The issue though is that there is no excuse from our forwards. Even with this new approach, chances were still created and we needed them to have better composure in finishing a few of those chances. They have no excuse whatsoever for looking like they lost a massive amount of brain cells before entering the pitch.

I was annoyed listening to commentator saying how great Omonia defensive performance and bravery was etc, like feck they were, they were lucky we had one of those days ffs, could have easily been 6, 7:0, defensive performance my arse.

He did go on.
Greatest day in their history apparently of they held a 0-0!
Surely they've actually won some stuff before? I dare say their fans would treasure that more.

Because we'll face sides set up like that all season. Its been a huge downfall in recent years and we've added Antony and more creative and still barely managed to put the ball in the net. Everton was a different team and challenge and we did well

This is a bizarre post.

It's like night and day with recent years - we used to struggle to create anything of note, and would be relying on individual moments to score against teams that parked the bus like this. Tonight we created enough chances to win by 5 or 6, but our forwards all left their finishing boots in the changing room.

As sad as it is I can't wait till Ronaldo goes, his mobility has gone and he can't link play in tight spaces.

I'd be amazed if he got close to 15 goals this season.

Excellent performance. We dominated from start to finish and should have been up by at least 3 in the first half. De Gea could have worked from home, yeah he wasn't tested at all. I can chuck this game to one of those days where their keeper (who remember is the second choice) had the game of his life.

I can see more positive than negative, yes we can do way better all over the pitch but I can definitely see the effort from our players.

You don't discourage someone who put in a great effort to achieve a goal/success but you rather encourage them to go on and do better, something our fans should learn.

Football is quite nice sometimes

Ahhhh... I had switched off so didn't see this.

Happy for the lad. He needs to keep working hard, maybe he will play for us one day :)

So dominant with the ball but such poor finishing. On another night it could have been 6-0 but i can't help but think we might have a few more of these throughout the season.

Thought Rashford was dangerous in the first half but my god what was he up to in the second half? Ronaldo could have had a goal and assist but mostly pretty ordinary and Antony showed a few good moments but he had to score when Ronaldo set him up for that chance. And Bruno, well, at least you can never fault his workrate I suppose.

We're so shit.

I'm fed up of us being so shit.

I wish at least we played the youngsters instead.

Terrible performance IMO. Opponent was god awful and we were lucky to get the 3 points.

Has Omonia played Sociedad already? If not, can our goal keeper fan do us a favour and make sure they don't score at all :D

Sure, their goalkeeper had an amazing day, but seriously - how are our strikers THIS bad at finishing? I mean, not all the time, but too many times. Number of chances we had vs. the score sheet is disturbing.

How many one-on-ones with a goalkeeper can a self-respecting attacker bottle in a single match, for feck's sake?

We need a striker for one.
Rashford is not good against a team defending deep but looks great when the game spreads out.

I didn't think he was that bad outside of just not finishing any of his several chances. Granted, there are probably a fair few championship sides with more talent than even the top Cypriot clubs, so IDK how much his performance against Omonia means for PL matches.

Not good is too strong a term I'll admit it. His strength is running in behind a team that plays a high line.
He was unlucky in the first half tonight but started snatching at it a bit more in the second half as the chances went begging.

I thought it was a good performance bar the finishing. Kind of annoyed at how slack Rashford can get when he misses an easy chance. That one he had with his left foot in the first half, in particular, highlights the difference between him and other natural goalscorers that we've had playing for us.

Seen this script before. That goalkeeper will concede 4 goals at the weekend to some no mark team.

Games like this just reinforce that we lack quality in key areas.

There's no other 'top' team in Europe that would have 38yo Cristiano Ronaldo starting the game and leading the line. For me, that's the biggest issue. What was worrying tonight was that he doesn't even have the physicality to get ahead of the defender now when crosses are whipped into the box. I noted at least 4/5 occasions were a cross came into a good area and he was behind the CB. CFs in their peak are getting across their marker, Ronaldo just doesn't have it in his legs/body now.

Rashford is certainly working harder this season but is very hit and miss. Sancho lacks the aggression and explosive pace. Fernandes is an absolute wildcard, sublime to the ridiculous and back again every 30-seconds, Malacia and Dalot are a level below what is required...it all just means when we face tenacious teams who set-up to defend for their lives that we never quite look fluent
