EL L Europa League Round of 32 1st Leg

Midtjylland 2:1 Manchester United

Post-match discussion

Carrick looks completely lost for words post-match interview, and he was our captain tonight.

The interviewer knows (but didnt say): MUFC were crap.
Carrick knows (but didnt say): MUFC were crap.

Ergo: Carrick had very little to say.

Why are you all so negative? You can find so many positives if you want! On the top of my head:

1. We just need 1-0 at home. Hard, I know... but feasible. Yes, we can!
2. I had a meeting today and couldn't watch the game. So lucky!

You can add your own! Let's make this thread positive!

I only watched about 40% of the match because my stream was so bad.

Today was just like those matches in December. Just spineless, no effort, no resolve. The game is there for someone to take it by the collar and drag the team over the line. But you look at the spine of the team, it's shite. No authority, nobody is going to get in your face. Romero, McNair, Smalling, Carrick, Herrera, Mata, Martial/Memphis. All good guys for the most part, but who is going to bite your head off?

Rooney's injured, Schweinsteiger is injured. No leader again today, which means no fight. It showed.

Rooney has gone soft in his old age.

When was the last game the players played like they give a feck?
Why would they? The injury list means they're almost all guaranteed a shirt every week, nobody even remotely considers them responsible for this mess and they've got a manager getting all the blame after each and every game. All for multi-thousand pound weekly wages.

Look at this place or Twitter after every game, you've got people lining up to offer excuse after excuse for why this highly paid bunch of spineless, gutless tarts are the very last people responsible.

Here we go LvG post match –

1 Murphy's Law
2 Injury to De Gea screwed with the players heads
3 Could have scored more but didn't
4 Second half we could have scored also
5 Murphy's Law again
6 Everything is possible with football
7 We have the chance to beat them at home
8 DdG knee problem
9 Confidence in Romero (first goal was a deflection - unbelievable)
10 Bullshit, uninspiring excuses with no responsibility taken!

The club hasnt been this shyte since Michael Knight came on the pitch at half time and did kick ups.

I looked at the lineup before the game and thought it looked West Brom standard at best. It seems i'm still overrating us.

There isn't a single player truly playing for Philosophy. It's clear that they have given up on this season and on him. Woodward should have axed him at Xmas. The players, like us, are probably wondering how bad it has to get before LVG gets gone.

You know what scares me? If we dont sack him before the next leg and God forbid we win the 2nd leg and advance, that will get him another two weeks at least.

I feel sorry for their players - for some of them it might be their only chance to play against a team like Manchester United. And they came up against a bunch of absolute frauds. Yes, they can say they played and beat Manchester United but there's a cheapness to it, this is the worst United team in 30 years.
I think the fella who scored the winner might be a player in England soon. He is like 18 strong and a great finisher. I would like him at the academy

Didn't we have an identical interview with Carrick less than 2 months ago?

21% of fans predicted that we'd beat these guys.
I predicted a draw...but even I was overly optimistic.

I think our fans need to re-evaluate their expectations of what sort of team we are and our current standard.
Even I did not think Midgetland could win...but they did.

Though, we did win the possession battle...so there is that, I suppose.
Yeah. We're probably on a Southampton level. Not saying this just because of the fact they beat us but the kind of results we get and the ease at which we can get beat.

I should've went with my first instinct and watched Airplane! instead.

Not sure which is higher comedy though, to be fair.

What the hell, Mata... Going in like a sissy at the one area on the pitch where you shouldn't lose a duel.

Just a thought came into my mind... You see the shite our players put out every week like today and then you read United fans on here who don't want us to sign Ronaldo or Ibrahimovic because they're too old and don't have too many years left.... I just don't know what to say

Lucky it wasn't more, we should be able to turn it round and we should beat Shrewsbury but it won't be a surprise if we fail in one or even both.

Fear for us against Arsenal, could be more embarrassing than game at the Emirates.

Make them watch a video? Seems a lot to ask for this bunch of tarts.
They would probably go and complain to the press that they're being made to watch 'boring' videos and it's not fun anymore in training blah blah. Honestly, the mentality of the players are so weak. God I wish Roy Keane was the assistant instead of Giggs - Roy would be kicking their arses! Honestly, I've never seen a weaker bunch.
