On the game: great goal by Rashford, then he had 2 huge chances to make it 2-0 and couldn't do it. After that we created nothing and when City equalised, it was clear they'll most probably win.

Even though they completely dominated us for most of the game, it wasn't as bad as I expected. Plenty of injuries too so we'd always struggle at City. I was pissed about Fulham loss, this one was always coming.

We'll have to find a way to beat Liverpool in the cup to keep our season alive basically.

agreed, it is a different feeling. in the games like versus luton when ETH is working with much much better players than the opposition, it is possible some individual piece of magic gets us in the driving seat. in games where the talent pool is more even we look divisions below their level.

It's not like I didn't expect it, we did pretty well first half but couldn't get out of our own half in the second and didn't have anyone to come on to change the game really either.

We looked like a league 2 side in the cup just desperately holding on after a wonder strike early on. The football is nonexistent. On another day this could have been 5 or 6 nil. When we lost 6-1 all those years ago now, it was a massive shock. United don’t lose 6-1 to anyone. These days we’re expecting to be dominated all game and hope we can keep the scoreline respectable. I could see some Championship teams playing better football than us, injuries aside.

It's all about judgement and we have had a lot of people at this club with none. That is regarding managers, then backing manager when it was really, really needed, why we signed players, usually for the wrong reason, definitely not footballing. I support the New York Yankees and most players seem to end up there at one point or another. We are the footballing version. Spend loads, but always leave glaring gaps in the lineup.

Battered for almost the whole game and got what we deserved which was nothing. It was an ugly performance from the team, somewhat by design, it looked like it was going to work but City were so far ahead of us that they got their deserved equaliser and then it was inevitable that they would finish us off.

Likewise if we'd put those away the whole dynamic of the game would have changed - especially the Rashford control. A two-punch 1->2-0 would have changed the game.

Tough loss, but was expected.

But IMHO, only players that disappointed was Rashford - really awful besides the goal, Garnacho - didn't get as involved, so difficult to actually affect the match and Mctominay - wasn't as bad as Rashford, but not good either.

So it was more down to City being a way too good team that we lost, sadly. Onana our best player hands down, but Evans and Varane where pretty good whole match imo.

Rashford scored an amazing goal but he was incredibly wasteful on two breakaways which might have led to 1 on 1 situations with Ederson. On another day, we might have done enough to nick it.

Disappointing day but it just seems like the same match at the Etihad for the past decade or so. Sit deep, counter and hope for the best. We don't have the quality to do much else at the moment. Would any other manager have done differently with the resources we have?

I get that. The reason why we don’t seem to do it often is that it doesn’t really work, is what I mean. Even against the poorest of teams, we just end up in a basketball match, or what the great Paul Merson calls ‘you ave a shot, we ave a shot’. Literally anyone. Sheffield United, Luton, Burnley - anyone. Our game has needed to evolve for more than a decade. The United Way has now disintegrated into ‘try and do everything quickly’. That’s about it really.

United not having the skills to control the midfield against anyone is a bizarre trait all the recent squads share.

Defend deep and try to win on the counter has been the tactic all the managers succumb to with this lot for whatever reason.
