What was the Rojo - Darmian sub about? Even if he was injured, how about someone else?

Eh, entertaining for bits game, with some dreadful finishing. Disappointed in quite a few of the lads, but don't want to rag on them.

We're just not very good, and that's reality. Nothing much I can do about it, so...whatever. Still looking forward to other games, FA cup one the most of course.

Identity crisis. What are we these days ? A top club ? Yes by name, but these past three years we have declined as such a fast rate that the joy has been taken out of watching United games these days.

Expected us to go out and we went out. Can't even be bothered to care, its clear our board doesn't. If they did Van Gaal would have gone last Xmas.

Chasing three goals and Van Gaal makes three like for like subs: two defenders and a holding player! "genius"

Biggest joke, the club emails me today saying we'll auto renew your membership! Not if Louis Van Gaal stays as manger you won't lads!!

LUHG

No you're right, every other player gave their all but was let down by that mistake. Or Van Gaal. Or Fred the Red. Anything but point the blame at the cowardly 'experienced' players.
What you on about fella? That goal killed the game for us, if we hadn't have conceded on the stroke of half time, then the second half could have been much different. And yes, a kid let us down with that goal, he was in fact shit and Coutinho ate him alive and shat him out!

Sadly, we have no one good enough to affect the tie. Relying on Rashford and Martial to make a difference. The Varela hype train was sadly brought to a halt. Quite a sobering result, I'm pretty sure Liverpool will finish above us this season as well.

Cowardice in first leg cost us.

They were there for the taking tonight and shitting themselves.

A merely competent manager would've had that for us over two legs.
This. Why didn't we go to Anfield and put on the 1st half performance of tonight at least?

No need for complications or reading too much into anything. We are not a good team, simple as really. And by that I mean our passing can be slow and imprecise. Our attackers are not clinical enough or skillful enough with the exception of maybe Martial and our mentality is weak because of the lack of winners in the team. When a not very good comes up against a not very good, you get a draw which is what happened tonight.

We're crap in all aspects but keeper and it's been painfully obvious since November. Van Gaal's now lost the one measly highlight of his tenure, his record over Liverpool. He's a dead man walking, surely. Good job by the ever-spineless Woody and Co to show us exactly why the "stick by your manager no matter what" nonsense is just that.

So what is the excuse for 80% of the other games this season while those cowards have stood and waited for a kid to bail them out with a goal? Or the sitters missed during this game? Or the utter shit served up in the first leg? They consistently do nothing yet the fans and media have provided them with a bulletproof vest when it comes to criticism.

So we have won 9 out of our last 26 games..

I repeat.. 9 out of 26..

At what point will the board wake up and decide enough is enough..

That form is not even midtable worthy.. Any other club with a semblance of sense would have sacked the manager..

This. Why didn't we go to Anfield and put on the 1st half performance of tonight at least?
We didn't play all that well in the 1st half. They had 2 or 3 very good chances and we did the same. We only managed to put them under sustained pressure for about 5 mins which is nowhere near great. But even if we did. Come on! You know very well that home teams especially Liverpool against us will always play 10 times better than usual. It is why it's called the home advantage. A better team than us could have coped with them and taken the sting out of them but actually outplaying them at Anfield is something only Barcelona and Bayern would be able to do.

Stop moving the goal posts. Your comment was on tonight's game, so I answered it was a kid that let us down.

Started brightly enough
Reasonable first half except right side was weak going forward and defending
Smalling seemed all over the place, Varela was poor, Mata poor match, Lingard invisible as usual
Coutinho goal knocked the stuffing out of us.
LvG had no idea what to do when Liverpool scored.
Understand the Valencia substitution but completely bewildered by Darmian coming on, firstly if Rojo wasn't injured then insane but if he was why not throw on Depay, we need to score 3 goals!!
Second half poor

Hope the midfield for the remainder of the season will be Schneiderlin, Schweini & Herrera but no hope of that I suppose.

Got 16 points in the Line-up prediction and correctly predicted 1-1 as the scoreline. So predictably poor tactics

Really the thing that makes me most upset is the lack of fight.

I'm not saying I wanted to go out and bunch one of them or injury anyone but just to get stuck it and just show that you care a little bit would mean a lot.

I can't see us beating city which means it would be time to start planning for next year.

Hoped for something different considering the competition and the opponent but alas same old shit served up. Decent first half performance let down by poor finishing and pathetic play on the equaliser. Second half was a non-event, no belief and no quality. Should have at least won tonight's game. Pathetic. Fellaini and Mata are awful.

He won't be sacked until CL qualification is mathematically impossible, just like Moyes.
What a horrible way to run a company. The tone of a company begins at the top. The Glaziers, having no football background, regard this team as a cash cow, just like they did with the Tampa Bay Buc, the American football team (which they ran into the ground). So they install clueless people in the tier below them, and so on down the line. The point being that it should not surprise anyone that LVG is clueless (thanks for those second half substitutions Lou!)

Didn't we outplay them at Anfield last season? In any case, I hear what you're saying, but showing some guts and determination in that first leg might have yielded something.... you have to try to get that away goal. It's that lack of application in that first leg that makes me disappointed.

Need to replace the CEO, appoint a DoF and change the manager - in that order.

So I imagined Mata stinking up the joint along with Blind and Rojo?
blah, blah, blah...the person that let us down tonight was a kid. Simple.

I don't blame him though, as he is in fact just a kid and mistakes happen. But stop with your argumentative tone, and accept a kid did let us down. If it wasn't for that goal, the second half no doubt would have been like the first.

It went basically as expected, but it's still baffling to see the state the club is in. LVG needs his (big) share of the blame for that, but that's not the full story.

Really can't understand how Fellaini gets picked and stays on..... poor positional sense and not good at tackling (gives away too many fouls) so can't play centre mid. Terrible first, second, etc touch so not a creative mid and not even good in the air... one header, perfectly at Mignolet and couldn't hit a barn door when shooting.

Slightly better pace to game (small positive) but no imagination come the 18-yard line ...... and to have that few shots on target over two legs against one of the worst Prem League goalies I've ever seen is shocking.

After spending huge amounts of money, we still need half a dozen players minimum and risk is some of the ones we want to keep, go..... and the ones we want, won't come. Imagine if we lost De Gea and Martial..... scary.

If Van Gaal is there next season, we're fooked. I know the players are not completely blameless but how can so many players look good pre-United only to look poor/average once they've been vangaalised?

Next three months huge.

So we'll just pretend the chances Mata and Rojo had before their goal didn't happen? A strange bit of logic, but okay.

Pitiful again.

DDG and Martial's agents probably working on deals to get them out of here already.

Bit harsh of some blaming Verela. He was bright and a threat before their goal, and there's much better defenders who will be taken apart like that by Coutinho.

Worst thing about the game is that there's still nothing from the fans at the games to put pressure on LvG.

You can pretend what you like.

I really thought you were going to have us at 1-0. We were bricking it and you were buzzing. Coutinho's goal killed it but Van Gaal's half time team talk must have been a dull one as I didn't see a lot in the second half from United.

Martial is class and had Clyne's number the entire game.

It's really sad to see what our club has become. Every value instilled by Fergie has faded away and we're just really mediocre. We seem to be so far off being a decent side.

He was like a headless chicken. 9 out of 10 times he burst down the line he forgot to take the ball with him.

Mata was dreadful....again.

De Gea left a massive gap for their goal but one mistake when he's clearly been our best player all year is more than forgivable.

Why are we starting Varela in a game like this when Darmain could clearly have started? Why do we insist on playing Valencia at full back when he is one of our most creative players?

I thought Fellaini actually had a half decent game, but when he is our best performer on the night you know it's likely to be a long night.

The timing of their goal completely deflated us, naively I thought well at least we'll come out and attack now, I was wrong and the irony is that if we had we probably would have scored the three required.

Not good enough and it pretty much sums up our season to be honest.

Varela has clearly struggled the last few games, why was he starting when Valencia was close to fitness.

Just another crazy call.
