Manchester United 0:0 Hull City

Post-match discussion

We could have easily won the game. It was quite obvious that the game needed Marshall on the left. However Jose for some reason can't see it.

Jose lost us the game.

I'd rather Jakupovic

Was at the game tonight; hull are disgusting, I've never seen so much blatant time wasting. Referee had no control.

United - no movement up front. Ball not moving fast enough. Valencia and jones were probably, our 2 best players. Rashford is not a winger. Ibra was awful, dropped too deep. Mata and Rooney tried to make things happen.

Frustrating night

Mourinho mentioned the time wasting without mentioning it.

I don't think 4th has gone - yet. The Scousers are looking very fragile, as are Arsenal. City and Chelsea have always been a class above this season (even when they have dropped points, they've both looked like that they could demolish the opposition on another day), so 1st/2nd was never on. Spurs are likely to do their usual March implosion. The problem is whether or not we can take advantage of the inevitable slip ups and the likely answer is 'no'. I can see us getting battered in some of those tough away games that we have left. When or if that happens, we'll be consigning ourselves to another season of Thursday night football. The consequences of that will be massively over paying for the players we want, if they can be persuaded to come. More importantly, potentially losing some of those players who see their career being stunted by second tier European football.

The time wasting was insane. Almost makes me want them to go down.

Bringing Rooney on again when we're chasing the game? Yes he scored a good goal v stoke but can anyone honestly say he was a better option than Martial tonight? Or even (God help us) Ashley Young?

Yeah I'll be glad to see the back of them, they offer the league absolutely nothing which makes dropping points to them all the more frustrating. Lets see if they fight like their lives depend on it come Saturday

How can you not give Niasse a second yellow for either of those challenges, it's bullshit and if it was one of our players they would've been straight off.

Just watching the relay (as painful as that is) but I just saw the tackle made by Niasse in our box and it's just lucky he didn't seriously injure Blind. Ref obviously saw it and had a chat with the player but why no second yellow is a mystery.

However, regardless of bad ref decisions we have to do better and find a way past, around or through parked buses.

after the first ten minutes the match and result was obvious!
I said to my lad that this is gonna be 0-0 all the match we will huff and puff but fail to score, and when we do have a gilt edged chance we find that the opposition goalkeeper has turned into Lev Yashin!!! It reads like a script it really does, the only prediction I got wrong was that dirty twat upfront for Hull who should of seen red, didn't score the winner in the last 5 mins.
I'm so frustrated with our team at the minute, you think we would have a plan B , C etc etc

Is that Harry Maguire worth a look for us? Or is he just a game raiser. Has dominated Ibra and the rest of our attack for 3 games.

He's a strapping lad who knows how to marshall a forward. I don't think that necessarily makes him a top target for us.

I see what you mean though, I got fecking tired of hearing his name by the end.

Lev Yashin  ... ya know know most posters on here think that's a new rapper from Ukraine right?

United played like team that full of old ladies. Ball movements were soooooooo slow.

We are miles off challenging those two and will not be signing anyone of the class of Kroos and Modric. Better get used to it for a while. We will have to scrape by with the odd cup like in the past. This a a long, long project.
This.
Cannot understand why anyone think it would be sorted so quickly.
Due to a heaping combination of positivism and wishful thinking on all our behalves methinks.

We HAVE improved, of that there's no doubt (in my mind anyway). I always felt we'd put one in today; we didn't. Under Van Gaal, it never crossed my mind that the aimless criss-cross sideways passing was likely going to lead to a goal.
I remain optimistic we will get it right with a little more time and a few replacements on the pitch

In the mean time we're good enough to squeak out a cup or maybe two, of which one hopefully will be the Euro one! Take solace in that we're hard to beat at the moment and the Roja Bailly combination will be back soon.

No way.....NO WAY.....will Hull Useless City get two results in a week off us.

Should be 2-0 or 3-0 and could well be 4-0 or 5-0.

Then again....Stoke, Burnley, West Ham, etc....

Oh well....

Radio says Rooney for Carrick was because of Carrick being injured. But didn't say why Rooney and not Martial. I think JM needs to make clear what the situation is with him and Martial - not this endless series of rumours !!

Would be a great PhD project to study why last season and this season we continue to have these types of results at home against supposedly poorer teams way below us in the league and supposedly on a bad run of results.

Yeah, I think it's too early to give on fourth at this point.

Very frustrating result. We dropped a golden opportunity to move within three points of second. Miraculously we're still only four points off fourth but we can't afford any more slip ups!

We are fecking shite.

Ignore the stats. We have had the same issues all season and it doesn't look like it will be resolving anytime soon.

4 points from 4th and 5 points from Everton...

The team is arrogant. Arrogance with nothing to show for. Come into most Old Trafford games thinking they've won before kick-off. Spend 40 odd minutes doing feck all out there.

Then when they've realized that the actually need to put effort in Jose starts tinkering. So many games where he gets the subs all wrong. Rooney should not be the go to guy when we're chasing results at home. Him inevitably being shite needs another sub to try to rectify it, causing Rooney to be put in a wing position where he has nothing to offer. By that point the team is disjointed and players out of position, trust the team a little bit more. Let them work out a poor half. If Carrick was injured better option were available, Mata or Martial.

Mkhi was very poor, but maybe try him in his best position in the second half, instead of Rooney? His upside is so much better than Rooney's. When he comes on all I can dream of is him not hurting the team.

Rashford flattered to deceive, did some things well but nothing to show for it. Martial is by far our best LW and Jose is hurting the team by not playing him. The best teams have a settled 11 and this LW limbo is not the right way to go IMHO.

Zlatan hurt the team in the second half, let the pressure off by needlessly fouling or getting caught offside. This was the first game I wanted to take him off.

I tried to level my head off.... but i seriously cant deal right now.
What was that circus???

Lev Yashin  ... ya know know most posters on here think that's a new rapper from Ukraine right?

Why wouldn't a person who takes the effort to register for a football forum on the internet know about Lev Yashin, though?

It's Hull. At home. Pogba would be fine in a two if we actually implemented it properly. We don't need to have 60-70% possession to beat Hull. Give a little up.

He isnt though....he likes to roam which leaves Herrera alone in the middle. Rooney was a 10 when he came on and played more in midfield than Pogba did. Thats my issue with Jose..he wont bring off Pogba or Zlatan if they arent playing well. Martial and Rashford up top would have worked better for me.

What game did you watch. It was a terrible performance. And we wont get top four. We keep slipping up when we are having an "easy" run of games.
I had to listen to it in the car with the screen on to the side as I was driving to work. We were all over them in the first half. How many chances did they create?

Second half I watched from about 75th minute and again it was backs to the wall for them. We resorted to long balls but we were pushing for a goal.

We'll get top 4, look how close we are and then look at the fixtures from here until the end of the season for all the teams ahead of us. There are going to be a lot of points dropped by teams ahead of us in next couple of weeks.

Missed last nights game, but was it really that bad? Apparently, we didn't deserve to win the game in contrast to other drawn games, but we didn't lose at least. Frustrating trend this season is that we can't captalize on chances to move up the table, but we're still within touching distance. The season will play out until the very last game I'm sure of that.

We haven't been exciting enough at any point this season to justify taking that risk.

I'm so pissed. Those overpaid idiots lack the inner strength to push on when it matters.

Can anyone sum up the post match interview? Some of the lads saying José had a bit of a meltdown talking about Jurgen Klopp? If he's trying to distract attention away from that performance wouldn't be be better having a go at the players that didn't perform?

We've been hearing that too many times this season mate :(

Heaton, Randolph, some unknown fecker named Grant... all had the game of their lives against us.

I guarantee you Liverpool trounce these twats a minimum of 3-0 at the weekend, probably a keeper error or two in there.

It's a difficult pill to swallow.

That's the problem, they raise their game for us, especially when it is at Old Trafford.

Pissed away first half of season when Mourinho decided not to play Mkhitaryan, now he has issues with Martial who can open up tight defenses. We could have done with the 3 points with everyone bar City dropping points.
