Post-match discussion

Am just glad we didn't lose. It's important to stop fecking losing.
God knows what we'll get from this team in the next match.

In any case, loved the last 35 minutes. Can they fecking do this for 90 mins please...

Two goals at least.

Thought the penalty was soft, but I was still surprised it was overturned. Young didn't help himself by going down so theatrically.

Need faster defenders so we can start playing the offside trap and a high line. Being so deep all the time just doesn't work as a defensive strategy.

We need to start actually playing football at the beginning of the game. That’d be nice

Onana is a professional keeper and somehow doesn't know how to pinch a ball away from danger

Zirkzee is such an odd player, zero intent or desire to impact a game, just stupid layoffs.

We can't have both De Ligt and Maguire

Our players kept crying for ghost pens

Great to get a draw at least, it would have been horrible to lose this

We have weak minded players

With Amad out, Garnacho has to play. Teams have to respect that we can hurt them on the counter

Crazy to think i'm sat hearing michael owen and ian wright over and over telling me everything is wrong and they are right. f'ing muppets

Let off. That was a pen. They showed ref shitty angles
It isn't a penalty from a football point of view but by the letter of VAR is that a clear enough and obvious enough error to step in and tell the referee he's wrong? I'm not sure

But common sense would tell you that the minor physical collision between Young and Maguire would not cause Young to front flip. Feels like the right decision overall but the manner in which it happened is a bit murky.

Great job Everton fans. Moaning about obvious fouls and handballs meant that players started doing the same instead of playing.

If it happened at the other end this forum would be screaming corruption and ref agendas.
If it was at the other end, the pen would never have been given in the first place. As I said, if that tug is a penalty then we will get 10 a game. The dive made the ref give a pen. Without that, the ref would not have given the penalty and VAR would not have been involved.

Rescued a point from a pretty poor display. Not an bad point away at an inform Everton in fairness. I will take it.

I want to be happy about the comeback but in just deflated
It's the realisation that we're going nowhere under this coach just like the last one. It is depressing that we're just hoping to stay in the division at this point.

Stream I'm watching Michael Owen crying that Everton didn't get a penalty. Had Young hadn't have made a meal of it VAR would have stood by the refs decision.

Embarrassingly bad first half. Nervous, no energy, static. As bad as ive seen.

Second hald started just as bad but the substitution, removing Casemiro for Garnacho brought more energy. Brunos goal instilled believe and we could have won it in the end but i will take a point. We were second best for 70 minutes.
Obi looks a better bet than Hojlund on that cameo.

Just look at the two idiotic goals we concede and yet again its cost us 3 points its same every game comical defending. Yes we dont score much but we lose game after game with goals that are easily avoidable.

Terrible first half, we were much better in the last 30 minutes. I thought Dorgu was very good. Bruno grew into the game but still well below his best.

Subs changed the game but mostly due to getting Casemiro and Hojlund off the pitch. Even though he didn't get much of a touch it must be a great feeling for Chido.
Chido did have a few good touches. You can see his intent to move the ball forward.

Young flopping like a fish; shameful.

Surprised we fought back, never thought we were getting anything from this.

Not good enough but that's not exactly a revelation is it?

The story of the last two years:

The keeper is shocking
The centre backs have zero reactions
The striker(s) are substandard.

I think everything else around that is palatable, but if you’re relying on your centre mids to score your goals after your back 3 and keeper give away cheap goals, you’re never getting more than a draw.

I didn’t want us to go all out for Gyokeres but if there’s a relationship with Amorim I think it’s the first move you make. Hojlund and Zirkzee are so below average.

I think amorim made some mistakes today. Garnacho clearly needs to start, we have very little threat going forward. I find him frustrating but he needs to start.

It's clear Chido can contribute to this team at his age. He may not be 100% ready but hojlund just isn't working.

Lastly, this team has proven yet again that they aren't reaching their highest levels. Momentum and confidence play too big a factor, we just get swept up in the currents of the game.

I'm still Amorim in because I look at the results relative to its wider context, but my faith is being tested a little.

I can't believe this game ended with me being disappointed we didn't snatch a win.

My takeaways:

- First half utterly dreadful. Last 20mins significantly better.
- Onana and Maguire as a combination are horrific.
- Maguire was utterly dreadful this game, Beto bossed him for the entire game.
- Casemiro shouldn't play for the first team. Just dreadful and didnt look arsed.
- Start Chido next game and bench Hojlund.
- Dalot is dreadful in this system.
- Yoro looked good again.

I'd start the next game with the team that ended this one, but remove Maguire.

Happy we got a point out of that. That's the only positive. Hopefully Spurs, Bournemouth and Arsenal do us a solid today. If they all win and we beat Ipswich in the week, then that should be that and I can finally relax.

Poor performance. I didn’t even think we played well in the last 30 mins to be honest. Plenty of promising situations squandered with lacklustre slow passing, bad decision making a lack of cutting edge in wide areas.

We were fortunate that Bruno dug out a good free kick and that the ball fell nicely for Ugarte to smash home for the second. In open play we looked mediocre at best.

You can blame the players all you want but it’s Amorin who picks the side, and he’s still picking that big waste of space Casemiro in his starting lineups. God only knows why he continues to get a free pass after stinking up the midfield for so long. Taking him off made all the difference today.

onana needs replacement as priority,i fully expected penalty to be given as it was utd (surprised it wasnt), dorgu and ugarte were better, hojlund and zirkzee useless, casa doesnt have the legs, bruno wasteful but given he is only creative player in the team so no complaints. chido looked very slow but havnt watched him, could have had a run at defence in the end but chose a poor pass but no issues he has alot of development ahead on him.
