Really good performance for me. There were parts of the game where we seemed to be dissecting them. I noticed a few things:

1. Rashford had a few dribbles where he was able to nagivate through tight spaces through dribbling. That's something I haven't seen from him before. It either tells us that as a team we are creating more spaces like this or Rashford is taking in new things.

2. Casemiro was fantastic. He was everywhere, winning everything. Yes he had a few sloppy moments, but for the most part he was just a force.

3. We need to find a solution to how we attack. We had a lot of the ball and we were creating so much space. Yet I feel we should have created a few more chances. The issue for me has to do with our striker position. We haven't had any stability in there and therefore I don't think we've been able to create a consistent attacking plan for our striker.

4. Mctominay. Some people will say Eriksen going off the pitch, led to us relinquishing control. I don't think that's the case. I think the lack of movement offered by Mctominay simply became more evident with him replacing Eriksen. His presence essentially closes up half of the pitch to the defence for our build up play. His off the ball movement is awful.

5. We need a striker. Whether this is competition for Martial or a permanent no.9. The lack of pressure offered by Ronaldo is quite evident and we need to have a striker that suits what we want to do. Martial has been injured all season and we don't have another player that can offer anything decent after him.
Agreed on all points. :)

Early days in ETHs reign we're 5 with a game in hand, while we're begining to see better football.

2. Casemiro was fantastic. He was everywhere, winning everything. Yes he had a few sloppy moments, but for the most part he was just a force.

Giving a goal away after 5 minutes isn't just sloppy moments....and he was lucky prior to the 2-1 goal (which he did brilliantly afterwards) - that could have been another goal against

Important win to get us back on track.
Dalot is really not good for my blood pressure. Defensively he is a liability and his offensive qualities does not make up for that.

More or less good, but it was a miracle we didn't concede in the final 10min.

Martial hurt again, shocking.

Good result at a place United struggle. No matter how shit Everton are they’re always up for this. 8 goals scored in the last 3 games and 6 conceded. It’s a roller coaster season.

I think we were quite easy on the eye, totally outplayed the scouse and thoroughly deserved the win.

Need to finish better, with Tony Martial on this would have been 4-1

Should have killed the game off when we were in complete domination. We need to be more clinical when in control. Great result against a much improved opponent though. Another Martial injury is just shite for us though.

I honestly wonder if I watch a different game to everyone else.

Our passing and ball retention is genuinely woeful. So many Sunday league level errors.

Everton are really really bad and very negative. Reminded me of the Leicester game where they were dreadful and we were less dreadful.

It’s likely you were watching the 4-0 mauling Everton gave us not that long ago. We fully deserved tonight’s win. We were robbed by the referee on several critical decisions that led to their goal that was allowed and our goal that was disallowed. Casemiro missed a point blank header on goal. We were good value for all three points, mate.

Thought the game was great fun tbh!
Both teams were very erratic making it a nervous and eventful game.
It is weird that we arguably play much better than Everton but it is still superclose right up until the end.
We have no answer in the last 15 min or so when they start to push people forward more. Think EtH should have made some changes earlier to get us higher up the pitch again.
Great to see Shaw back in good form again, much needed.
Shame that Rashford couldn`t do more today, he played so well a few days ago.
Shame that Martial is injured again, guy can`t catch a break.

Maybe felt like a miracle at the time but in hindsight apart from the one de gea palm away from garner's cross nothing troubled de gea in that 10min period. We headed away everything and everton got 1 or 2 snatched headers at the ball which were very low percentage chances. So all in all, for an aerial bombardment it was pretty easily dealt with.

I'm starting to realize there are parts of our fanbase waiting for us to implode. They take more pride in poor results and can't acknowlege good performances unless its prime United. It's the same crowd that complained when we were winning leagues, comparing our play to other teams.

Nothing you said contradicted what I said?

Everton are relegation fodder and were worse than us, like I said.

Good result against a team who were starting to build some momentum in recent weeks. The intensity today was so much better compared to last week. It’s when we play with that intensity and get stuck into teams that we do well.

Odd choice for MOTM. Casemiro was good off the ball but his passing was awful, apart from the 2nd goal.

Martial injured again! Ronaldo did fine but we look a better attacking unit with Martial at the moment.

Pretty good performance
Casemiro regularly went from sublime to ridiculous
2 nice goals, pleased for Ronaldo
Eriksen makes us tick
Complete nonsense of a disallowed goal, I'd be fuming if that cost us the points

We made it difficult for ourselves in the second half but we controlled the ball and had some decent passing moments at times. Hopefully as EtH methods get more ingrained into the team we will be able to put these type of games to bed and then not need to hang on.

Hopefully it's a step in the right direction, 2 wins after the derby is the most we could do and we have so am happy.

The rules are like this - when the attacker touches the ball it will automatically be disallowed - when a defender touches it, refs are allowed to use common sense....if they have that.
This is what someone would call a stupid rule.

I watched the full WestHam-Fullham game and seeing the ref and VAR allow 2 handballs in the build of both goals had me infuriated when I saw Rashford's one disallowed due to a handball in the build up.
Correct me if I’m wrong but I don’t think the Antonio goal didn’t even go to VAR

Good win but we should've scored more. Happy for Ronaldo to get his goal and the overall performance of the players was good. Dalot needs to stop his brain farts though.

I thought we played really well for parts of the game and then just hung on without getting the killer goal which was risky. Our technique on the ball and movement has increased under EtH, you'd have to be blind not to see that but we're still in a process of refining the attack and building a settled defence. This was a bit like the game against Leicester earlier in the season for me where we faded a bit in the second half.

De Gea- 7- As someone commented in his performance thread, why aren't more people saying that he looks a lot more comfortable on the ball lately? Looks pretty clear to me. Vital save at the end.
Dalot-7- Mixed bag. Some jittery moments but then others when he looks a real player.
Martinez-7- Class. Aggressive as usual.
Lindelof-7- Surprisingly comfortable alongside Martinez. Did well.
Shaw-7- Very good return for him. Helps our build up play a lot.

Erisksen-8- Pretty obvious why he's constantly first choice and why De Jong was wanted so much in the summer. Metronome and at the heart of almost everything in our build up play. De Jong would slip right into that role with ease. That three year contract looks a great deal so far.
Casemiro-7- Well that was a mixed display. Some awful passes and at fault for our goal, made the winner and really grew into the game though.
Bruno-7- Ran his heart out as usual.

Rashford-7- even without the goal he just looks such a better player on the left, by a million miles. Just play this guy where he belongs (not as a centre forward)
Martial-7- good assist, shame about the injury
Antony-7- Class finish. 3 goals in 3 games now in the premiership I think. faded a bit in the second half.

Ronaldo-7- what a finish . Good defensive work and link up play at times. He or Martial should be our main centre forward.

Solid win and performance away at a team in form. Would have been more comfortable if not for the terrible VAR call.

They were discussing the disallowed goal on MUTV before. If he had passed it and that player had scored it would have been allowed, because it was Marcus who scored, even though it could be accidental, it is disallowed as he benefited from the handball. Bloody stupid rule.

Or, fans just want to see us pass the ball like a top team should?

The issue is with this level of performances you're going to come unstuck eventually in too many games. The performances against Southampton, Leicester and Everton are not good. If Spurs had scraped these wins with these performances the Conte thread would be bumped to tell everyone how they're not impressed in the slightest and they're scraping by. But because it's united we have to pretend we've played well.

It's been 10 games ffs.

Honestly, these things can happen when you present yourself for the ball and are an active force in the game. Watch most teams with top midfielders and you'll notice these things can happen. Happened to Scholes and Keane a multitude of times.

What we have had over the last 10 years have been players who are consistently afraid of taking the ball in those areas and fans so quick to bash them when it doesn't come off. Maybe it's because our fans are not used to properly building out from the back and not having players mindlessly rotating possession across the back 4 like we have done since 2013. Mctominay barely has moments like that because he doesn't present himself for the ball.

In fact, I'll go as far as saying, on this forum, our most active and brave players are given far too much slack for the risks they are willing to take, yet their teammates aren't. From Bruno to Pogba to Di Maria, this has been a consistent theme here.

Realizing that we are building up should also be understood. We didn't scrape through Everton, we beat them and be performance completely outplayed them.

I'll give you Leicester and Southampton. In those games, we relied on Martinez and Varane too much. We also were playing long balls to avoid playing out from the back due to the lack of comfortability our team had doing it, we didn't do that today.

We used to have to rely on De Gea to make quite a few key saves when we were hanging on before. He made 1 this game. It seemed worse when we conceded corners because the Everton fans were quite loud. But, I thought we were comfortable enough and protected the goal really well.

Thought we played well overall. There were periods in the first half we gave away possession too easy and often gave the ball to players who found themselves quickly under pressure with no options to pass to.

But as the game went on, we showed some real control with the ball. Was nice to see us winning the ball higher up the pitch, our most in the oppositions half this season. Lots of positives to build on.

The last minutes had me nervous though, as Everton tried to nick a leveller.

Get in there.

Lets face it, we wouldnt have won that game 6 months ago especially after conceding first in the first few minutes. And especially at that dump when Everton only show up for a handful of games a season.

Delighted for Ronaldo, hopefully with the 700th goal scored he might relax a bit more now.

Hopefully Martials injury isnt serious.

Stupid kick off time (Im sure the Merseyside police were delighted when that time was announced) but thankfully it didnt benefit our opponents for once.

Oh and Viva Ronaldo :)

First time we came back from behind (against meaningful opposition) under ETH. Good stuff, and completely deserved win at a very tricky ground

During the Everton cross in the last minute my stream froze, and it looked like it dropped in front of an Everton player ready to kick it into the empty net.

I thought here we go again. Good thing De Gea deflected it out to of reach.

That was the most dominant first half performance I can remember away from home against a decent away team since LVG was at the club. We couldn't sustain it in the second half but it's something to build on.

This from Rio is also encouraging.

Rashford has still got a long way to go but at least teams are back to being terrified of his pace.
