PL L FA Premier League

Manchester United 0:2 Crystal Palace

Post-match discussion

That was misery as an artform.

Feel gutted for Martinez and blank about everything else

To be outplayed by a team sitting 14th tells you everything about our current team and players. They simply cannot do the basics a PL player should be able to do. Our passing is breathtakingly shoddy, no attacking combinations, zero threat from set pieces...the list is endless of where these players need to be to simply compete.

We have no money to replace them so the future is very bleak and tge writing has been on the wall for a while but the realisation is also sinking in.

Well… that’ll teach me to be so confident going into a game!

It was an absolute shambles going forward. If SJR can’t see that we absolutely need a Striker by 11pm tomorrow then I give up.

So a few things

1. Thought we were good the first 20 minutes, very positive, then progressively got worse, and once they scored it was over
2. Martinez injury is a big loss and honestly that could be him done at the top level with another knee injury
3. Wouldn't it be great if we had a keeper like Henderson who was calm and commanded his area, we'd be stupid to sell someone like that....
4. To be honest i don't really care about the league anymore, we can ended 17th for all I care, the Europa and FA Cup are the main priority now, it's just about getting these league games out of the way now.

Anyone else getting bored with the whole "training sessions" or lack thereof reasoning?

I can almost accept us creating nothing when we play 5 defenders every match but we should at least be keeping clean sheets if that's the case. We're one of the worst defensive teams in the league, we continue to ship goals when we're playing at home against some really ordinary teams. Something has to change
Even worse almost always from the most avoidable errors. What was that first goal? They had the whole afternoon to see the flight of the ball and Yoro mistimed his jump so bad he might as well have been in a different timezone and Maguire wasn't even tracking

Gutless performance. Started each half brightly, only to quickly regress to slow ponderous play with way too many touches. Eriksen should have been fiven a full half.
Definitely not. Eriksen could not be further away from being suited to the Premier League.

No legs whatsoever. No positional discipline.

A half decent manager should be able to at the very least, get this squad to beat Palace at our home ffs.
If you’re suggesting he’s not half decent then you’re wasting your daily posts.

Who we bringing in that gets a tune out of this lot? And what is it gonna take for people to wise up and see that sacking managers again and again whilst giving the same players another chance is beyond fecking idiotic.

Am i the only one who wanted to see the handball by Palace late in game? The commentators didn't mention it, no replay was provided for it.

But yeah, we were shit. It's a similar situation to Van Gaal. All the possession, and our attacking players are not good enough to break a parked defense.

Oh here we go. Get the next one in and expect him to perform miracles from an utterly shite squad devoid of the one trait you need to succeed in this league.

Stop being defensive and weird about the manager. Amorim has 14 points out of a possible 39 - in 13 league games. You don't need a fecking "miracle" to do better than that.

It hasn't been good performance nor result wise. He has to find solutions, soon.

Garbage of the highest order. Players, coaches, everything just terrible. Sad state of affairs.

Agreed. It has been a theme in all of these games - Forest, Bournemouth, Brighton, today. Easy goals that make you wonder how it's even possible to concede in that way.

People can complain about Amorim all they want (and today wasn't a great day for him - Mainoo experiment didn't really work; subs didn't have any impact), but you can't legislate for the habitual bread-dead performances from Dalot nor for the uselessness of Onana and others.

These group of players are turning Old Trafford in to, Theatre of Shitting the Bed....

Also Amorim has to stop playing Maz as RWB, specially if Dalot is the LWB, no attacking threat from either side.

We’re gonna sign a bunch of players for 3-4-3 then sack him, aren’t we?

there's always a soft underbelly with this team. Played well for 20 minutes or so, Palace settled down.

The worrying thing is even at 1-0 down today it didn't feel we'd get something from the game.
That maybe is it for Martinez this season. Mazraoui is not a wingback, there's no way near enough goals in this team.

The moron shouldn't take into consideration Onana being chipped from a header ffs

Some days, playing "hero ball", "hit and hope", "give it to x-y-z and pray something happens" football will produce enough moments of individual quality to get you over the line against a group of "lesser" players who can be moulded into a system and stick to a particular plan.

Today, as it is the case more often than not, it wasn't one of those days...

Let INEOS scratch their heads and wonder how the hell CP have won 5/6 of their last away games.

Another truly appalling performance in a season already littered with them.

What on earth is happening with these players? Do they have no technical ability whatsoever? Is Amorim coaching them at all?

I’m glad I’m in work and didn’t have to watch that

I like Amorim a lot but fecking hell, we can’t keep going on like this. You don’t expect to turn into a league winning team overnight, but surely the confidence in the team and the manager won’t feel right and you won’t feel like you’re going in the right direction if you’re losing every week.

It really doesn’t seem like there’s a single team in the league we can say we are comfortable against right now. This team has its deficiencies, yes, but is it really “lose 5 of your last 6 home games” bad or whatever our record actually is
He i stubborn so we must suffer until he changes the whole squad.

Shit passing in the final third and some lapses in defence but on the whole looked like we played ok. Only caught the 2nd half mind. Main thing, get well soon Lisandro. Very worrying to lose him again to a knee injury.

Another game to forget. You could clearly see when we had the upper hand the first 10 minutes of the game, when Palace settled and came into it, we didnt have anything in our forte to counter that and swing the game back into our favour. If that wasn't bad enough, when we went 1-0 down, the body language of the players was absolutely shocking and they were admitting defeat.
I think this is more of a mentality issue than tactical issue. Rather than increasing the intensity, we look disheartened and scared to get countered

Which is mad because they are actually pretty decent in the tackle, but what's the point if they are just going to always give it away in basic facets of defending? We 'upgraded' on Phil Jones, Smalling, De Gea, AWB and co just to come back full circle to this kind of defending

Dalot & Maz literally gave 1/10 performances. Zero ball sense, Zero game IQ, ZERO. Nothing. Maz will do a move to avoid 1 defender but virtually guaranteed to lose the ball to the 2nd defender. He did it over and over and over. No understanding with amad, always having to chase after passes.

AND JUST FECKING SHOOT!
